Unexpected

Kate’s POV I left Zambia a month ago. I couldn’t stay there and moved back to Canada into my grandparent’s house. They wanted me close and looked after me very well the past month. I missed being with my family which I hadn’t seen in over two years. Liam was always coming over to my apartment and calling my phone all day. I became a prisoner and had to escape from him. I couldn’t believe he lied to me the way he did. I never want to see him ever again. I prayed Janet wouldn’t tell him where I am because only she knows of my where about in Canada. I prepared for my baby’s coming the past month. The nursery was ready and everything I needed for the baby was set. I didn’t carry any of the things Liam bought for the baby. I got everything my friends bought though which were mostly clothing and feeding utensils. Am glad it was just two days to go to my due date. I was as big as a whale even though grandpa denied it. He always said I looked beautiful no matter what size I were. I experienced a backache every day the past month. It was hard to do anything on my own. I was also always tired. I didn’t know pregnancy was this stressful. This was my first baby and I don’t think I want any more children if every pregnancy is like this. It was a Friday and my grandparents weren’t home, they had a few meetings at their office and promised to both be back by 2pm. I was home with the Darcy our helper and George our gardener was outside. I was in the living room watching NCIS then I heard a knock on the door. I wasn’t expecting anyone and Darcy was upstairs to come answer the door, so I got up from the sofa and went to open the door which I found very difficult to do. I moved to the door as fast as I could in my state. I caught his scent the moment I opened the door.  Liam was standing right in front of me at my front door. How did he find me? Did he manage to convince Janet to give up my address? She never failed me once so how it is possible that he was standing right in front of me. “What are you doing here?” I frowned as I was not pleased to see him. “Can we please talk?” “You had eight whole months to talk and you didn’t, why now?” I wasn’t going to move or let him come in. “You know what, just leave and go back. Am never going to listen to a thing you have to say” I tried to slam the door, but he blocked it with his hand. “Am not leaving until we talk” “Well I’m not interested in talking to you.” He moved closer to me and held my face in both his hands and kissed me hard. I tried to push him away but he over powered me. I missed his kisses so much but I couldn’t let him manipulate me again.   “Please let’s talk?” he murmured under the kiss. “I just want you to leave, you lied to me all this while.” Just then my water broke and I felt it trail down my legs. “The baby is coming now!!!!!!!!” I screamed and Darcy came rushing down the stairs. “What should I do? Are you okay?” Liam asked calmly. “MY WATER JUST BROKE AND YOU ARE ASKING ME WHAT WE SHOULD DO?!!!!!” Liam’s face was becoming pale. He was scared I was screaming in pain because the contractions now began. “You need to take her to Christian Park Hospital, I will bring her bag to the car” Darcy said and then ran off to my room to bring my bag. Liam picked me up bridal style and carried me to the car. I was in so much pain and didn’t know contractions hurt this bad. All day I thought it was a back ache and not contractions. Darcy returned and put my bag in the trunk of Liam’s car. “I will call and inform your grandparents that you have gone into labor and on your way to the hospital.” Darcy said. “Thanks Darcy. Now let’s go.” I screamed. “Which way is the hospital?” Liam was scared and panicking. Darcy soon gave him directions as I screamed in the back seat. Soon we were on our way. “Liam drive fast or I will have this baby in your car.” I screamed. The whole way I was shouting and blaming him for the pain I was experiencing. The drive took 20mins. Upon arrival I was taken to a waiting room. I was only 3cm wide and told to wait until I was close to 10cm to be taken to theater. My grandparents soon arrived and a few other of my relatives. The contractions were 15mins apart and kept getting worse every time they came back. I was in labor for over 9hrs before being taken to the theater. I was now 10cm wide and had to start pushing. Liam never left my side not even once. I was in so much pain and squeezed his hand each time the contractions came. He helped me throughout reminding me to take deep breaths when I seemed to be almost giving up. The room went quiet then we all heard the baby cry at 8pm exactly. “Meet your son” the nurse smiled and placed a small baby in my hands. He was so small and beautiful. Liam and I both stared at him amazed. After the baby and I were cleaned up, the baby and I returned to my room. My family was waiting to meet the baby. My grandparents were so delighted to meet their great grandson. The next day I was discharged from the hospital and returned home. Liam was still around and my grandparents asked him to stay with us. He never left the baby’s side, always holding him in his hands when he was awake and by this side as he slept. I had never seen this side of him. His face was always glowing with joy. My grandparents adored Liam and knew the Palmers as they worked together in their past before Liam’s parents past away. They insisted he stays with us which I didn’t like, he was always around the baby including feeding time which made me uncomfortable. I was still annoyed with him and I didn’t know how this was going to work out.
