Surprise Birthday Visit

Kate's POV

It was June and that meant it was both Janet and Liam’s birthdays. I couldn’t make any proper plans with both being thousands of miles away from me. So, I decided to invite Janet to Canada and celebrate her birthday here and plan a surprise trip to London for Liam.

Janet loved good things and good treats too. When she arrived, I went to pick her up from the airport with my granny’s driver John. Leon didn’t come along which upset her, but she understood I couldn’t take Leon with me to the airport. I made plans to make a few stops and get a few things for Janet and I but she didn’t let me. She just wanted to get home as soon as we could so that she could meet Leon. 

“Leon is so cute Kate. I wish I had a cute little baby too” she was holding him in her arms and not paying attention to anyone else.

“Well, I don’t think it would be a bad thing if you had a baby” I suggested then Janet rolled her eyes and looked at me.

“My dad would kill me Kate, even you know that” she said

“He wouldn’t kill his only daughter” Janet was an only child and had a single parent. Her mother died from breast cancer when Janet was 5 years old. Her father remarried but didn’t kids with his second wife. Since Janet was an only child, he treated her very special, she got everything she wanted in life.

“Girl the man freaked out when he found out I had a boyfriend and had him locked up”

“oh I remember that, and he wasn’t even your first boyfriend but your 4th” we both burst out laughing.

“And remember when he came over to my place and found contraception pill” I burst out laughing

“You dad is over protective. So am guessing no baby for you”

“Yeah”

Once Janet had spent enough time with Leon, we had some catching up to do. She was now dating some guy who worked for Standard Charted Bank as a Director. She seemed to really like this one compared to her previous boyfriends. Her dad approved of him and so did I. the rest of the day went well and since it was a warm day.

Two days later was Janet’s birthday and I had some much planned. Granny wasn’t working and offered to babysit for me. Grandpa allowed me to use his smaller private jet to go to Seattle. In Seattle we first started off by going to a spa which she enjoyed very much. We then went shopping for jewelry, clothes, shoes and hand bags. This was also an opportunity for me to buy some things for myself too. I hadn’t been out often since I had Leon, granny bought Leon plenty of clothes and shoes which he would wear until he was 2 years old. Grandpa also spoiled Leon too much with toys he wasn’t ready to play with for a while.

After shopping we checked into a hotel nearer to Six Seven Restaurant because that’s where we were having dinner later. The Six Seven Restaurant was an amazing place with a view of the bay.

“Thank you so much for a wonderful birthday Kate” Janet squeezed my hand across the table. “No one has ever gone an extra mile to make me this happy”

“Aww babe thank you, but I bet your dad and your new boyfriend would do the same”

“Don’t get me started with those two, they both decided to travel out this very week. Daddy sent money to my account and Jason promised me a trip to Paris when he gets back”

“Wow that’s nice”

“And my neighbor sent me messages that deliveries were made to my apartment this morning. Am guessing dad and Jason”

“That’s sweet of them”

“Anyway…………so, what have you planed for Liam’s birthday I know it’s in 4 days’ time?” Janet asked with so much curiosity.

I told Janet the plans I had for Liam’s birthday and she gave me a few tips as well. Janet was happy to know that Liam and I were getting along. She kept apologizing for telling him where I was. A part of me was glad she did because we were happy right now in our own way.

Friday before Liam’s Birthday

 On my way to the airport with my grandparents and Leon.

“when going to bed please make a bottle of milk for him and keep it in a bottler warmer. He sometimes likes to drink water so ensure to have a water bottle too.  You know where his baby food is kept in the kitchen and give him some………….” Granny interrupted me.

“sweetie we had this conversation like 2 days ago, I know am old, but I know how to take good care of a baby” Grandpa laughed at me

“Honey pie your grandmother raised 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Don’t worry about Leon he will be fine.”

“Alright” I took a deep breath and looked at Leon in my hands. He was playing with his tiny fingers in his mouth. “Mummy will miss you little guy and please don’t trouble my grandparents” I kissed his forehead and he giggled.

Granny insisted I leave Leon behind even though Liam would have been happy to see him and his family. I would surely take him with me once is was at least 6 months. I bid my fare well and made my way to the plane. Grandpa didn’t like me using public planes and forced me to get the private jet for the weekend.

My departure was at 9am from Edmonton airport to London Heathrow. Susan personally picked me up from the airport at 4pm. We went straight to her home where I freshened up and called home to check on Leon. Susan and her husband were the only persons aware of my visit. They were both saddened by Leon remining behind but understood why. Susan helped me plan the whole surprise, she suggested a private house her family owned located out of town. Liam hadn’t been there since he was like 6 and wouldn’t really remember. I liked the idea which gave us some privacy.

Liam’s POV

My Friday has been so busy in the London office. I have been in meeting after meeting and calling in to check on the other regional offices. At least I will get some rest since am off the whole lot of next week and I think after work am going to get myself some scotch for the weekend. Just then I hear a buzz from my phone and pick it up.

“Hi Sue”

“Hello brother, why do you sound tired?”

“Had a long day which has made me so exhausted” I sighed.  

“That’s shame. Go and take a hot bath and you will feel better” she said

“I will consider that when I get home.”

“And what time are you getting home?”

“Mmmmm why the sudden interest?” I can tell there’s something up her sleeve.

“Inviting you to dinner”

“When?”

“This evening”

“No way am so tired sis maybe another time”

“No, it has to be today”

“But…” I know there’s no way of talking her out of it. “I just hope it’s not a big audience Sue, I cannot handle that”

“Don’t worry it will be an audience of 4”

“Wait I hope this isn’t you hooking me up with a stranger. I don’t want to go on another one of your blind dates.” She burst out giggling

“No don’t worry about the 4 people”

“Please just tell me, I know it’s you and Charles and I but who’s the 4th person?”

“Dinner is at Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester 8pm, don’t be late please” then she hangs up.

Why do I always do what she asks lord? Anyway, let me head out since am done here.  

Liam left his office and went home to prepare himself on his forced dinner by his sister. He still got his scotch for later if the dinner was a flop. The restaurant they were having dinner was on the fancy side, so he had to dress well.

Liam wore a royal blue suit with a white dress shirt without a tie nor bow tie. His hair was combed back, and he wore his nice cologne. He purposely arrived at the restaurant 10mins late to spy on the plus one but realized he was the first to arrive. The waiter ushered him in to a table in the far corner with an amazing view of the city lights.

“Excuse me, this is a table for two”

“Yes, it is Sir, that’s what was requested for” he said this as he placed the drinks menu on the table.

“By whom?”

“Ms. Susan, I believe”

“Okay, I will give her a call” I picked the menu and started flipping through the pages.

“Sure sir, what would you like to drink?”

“I will have a shot of Glenfiddich on the rocks”

“How many years?”

“21”

“Coming right up” the waiter excused himself and soon returned with his drink.

Liam called his sister to find out how far they were and why the table was for two. She didn’t answer her phone the first time and he tried to call Charles. He was so focused on his phone that he didn’t realize Kate standing in front of him.

“It’s only you and I having dinner that’s why it’s a table for two” Liam looked up and saw Kate standing in front of him. She wore a beautiful black which was mid-thigh long and stuck to her body like a second skin. Liam was still in shock to see Kate there with him.

“Are you going to offer me a seat or should i keep standing?”

“Kate…….. What are you doing in London?” Liam stood up still in shock. He walked over to where she stood and gave her a light hug

“Well you sound more shocked than happy” she responded

“Come please take a seat” he led her to their table and helped her seat

“Am actually pleased to see you, are you here alone?” he asked

“Yes, Liam am here alone. Leon is back home with my family”

“Ok, I miss that little guy”

“I promise to bring him with me next time I visit” she smiled, and her smile was beautiful.

“You look very beautiful Kate” his words not only made her blush but also melt inside

“You don’t look to bad yourself” she smiled.

The waiter returned and took Kate’s drink order which was a bottle of wine. The dinner went very well, and Liam was glad he came. He couldn’t get his eyes off Kate, she was glowing. Pregnancy did justice to her body, her curves were more visible than before, and her boobs were much bigger.

Liam and Kate head for his apartment after he asked her where she was staying, and she informed him that she didn’t mind going to his apartment. Shortly after they left the Restaurant Susan sent Kate a message informing her that Liam’s apartment was set for later and that Kate’s bags were taken there as well.

Liam was unlocking his apartment door when he noticed the rose petals on the floor and lite candles and glasses. He stopped and turned to Kate who stood behind him smiling wide hoping he like the job susan did. The trail led to Liam’s bed room which they both followed right after Liam took off his and Kate’s coats. His room was not how he had left it either, it was now tidy and had more candles lite. The scenery was romantic.

“Wow, you coming to London has brought so many surprises I must say” Liam made Kate shy as he spoke. Just then Kate heard the side clock tick indicating it was now midnight. She walked over to the side table where a small box was wrapped.

“Happy Birthday Liam” and she handed him the small wrapped box, he reached out and opened it. Inside was a silver Rolex wrist watch.

“You remembered?” Kate nod her head and smiled

“Of course, I did and that’s why I came”

“Thank you” he reached out his hands and wrapped them around her waist and looked deep into her eyes. She stood on her toes and kissed him. This was the first time they kissed each other since they found out she was pregnant.

Well since it was a romantic set which Susan set, they couldn’t let it go to waste, they made love to each other passionately.
