Noah's POV:
Mom and Jasmine want to have a business together. I don't know if that is a good idea. My girlfriend is not used to working. I'm not sure she will do it now. It would be great if she could stay all day without doing anything. Sadly, life doesn't work this way. If you want something, you have to earn money for it. There are many things that she can do. You don't need to do physical activities. She loves taking care of herself. I mean, the way she dresses and how she looks like makeup. Social media is a good way for her to share what she is doing. Also, she won't break a nail. I don't know why she is so lazy. Her parents are not like that. They go to work every day. Maybe Jasmine has other ideas in her head. I won't be her sponsor. She can forget about this. I need money as well. Dad and I are paying the bills and buying food. My grandparents wanted to help, but we didn't let them. They were doing it while I was younger. Now it's my turn to do it. The other thing is that it feels nice to take responsibility for something. I feel like a real adult. Jasmine needs to find a job. I won't let her stay like that. It's good that she wants to have a business with my mom. Well, she needs to work. Mom won't do everything alone. I hope that she will realize how hard it is to earn money.
A few days ago, we had dinner with Jasmine. I don't know what happened. There was something wrong with the wine. I have never felt so weak from it. I always drink one cup. That is more than enough for me. This time, it was different. What is weird is that no one else felt this way. Maybe I had something in my drink. The only thing that I remember is that Jasmine took me to my room. I fell asleep quickly. I told her to leave, but I don't think she did it.
I woke up and went to get ready for work. At least the headache is over. I need to investigate the wine. Well, it won't be today. I already have enough work to do in the office. When I was ready, I went to eat. We have a table under a shelter. If it starts raining, we close the doors, and it becomes an indoor one. That is the privilege of living in a house. I went there and saw Clara serving the food. This woman cooks delicious. I love her meals. I wonder when my mom will start doing it. Probably never.
- Good morning. - I said
- To you, too. How was your night? - granny asked
- It was good.
- Bad wine.
- For sure, it was.
- Nothing happened to me. I guess only you had problems with it. - mom said
- Maybe. I don't know what happened.
- Well, we won't buy from it anymore.
- I don't think it's from the wine. I have drunk from it before.
- What should I tell you?
- Do you think it could've been from something you drank before you came home? - grandpa asked
- No, it's impossible.
- What if you had something in your wine? - granny asked
- Like what?
- I don't know. It's only a guess.
- You should eat now. We'll talk about this later. - dad said
- Yes, sure.
Dad and I finished breakfast and went to work. This time, we were in my car. It's not like there is a difference. I went to my office to be greeted by mail. I checked everything, which was important. This means that subscriptions for magazines are going in the trash. My assistant came soon. She will bring me some news.
- Do you need something?
- This came in the mail two minutes ago. They need an answer for you.
- I will check it later.
- It's urgent.
- Ok, I will see what it is about. Thank you.
- I'll tell you if something else comes.
I checked the printed message. I know these people. They wanted to buy a project from us. The fault that the customers chose our company is not ours. I'm not selling the rights or the project. I took the papers and went to my dad's office. I waited for him to finish his meeting. He came after half an hour.
- I'm sorry for the wait.
- It's ok.
- What is going on?
- We have a problem. Check this out.
- I know. I checked the mail.
- What should we do? We can't let them take advantage of us. We are not selling anything to them.
- Don't worry. These people won't receive anything from us. I will deal with them.
- Are you sure? I can help you.
- You won't mess with them, ok?
- But I want to help you. We can beat them.
- Relax. This is my job. Go and do yours.
- Fine. I'll be in my office if you need me.
- Thanks.
Until lunchtime, I checked all the mail that had come. Later, I went to eat something. Dad was busy and couldn't come. I got a message from Jasmine. She wanted to know if I had some free time for her. I can lie to her and say no, but I won't do it. I told her where to come. I bet she knew I was here. She can't be here in ten minutes. Her house is not close to this restaurant. She gave the waiter her order and looked at me.
- Do you need to tell me something?
- No, I only wanted to see you.
- Well, you see me now.
- How do you feel? No more wine for you. - she said, chuckling
- You were the one who insisted me to drink.
- What? Are you accusing me of something?
- No, I'm only saying the facts.
- Everyone was drinking. You can't stay like that. You have to join them.
- Something happened that night.
- Something like what?
- I don't know.
- Why do you care so much? Don't you have more important things?
- Yes, but I want to know why I felt that way.
- What if you never understand? You will waste your time.
- Maybe, but it might be worth it.
- Focus on your things.
- You don't want me to investigate. Why?
- Because this doesn't matter. It happened only once.
- What if it happens again?
- You are crazy.
- Maybe I am.
- Can we talk about something else?
- How is your business with my mom?
- We need more ideas. My face is not enough. - she said, and I laughed
- You can share your life with people.
- What about the money?
- Why does everything need to be related to that?
- Because I need them.
- Point for you.
I talked with Jasmine for some time. This girl spends too much money on unnecessary things. The problem is not mine. I don't pay for that. The rest of the afternoon I spent in my office. I had some work from yesterday. Then, I continued with the tasks from today. After work, my dad and I went home. Clara was making dinner. I walked to my room for a shower. At least Jasmine wasn't here. I don't mind her, but she can't come to my room whenever she wants. I was getting dressed when I heard my mom's voice.
- Did you do it? How you couldn't? If you don't do it soon, he will dump you. Do what I have told you.
I wonder what that is about. It's better if I don't know. When I was ready, I went to the table. My grandparents were already here. Carla has prepared everything.
- Hello. How was your day? - granny asked
- Good. I didn't have much work.
- I believe something has happened. - grandpa said
- Nothing happened, dad. Everything is fine. - dad said
- You two are hiding something from me. You know I can come and find out.
- You need to rest. It's our time to take over the business.
- And you are doing it great. - granny said
- Thanks. - I said
- Maybe I need to come to visit you.
- No! - both of us said
- Why not? I want to see the office of the big boss. - she said, chuckling
- There is no need for that. - I said
- Something is going on here. - grandpa said
- Is dinner ready? - mom asked
- Do you want me to serve the main meal as well? - Carla asked
- Bring everything.
- Yes, miss.
- She has problems.
- Why do you say it? - I asked
- Because lately, she has been distracted.
- Mom, leave the woman alone. Don't investigate her personal life.
- I'm not.
- It doesn't sound like that.
- Here you go. Do you need anything else? - Carla asked and served everything
- No, that is for now. Thanks. You can go.
- Yes, miss.
- There is nothing wrong with her.
- That's because you are not at home all day.
- Someone has to work. That includes you.
- Well said, honey. - granny said
All of us had a peaceful dinner. Mom is the only one who is complaining about Clara. Everyone else likes her. I don't know what is her problem. Not every person is like her. Also, the woman is here to work. She is not my mom's assistant. It's not like my grandma will let her have one. I don't know how my parents met, but I don't see the blooming love. My grandparents also don't love my mom. They like her, but that's it. Their relations are not the best.
Around 10 pm, I went out and sat on the chairs next to the coffee table. Sometimes, I like being outside at that time. I was lost in my thoughts when someone sat next to me. It was my grandma.
- Are you ok? Your mind is busy.
- I'm fine.
- Can I ask you something?
- Yes, sure.
- What is going on between you and Jasmine? You two don't have the so-called blooming love.
- I don't know.
- If you don't like her, why are you dating her?
- I never said that.
- There is no need to. I can see it.
- I like Jasmine.
- But do you love her?
- I think so.
- You don't sound sure.
- For now, I am happy with my relationship status.
- You said it, not me.
- Granny.
- I know, I know. You like her.
- She wants kids from me.
- No offense, but I don't see her as a mother.
- Give her some time. It won't happen tomorrow.
- This girl doesn't do anything. How do you expect her to take care of a kid?
- I know she can do it. This will be her responsibility.
- I will believe it when I see it.
- Don't tell her. Otherwise, she will insist.
- I won't open my mouth.
I talked with my grandma until she started falling asleep. I sent her to bed. After some time, I did the same. I love talking with my grandparents. I feel like they understand me. I can share with them everything. These are the people who I trust the most. Well, my parents, too. Jasmine might not be the perfect girlfriend, but I like her. Also, she and my mom understand each other perfectly. It's like she is her daughter. This is the good news. After all, I wanted everyone to like her. She can change herself, but I don't think she will. I hope that she won't insist on me with the kids.
