Noah's POV:
Jasmine should give birth soon. I can't wait to see our baby girl. I want her to look like me. Granny wants that, too. She still doesn't like my girlfriend. They don't talk much. Mom is taking care of her. These two talk about the baby every day. They have already done the shopping. I have never seen such fancy baby clothes. Also, I think they are too much. Kids grow too quickly. After two months, none of these clothes will fit her anymore. It's a waste of money. Well, they are mine. I should stop giving Jasmine so much. Otherwise, she will spend everything. I think she uses the baby as an excuse to shop for herself. I have noticed her new clothes in our wardrobe. I won't check the price because I might get a headache. Granny told me I should take care of our money, not Jasmine. I know she is right. The thing is that I don't want to keep my girlfriend like a prisoner. Maybe I need to give her less. That way, she won't spend so much. There is something called a limit. I don't think she knows what it is. For now, I will focus on the baby. When it's born, I'll see what I should do. I mean, with the mother. She can't do whatever she wants here. The house is not hers. I was kind enough to let her live here. I don't want her to take advantage of this. I hope that the baby will be born without any complications.
Mom and Jasmine went to the hospital yesterday. I wanted to go, but they didn't let me. I'm sure the father has to be with the baby. It's a bit weird that they went alone. Hopefully, if something happens, my mom will help her. I know there are many doctors in the hospital. I texted my mom for any news, but she didn't reply. Maybe something has happened. They didn't even tell us to which hospital they were going. Something is going on here. I believe that Jasmine's parents will never see their granddaughter.
Currently, I am in my room. I had breakfast an hour ago. I keep waiting for news from my mom and Jasmine. None of them has called. I can see them, but I don't know where they are. I can't go to every hospital in the city. There are many. After some time in my room, I walked out to the backyard. Dad was there with my grandpa. They were drinking coffee. I don't want to talk about the baby in front of him. He might tell my grandma. Things are already complicated enough.
- Hey, kid. Come and sit with us. - grandpa said
- Thanks.
- You don't look much in the mood.
- I'm fine.
- They will call. - dad said
- It's weird that they didn't tell us anything. - I said
- I agree. Something is going on here. - grandpa said
- Like what?
- I don't know, but your mom and Jasmine are hiding something. They always talk alone in places where no one will hear them.
- Dad, this is too much. Don't you think? - dad asked
- This is my opinion.
- He is right. I think I have to talk with Jasmine's parents. She never lets me meet them. That happened only once.
- Why?
- I have no idea. I guess they have some problems with her. I didn't ask.
- You have to do it soon.
- The thing is that I don't want to hide this from her.
- She won't let you do it if you tell her.
- I don't want to lie to her.
- You won't do that. Tell her after you do it.
- What?
- Talk with her parents first, and then with her. She won't be able to do anything.
- Dad, stop giving him ideas. - dad said
- This is what I think.
- Don't argue. I will figure out what to do.
- We are here if you need help with something. - dad said
- Thanks. I appreciate it.
I talked with my dad and grandpa for a while. Later, I went for a shower. It's not like this will help me much. I want to know what is happening with Jasmine. Hopefully, the baby is fine. This is all that matters to me. Maybe she is right. All I care about is the baby, not her. I will make it up to her.
When I was ready, I went into the kitchen. I made myself something to eat. My nerves are making me eat more. After some time, I heard talking. I walked out and saw my mom and Jasmine.
- Will you two explain to me what is going on? Why did no one call us? - I asked
- Everything is fine. You don't have to worry. Honey, go to bed. I will take care of her.
- Thanks. - Jasmine said and left
- What is going on?
- Lower your voice. You will wake her up.
- Wake up, who?
- Charlie.
- What?
- Look at her. Isn't she cute?
- That is the baby.
- Yes, why? Aren't you happy?
- Why didn't you tell me? I could've come.
- This was her wish.
- Did something happen? How the baby was born? Were there any complications?
- Everything was fine. Let's go inside.
- Look who decided to come back. - granny said
- Calm down. You will wake her up. - mom said
- She is here?
- Yes. This is Charlie.
- Charlie? Did the names finish?
- What? This is a perfect name.
- Yes, for a boy.
- I will take the baby and will go to check on Jasmine. Please, don't set the house on fire. - I said and left
I walked to our room. Jasmine was sleeping. I sat next to her on the bed and took the baby. She doesn't look like Jasmine or me. Maybe this will change with time. The baby is cute. She is so tiny. I already love her. I saw her moving. She probably can't see me. I know that babies don't see from the beginning. After some time, this will happen. Jasmine has to breastfeed her soon. Well, I won't wake her up. She needs a rest. I will talk with her when she wakes up.
I put the baby in its bed and walked downstairs. I need to check on my grandma and mom. Otherwise, I don't want to imagine what can happen. They will keep arguing because of the baby. Jasmine wouldn't have been here if it hadn't been for it. I think the same is true for my mom. She is here because of me. It's not like we talk much.
- Where are my mom and grandma?
- Your mom went out. She said that she would buy some things for Jasmine. Your grandma is in her room. - dad said
- What happened?
- They argued. Nothing new.
- When they will stop. It's getting annoying.
- I don't know. Where is Charlie? I heard this is the name.
- Yes, it is. She is in her bed. Jasmine is there.
- Good. Do you think the baby will help them to understand each other?
- It can, but I'm not sure.
- Your grandma has an ability. When something gets in her head, it never goes out. - grandpa said, chuckling
- I heard that.
- I know.
- Hey, granny. How are you?
- Where is the baby?
- Sleeping in the room with Jasmine.
- You left her alone with it? I'm going to get it.
- No, you will wake them up.
- See? She is not even taking care of it.
- Jasmine needs a rest. Leave her alone.
- I want the baby to stay with me.
- No, it will be with Jasmine and me.
- She won't take care of it. You will make a mistake trusting her.
- This is my business. She is capable enough to do her job as a mother.
- Fine. Don't come to me when the baby starts starving. - she said and left
- Granny!
- Leave her alone. She needs some time. I will go and talk with her. - grandpa said
- I don't understand her.
- We'll talk again later. - he said and left
- Dad.
- I know. It could've been worse.
- How? If this will be daily, I will move out.
- Don't do anything before you think about it. Ok?
- Sure. The thing is that I don't know how long I can survive like that.
- I will help you. If you want to move out with Jasmine and the baby, you can count on me, but please think about this.
- I don't want to do it. The thing is that I don't want to listen to my grandma and mom arguing every day.
- This won't happen. I promise you. Go and check on Jasmine and the baby. I will talk with your mom.
- Thanks, dad.
I stayed outside for some time. Later, I went back to my room. Jasmine was still sleeping. I looked at the baby. I don't want it to grow with its two grandmothers keep arguing. I won't let that happen. I took it in my arms and sat on the bed. After some time, I saw Jasmine moving. She looked at me and smiled. I can't be mad at her. She didn't do anything. I gave her the baby and looked at her. I need to know what happened at the hospital.
- Hey, how do you feel?
- I'm fine. Maybe a little bit tired.
- How was the birth?
- Not so bad. Honestly, it was easier than I expected.
- Good.
- You don't seem happy.
- It's not because of you.
- She doesn't like the baby, does she?
- Granny?
- Yes.
- No, she does. I want to know what happened at the hospital.
- What do you mean?
- Why did only you and my mom go? What happened?
- Nothing. I didn't want you to worry about me. Also, I prefer to have fewer people around me in such moments.
- Will you show the baby to your parents?
- I don't know. I would love to, but I don't think they will care.
- This is their grandchild. How will they not care?
- It's simple. Our relations became complicated.
- Did something happen? You don't talk much about them.
- I have nothing to say. I shouldn't talk about this.
- I won't pressure you.
- Do you like her?
- How can't I? She is mine.
- Look. If they don't like that I am here, I will leave.
- What? This won't happen. You are not going anywhere.
- But I don't want to stay here if they will keep criticizing me every day.
- No one will do this. I promise you. The baby needs you. Me too.
- Are you sure? I think you want to keep me because of the baby.
- No, I'm doing it because of you.
- If you say so.
- You and the baby are the only thing that matters now.
- I will stay here for some time. If things continue to be the same, I will leave. The baby will come with me.
- No problem. I'll make sure that nothing will happen.
- You said it.
I talked with Jasmine until dinnertime. She wanted to eat in the room. I stayed with her. I don't know how I will be able to fix everything. This won't be easy. Granny won't give up. My girlfriend is not perfect, but no one is. I don't understand what she wants from her. The only thing she has to do is take care of the baby. It's not easy, but it's not hard either. It takes time and patience. There must be a way I can change my grandma's opinion. I don't want to move out of the house. Well, if she keeps acting like this, I might do it. I hope that Jasmine will be a good mother.
