HER REVENGEFUL MATE: HER BEAST

Seated in the hall were prominent guests who had gathered for a special event about to take place. Phoenix smiled as she shyly stared at the large crowd wondering which one of them would eventually become her destined mate. Today was her mating ceremony as she had come of age and was ready to have a mate. Different emotions swerved inside her as she was both nervous and excited, she got up from her chair as all eyes gazed at her walking to the platform where her father stood, patiently waiting for her to walk up the stairs leading to the platform. "Today is a great day for everyone here, particularly my daughter, Phoenix." Her father Alken said to the crowd looking over to her as he passed her a smile of acknowledgment. "My daughter has a present for you all." He announced enveloping her in a one-sided hug. "You better get your act together and do it right." He whispered coldly to her as he made his way down the stairs. The door leading to the exit of the hall barged open as warriors charged in and went on a killing spree as everyone ran around in confusion trying to find an exit but there was no way out, blood splattered everywhere as deafening screams of people filled the air. Many were either slaughtered or fighting for their lives as more warriors trooped in overpowering the large crowd that never had an edge against them because they were unarmed. The warriors were highly skilled men who had hatred filled in their eyes, blood seemed like water in their eyes, and had they no sympathy for whom they killed, young, old, or disabled. Phoenix was frozen in shock as she tried to comprehend what was going on, she looked around in search of her father but she couldn't seem to find him anywhere in sight. Her hands trembled in fear as she prayed to the moon goddess that her life won't end this way. Before she could think of an answer as to why the whole place was under attack, a hand clasped her while blindfolding her and another tying her hands, she struggled to get free but to no avail, she was carried and flung over by her abductors, the last thing she heard were screams and the clashes of swords as she blacked out. Phoenix woke on the hard cold floor and dark room with a little window that allows light to pass through, she looked around and noticed she was in a dungeon and chained to the wall. Her body ached from laying on the bare floor for too long and she winced in pain trying to move her body which was futile and brought more pain as the chains hurt her delicate skin. She looked at her wrists and ankles, noticing bloody bruises on them. She tried recalling what had happened and remembered she was abducted from her mating ceremony, before she could think more of it the door opened and a tall muscular man walked in and her head snapped in his direction. His beauty couldn't be overlooked as his golden eyes shoned brightly in the dark room and his build was like that of a warrior. Immediately her wolf screamed in joy. "Mate." She gasped as her brown small eyes looked up at the man in front of her whose lips now curved into a frown as he stared down at her, he could feel the mating bond that connected them, and that made him angrier, his wolf rejoiced happily that he had found his mate and wanted her envelopes in his arms but his heart said otherwise. He squatted on the floor beside her, grabbing her chin roughly as he stared into her brown eyes that looked scared. "Ugly." He whispered to himself but it was loud enough for her to hear, she pretended not to have heard him as she flashed him a weak smile. "Please where am I ?" She asked daringly even when she knew she was in a dungeon, she stared into his captivating eyes that looked cold but still had a soft spot. "Your death room." He answered glaring at her coldly as her eyes turned to the knife strapped to his waist. "What are you doing?" Phoenix asked, trembling, she wondered why all these was happening to her on her special day, most importantly why was her mate treating her this way. All her life she had thought that when she finally meets her mate, he would love her unconditionally and take her far away from her abusive father who had never made her feel loved. "Taking revenge." He glared at her "What do you mean by that? You have no idea who you're messing with, let me go right now." Phoenix yelled at him struggling to set herself free as adrenalin surged through her veins but moving furiously only added to the pain she felt, she didn't mind as long as she would be let out of this place that reminded her of memories she wished she could never recall as they haunted her. "You have no idea who you're talking to, do you?" He growled at her as a low whimper escaped her lips, every confidence she had mustered was crushed as she faze lowered to the ground in fear. "Why do you do this to me? I'm your mate." Phoenix muttered loud enough for him to hear but he let out a low growl making shivers run down her spine. "You're not worthy." He snickered in her ear as she furrowed at him in surprise. She prayed that he won't say the words of rejection she had dreaded all her life, she had heard a lot of wolves who lived a sad and depressed life after being rejected by their mates and she never wanted that. "What?" She asked as her eyes widened curiously. "I would never accept you as my mate because you're an enemy of mine." He spat.
