Chapter 4

914 Words
It was currently dark out when my parents decided to show up back home. They walked in only to find Charlotte fast asleep on the couch while I and Esther were still watching TV. My mother’s footsteps beamed through the room, looking from Charlotte to us she seemed a bit taken back. “This is a surprise.” she said. Esther turning her head to the direction of my mother she smiled. Mum smiled back, “Hello Esther.” she greeted Esther, Dad came into view seconds after. My best friend was still out cold on the couch, neither of the commotion woke her up, she didn’t even flinch. “Hey Mrs. And Mr. King.” Esther greeted both my parents a smile upon her face and theirs as well. After asking her how she was and her asking them the same question, my parents left for their room, leaving us kids alone. A few moments had passed when I decided on making us dinner, if my parents had gone out all day, they most certainly had dinner before they got here. Which meant it would only be the three of us, leaving Esther with sleeping Charlotte I went into the kitchen. It took about an hour or so to prepare dinner, just a simple dishes nothing too special. Calling in Charlotte and Esther we sat at the table in the dinning room. Charlotte sat in front of me and Esther beside me, serving the food we began eating. Esther took a bite out of the meal, looking at me whilst she nodded. “Not bad, this is good.” another bite was taken from her plate, giving her a shy smile I continued with my meal. Charlotte had a different opinion concerning my cook and the meal I prepared. “I Could do better.” she snorted, in response I simply shrugged in my seat. “I highly doubt it.” I murmured under my breath making sure no one heard me, and they didn’t. We are dinner in some what peace. After dinner, Esther helped me with doing the dishes while Charlotte went to lie down on my bed. Yes she was spending the night, lucky me note the sarcasm. Closing up the dishwasher I turned to face Esther. “I should probably go drop you off, it’s getting late.” it was now something around 9pm I believe. “You’re probably right.” she jumped off the island landing only inches away from me. I took a step back creating some what some distance between us then smirked, “When am I not.” She gave me a light punch on my shoulder while she chuckled. Grabbed the keys off the wall before we headed out into the drive way. The drive to her house would not take us a lot of minutes in fact maybe it only took like fifteen minutes. I drove us in slight quietness. Pulling up to her house I parked the car. Esther got of the car standing right in front of the window, I lowered the glass window which resulted to her leaned against the car door. “Today was fun, I had a great time and meal. Some other time I’d love to stay over, can I?” Her smile mesmerised me, just in the few days I had known her I could not deny her the pleasure of having my presence. “I’m glad you enjoyed it, Of course anytime.” “Okay, Thanks bye.” she stepped away from the car then started walking towards her house, I drove off once I saw her close the door. The illumination of the TV screen greeted me in the dark room of the house, switching it off I went straight to my room. Charlotte sat on my bed leg crossed with both her arms resting on her thighs. Walking towards the closet I took out my sleeping attire. “Who is panda?” Charlotte asked. Looking up to her I noticed she was going through my phone. Taking my phone away I hissed. “No one Char.” reading the text Esther sent me, I replied. Panda ?: Good night, I forgot. Me: Same to you!! Charlotte cleared her throat, “Well they ain’t no one. They have got an emoji beside their name— Wait is that Esther?” Charlotte grasped in realization, simply rolling my eyes I ignored. “You like her, don’t you.” she asked. “Yes Charlotte, I do.” walking over to the other side of the bed I sat, Char still smiling from ear to ear. “Are you going to ask her out?” she got too close, she definitely did make invading my personal space a habit. “No I won’t, I can’t and before you ask why. Firstly, she is not interested in me and she is straight like you.” pulling the comforter over my body I comfortably laid on bed. “Why do you lie to yourself, you want her and she wants some on you.” she wiggled her eyebrows in a playful manner. “Just admit it Ruby, You’re just too afraid.” “Good night Charlotte, I’m going to get some sleep, so should you.” switching off the lights I turned the other way. Charlotte patted my shoulder, “Deny it all you want but you’ll see I was right.” laying in bed she Char placed her arms around my waist burying her face in my neck. I sighed in annoyance, she always made sure to hold me when we slept it felt good but it was invasion. Placing my hand on top of hers lightly squeezed it, I still did miss this girl.
