Souls Be Damned

Chapter 1 A Memory     The rain purred as the wind shifted its direction, such a relaxing sound on a full moon. I couldn't help but feel the need to feel the brisk air upon my skin. But I couldn't bring myself to enjoy it either. A life taken from you can destroy your soul to the very core.     "Anna." A voice brought me back from my thoughts. A voice full of power that even another alpha couldn't resist responding to. I turned around to see my brother Aden looking at me with frustration but I could see him soften as I looked in his eyes.      My oldest brother, the head of our family pack since our parents were killed. We're a family of alphas, my father had the fortune of being mated with another alpha. We're the only alpha family known in the Fates Territory.      "You've been staring out the window for past 20 minutes. We need to gather information on the attack last week..." he trailed off knowing his words had an effect on me.     "What do you want me to do about it?" I said as I shifted my stance from the window.      "I understand you were protecting those children, but was it really necessary to kill him. Now we have no leads on what those damn demons are up to!" I could hear the anger in his voice as he slammed his fist on the desk.     "I did what had to be done." A low growl escaped from my throat.      "What kind of excuse is that! He could have been put on trial, the way our laws are put Anna."      "Where were those f*****g laws a year ago huh?" I scoffed as I saw Aden's eyes turn from brown to gold.     "What are you hiding."      "Is that a question or a demand?" I chuckled to myself as I straighten my stance. He walked over to me his eyes sill gold.     "Don't coy with me anymore. Stop avoiding the question! That's all you've been doing for the past 4 months. Ever since you came back you've done nothing but kill! Humans, werewolves, witches, demons, even vampires! Are trying to start a war with all Five Factions?"     "I don't have explain myself to you." I scowled at him as I tried to leave the room. But instead he grabbed my arm and swung me around to face him again.     "Show me your eyes!" He demanded and I tried to gain control of myself.     "No." I stared at him, but it only mad him more angry. He pushed me against the wall causing the lamp on the nightstand to fall.      "Now Anna!" He screamed and hit the wall to the side of me, I gave no reaction. It's my secret.     "What is all his commotion in here Aden?" Liam said as he opened the door, his eyes fell on us and jumped to tear Aden off me. Liam is my other brother, we're a family of three, Liam being the second born.      "What the hell do you think you're doing Aden! The f**k is wrong with you?" Liam pushed Aden back further, letting out a growl and stare down.     "Enough already." I said as I walked towards the door to close it. "I guess we can't live like this without the both of you knowing the truth.     You see a year ago, I had just turned 17, I was in the forest looking for my mate. I ended up being kidnapped and drugged by a group of rogues, beaten and then raped. The drug weaken me to where I was unable to unleash my wolf. Wolfsbane. But this one was stronger, a witch spelled it with their herbs.      When my brothers found me, we found out I was pregnant. A child before mating, this was a curse on me. Mating with someone other than your own mate would break the bond. Word got out I was pregnant and another witch came to me a stabbed me multiple times, I lost my child.      I grieved for months, the pain I felt of being unmated and the lost of my child destroyed me. I wanted to nothing more than to die. Over the next few months I regained my strength and became the alpha I was. I was questioned multiple times how it was I became stronger within a couple days. I had a secret, hell everybody has a secret. Mine was a deal, a promise, a vow.     I would find this rogue wolf and witch. He will pay.
