“Joel, it’s Alyra thank goddess I’ve found you” what the actual f**k is happening right now? We just got told 3 days ago that Alyra was missing and possibly had been kidnapped! She told me that she’s fine and she had run away from her pack! Thank the goddess my girl was ok and calling me for help! She told me to meet her tomorrow morning at 8, but I couldn’t wait that long so I told her I can come now! I quickly pack a bag and head to over to my brothers office “hey man, I’m heading out for a few days to clear my head! This s**t with Alyra is killing me. Call me the second you hear about her whereabouts” “Don’t go looking for her man! Who knows what trouble she’s gotten herself into. I need you safe” “I won’t. I’m going camping on the Murray, Ray loves it there” My wolf Ray loves when we go camping by the Murray, I let him out at night and hunt for Rabbits and Foxes. There’s not many campers out in winter so it’s much easier to stay hidden. Ryan nodded believing my story and I linked an omega to get an SUV ready for me.

I spent the night with Alyra, it was nice to finally see her again. It’s been a while since we last saw each other. Her Pack doesn’t invite us to parties anymore. Her mums suspicious of our friendship and thinks we could be mates. Now that I know what’s been going on, they were keeping us apart so we couldn’t ruin their plans!

I turned 18 last month and of course Moon Shine hosted a charity ball that night so Alyra and Mila couldn’t come, funny how all this is starting to make sense now. I was 80% hopeful that when I arrived at the hotel I’d feel the mate pull. But no! Nothing! Alyra is not my mate. Damn it! I’ve liked Alyra the moment we met at Jacks Party wearing a tiny pink dress. Her body was something out of a magazine like a life sized photoshop cut out! How could this beauty be single? Why aren’t guys hanging off her? Jack told me she was his and off limits but Alyra quickly shut that down telling him to get off his high horse and find someone else to be his pet. From that moment on, we spoke almost daily and become so close but to her, I’m more like a brother.

I put my arm around her wishing this was the rest of my life but now I know we both have mates out there waiting for us. I message Charlotte, Luna Layla’s daughter, and ask her to arrange a meeting with her mum first thing in the morning. It’s urgent.

I woke up at 7 to my phone buzzing. It was Charlotte, I needed time to wake up before I answer her. Alyra was already up and dressed and a coffee in her hands and in deep thought! What the hell was she thinking about. She was staring at me and then it clicked!! I wasn’t wearing anything and it would have been the first time she’s seen me basically naked. I smiled and got her attention but she seemed off with the fairies this morning and a little annoyed. My phone hadn’t stopped so I answered Charlotte and took the call outside!

“Finally, he answers. Are you kidding me right now? You want a meeting with MY MUM? Today?! Do you know it’s kind of like MY BIRTHDAY!”

Oh s**t! charlotte turned 18, today! f**k me! I wonder if her mate is in her pack!

“Hey Charz, happy birthday love. I really need to speak to your mum, it’s kinda urgent. I have a friend in desperate need and I think your mum can help her”

“Oh mummy dearest can indeed help her but why should we help you? You broke my heart Joel and my dad does not like you!”

“Charz please, I told you, I like you a lot but it’s not fair on our mates to have kept it going, we might still be mates, how funny would that be?”

“What makes you think I haven’t found my mate yet?”

“Well have you?” Charlotte didn’t reply, I then knew she hadn’t found him. Something in me was wanting her to keep talking to me. “Love are you there?”

“Yes I am Joel! Fine! I’ll help you. Be here at 9am and don’t be late!” She hang up.

Anger hit me like a tonne of bricks! Why did she just hang up without saying goodbye? She’s so frustrating and a spoilt brat! I can’t wait to tell her that in person too! My phone rang, why was Ryan calling me? “Hey big brother whats up?”

“Whatever you are doing at the hotel, leave! Moon Shine suspect you are with Alyra and are heading our way. Don’t waste your time and get back here. Is Alyra with you?”

“Yes she is, she ran away man, they were forcing her to mate with Jack and he’s not her mate!”

“I’ll cover for you, get her out of there and hurry they are not far by the sounds of it”

I stormed back into the hotel room and ordered Alyra to hurry up and pack her stuff. I didn’t want to tell her where we are going until we were in the car and out of this shithole.

“Where are we going?”

“Black Moon”

“Now? Why are we in a hurry?”

“Yes now, Moon Shine suspected I was with you In the hotel, looks like the fairy sold us out”

“Damn it! He told me I had til Midday, it’s not even 8am!”

“We are meeting Luna Layla at 9am, I spoke to Charlotte and arranged a meeting. It’s her birthday today and I’m feeling quite nervous. I never get nervous, why now?”

“Joel, do you like Charlotte?”

“Yes I’ve always felt attracted to her, parting with her after our summer fling hurt me but I knew it was the right thing to do! I didn’t want to fall for her so close to turning 18! We have mates and it wouldn’t have been fair to them!”

“Maybe you guys are mates? Have you thought about it?” I thought about it, and yes it could be a possibility but I highly doubt the moon goddess would pair me with Charlotte.

“Maybe” oh f**k, f**k, f**k!! Her dads going to KILL ME! Either way I’m screwed for the summer fling and I’m screwed for breaking it off with the possibility of Charlotte being my mate! I was sweating so much, Alyra thought it was funny! There’s no way! She will be with an Alpha, I’m just a knock off Alpha waiting to take over a dumbass who is mistreating his pack members.

We were almost there and the closer we got the more my heart starting pulsating and I really needed a change of clothes! “Could Charlotte really be our mate Ray?”

** Alyra POV **

I am so angry that Fairy sold me out! Never trust a fairy! Dad always said they were no good to us! Nothing but selfish pricks. Joel was flustered and very sweaty! I didn’t know what was going on until he started rambling on about Charlotte.

I suggested maybe they are mates?? He went silent for a bit and started sweating! His body was in a fight with itself! I could heart his heart racing every time I mentioned Charlottes name and asked if we could stop somewhere to get her a present. I wanted to make a good impression for our first meet.

My eyes were turning amber! What the hell? Why is my eye colour changing? Am I really turning feral? “Mae are you there ? Can you hear me?” My wolf is silent. She’s said she had to stay down low to stop the feral rogue taking over! Joel started slowing down and was in full overdrive! He needed a new shirt. He was soaking wet. What the hell was wrong with him ? I could tell he was arguing with his wolf.

And then it hit me! The smell of Cinnamon Scrolls. Wow they must have a good cook. I hope we have some in our meeting! We got to the massive gates that said Welcome to Lorna Estate. We are here. This could be my new home. The guards waved us through as we headed down to the main pack house which was a few kilometres into the estate.

To my left was a big lake, just like the one at Moon Shine, this felt right I almost felt like I belonged here. The smell of cinnamon scrolls got stronger and I was captivated by it. Joel smacked my arm “wake up dreamy, we are here! Let me do the talking ok?”

We got out of the car and the Omega welcomed us to Black Moon and took Joel’s car keys. We were greeted by 3 men at the door.

Joel looked like he was about to have a fit or something.. He was looking up until he stopped dead in his tracks and said

“Mine”

Umm excuse me what??? Joel’s mate was here.. I saw a gorgeous blonde girl at the top of the staircase making her way quickly down as Joel raced and met her half way! I have never witnessed such emotion to finding their mates. It was beautiful and graceful. Like love at first sight. This was new to me, it just wasn’t like that at Moon shine! When the males found their mates it was almost like a robbery! No passion, just possessiveness and dominance! I couldn’t stop staring at the emotions they both shared. And then Joel yelled “I’ll be back, start without me” Oh please goddess, I really hope that is Charlotte!

The man cleared his throat “little miss, follow me please” little miss? Who is this guy? I followed him down a long hallway which lead to the Lunas office. I walked in and Luna Layla stood up and hugged me.

“Alyra, I’ve been expecting you”
