Love Through Music

Chapter 3

| A few weeks later|

Today I had to go to work and honestly I'm happy whatever gets me out of the house I will go. I'm an hospice volunteer and I love my job. As for my eye it isn't as bad as it was a few weeks ago so I just throw some makeup on and call it a day.

Grabbing my phone and house keys I walk out of my room and down the steps.

"Where you going". My aunts boyfriend peter asked as I held onto the the doorknob.

"Work".I said before rushing out and down the street.

Sitting at the bus stop I put my earphones in listening to the beat I made with instruments given to me by a friend that works at a music shop.

The bus pulled up in front of me and I took out my card swiping it before going to take a seat.

|20 minutes later|

Pulling the string the bus comes to a stop and I stand up taking my earphones out as I stepped off the bus.

Making my way inside the hospital I go and clock in before picking up the list I make my way to the first patients room.

"Knock knock". I say walking in and Mary looks over smiling at me.

"Hey baby". She said as I walked over pulling a seat up next to her bed.

"How you doing". I ask grabbing her hand and rubbing the back of it.

"It's my time sweetheart I done fought to stay here as long as I could". She said and I shook my head.

"Come on Mary don't talk like that". I said looking down.

"Can you sing one of your songs to me". She asked causing me to look up at her.

"I'm not that good". I said shaking me head and she lightly tapped my hand.

"Girl please you're amazing". She said causing me to smile.

"I wanna leave my footprints on the sands of time

Know there was something that and something that I left behind when I leave this world I'll leave no regrets leave something to remember so they won't forget". I started to sing and a smile graced her face.

"I was here, I lived, I loved I was here, I did, I've done everything that I wanted And it was more than I thought it would be I will leave my mark so everyone will know I was here". I continued to sing tearing up.

"I wanna say I lived each day until I died

And know that I meant something in somebody's life

The hearts I have touched will be the proof that I leave That I made a difference and this world will see".I sung trailing off rubbing the back of her hand.

"That's all I've got so far". I said looking up at her.

"Mary". I call out tapping her hand.

"Mary". I call again standing up using my fingers to check for a pulse on her wrist.

I didn't feel one so I tried her neck, and then the top of her foot and still nothing. Pressing the on call button nurses rushed it and I stepped back walking out of the room.

No matter how many times this happens it's still hurts. I go into the break room and pull out my phone dialing Ace's number.

"Speak". He said and I sniffled wiping my face.

"Aye Addisynn you good". He asked and I started crying harder.

"She's gone". I said rubbing my forehead.

"Who baby what's wrong". He asked and I could hear music stop playing in the background.

"My patient". I said trying to calm down.

"Look don't cry she ain't suffering no more". He said and I nodded my head.

"You want me to pick you up after work". He asked and I looked over seeing someone walk in.

"Yes I get off at 6 but I have to go". I said standing up.

"Cool I'll be there". He said before hanging up.

Slipping my phone in my pocket I wipe my face and take a deep breath before walking out and to my next patients room.

|6:00 pm|

Standing outside of the hospital I look around to see if I could find Ace's car. Pulling out  my phone I go to dial his number when a car honks it's horn causing me to look up.

The window rolled down and I see that it was Ace. Smiling I run over and get in the car giving him a hug before putting my seat belt on.

"How you doing". He asked as he drove away from the hospital.

"I'm doing a little better three people died today". I said looking out of the window.

"You want some takeout". He asked looking over at me.

"Sure". I said and the rest of the ride was silent.

|20 minutes later|

Getting out of the car we go inside and I make my way to his room taking my shoes off.

"I'm going to take a shower". I said as he walked into the room.

"Cool I'm ordering Chinese I already know what you want". He said and I nod going into the bathroom.

Cutting on the shower I strip out of my clothes and step in.

After a while of being in I get out and put on one of his big shirts. Walking out of the bathroom I see the food was already here.

"That was fast". I said walking over and taking a seat in the bed.

"Nah you just take a long time". He said as we both laughed.

"Here". He said handing me my box of black bean noodles and spicy Tteokbokki(rice cakes).

Leaning back he plays Ip Man and I look over smiling.

"This is my favorite movie". I said as he smiled back at me.

"I know". He said as he started eating and I did the same.

Once we were done eating and cleaning up we get back in bed and lay down.

"Come here". He said and I moved over laying my head on his chest listening to his heart beat.

"I really appreciate you for being there for me whenever I call". I said and he rubs my arm.

"I'm taking a liking to you so it ain't no problem". He said causing me to smile.

Just by looking at him you wouldn't think he was this sweet guy...
