Goose Turning back around and saying f**k it crossed my mind a thousand times in the short ride over to Emilia and Lyssa's place. I would much rather be back in bed, balls deep in Lyssa, making her make all the sounds I have decided are my favorite sounds to hear over the last month, than answering my dad's call to come over to the house. He didn't even tell me why, only to get my ass over there in twenty minutes, thirty minutes ago. A call I apparently wasn't the only one who got. As I pulled my bike into the driveway, I lined it up with the other half dozen bikes already there. Among them were my dad's, D's, Gears', Finch's, Stone's, and Rooster's bikes. Walking up the path to the porch, the smell of gasoline grew stronger. Just as I made it to the steps that led up to Emilia's part of the house, D walked around the side of the house coming from Lyssa's. Finch was following behind him, not more than a few feet behind. "They are around back." Not saying anything more, the two walked around me and made their way up the stairs, letting themselves into Emilia's part of the house. I watched for a few seconds as the two started opening all the windows, making the smell of gasoline stronger. Turning, I walked around the side of the house, not seeing anyone, but I noticed Lyssa's door was open. Not waiting, I made my way down the stone path, walking in through the door. Sitting in the middle of the room on Lyssa's dining chair was her ex, Ray. Noticing me as I walked through the door, Stone and Rooster made their way outside. Ray tried to stand up but was shoved back into his seat by Gears and my dad, who grabbed him by the shoulders. Neither one of them removed their hand from his shoulder once he was back in his seat. "You can't just hold me here." Gears' grip on Ray tightened, making him wince. "Holding you here wasn't my idea. Believe me, I would much rather you not be breathing. Now tell him your message." Ray glanced back at Gears, fear in his eyes, quickly turning back around. I don't blame the guy. Gears looked pissed. I don't think I have ever seen him so angry in my whole life. Then again, I am guessing Ray was responsible for the gasoline smell upstairs, leaving me to think Ray came here thinking he was going to do something that, if the girls had been home, would have caught both of them off guard while they were sleeping. That something is burning down Gears' little girl's house with her inside. So really, his holding back should be more surprising than how pissed off he looked. "This isn't how…" Gears' grip tightened even more, making Ray gasp, his shoulder dipping slightly from the hold Gears had on it. "I mean, Lyssa needs to back off." I raised an eyebrow at this. "She was pretty well backed off until you showed up in town." "My grandma wouldn't be doing what she's doing if Lyssa hadn't put the idea in her head." Moving, I grabbed one of the other chairs and pulled it over in front of Ray, sitting down. "Your grandma is doing this because you're a d**k bag. Lyssa has been living her life apart from you since she left you at the altar. You want your grandma to stop, then you go to her." He shook his head. "No, you need to make Lyssa convince my grandma to return the money." I shook my head. "And if I don't." Narrowing his eyes, he leaned forward a few inches. I am sure he would have leaned farther forward if Gears and my dad weren't still holding him in place. "If you don't next time, I won't get caught, and the house won't be empty." Scoffing, I leaned forward, closing the distance I knew he wanted to. "And you think any one of us guys would really let you get a second chance? Ray, you are lucky to be still breathing as it is. I mean, do you have any idea whose house you tried to burn down to try and scare my woman?" Swallowing hard, Ray shook his head. I pointed to Gears. "The president to the MC's goddaughter and best friend's little girl. The sister of the MC's vice president. The niece to not just one other member of the MC but three others. Along with being the granddaughter of two other members of the MC. The great-granddaughter of the founder of the MC. Not to mention a cherished woman to a good thousand other MC members, including me. All of whom would happily hunt you and anyone else down if so much as a hair on her head was out of place." "N…n…non…none of you would get away with it." I shrugged. "Like me, every member of the MC would happily go to prison knowing the world was made a better place." Swallowing hard again, he looked around him. "I'm sorry. I didn't know. I won't do it again." Looking at my dad from the corner of my eye, I saw him give a nod of his head. Reaching out, I lightly smacked Ray on the cheek before leaning back in the chair. "Good man." Standing, I put the chair back where I got it. Gears and my dad let Ray stand up, neither one of them letting him go completely. But it allowed me to take his chair as well and tuck it back into its place at the table. When I was done, I stood in front of him in the same spot I had been when I was sitting. Ray looked between the three of us nervously. "You're going to let me go now…right?" I shook my head. "No, Ray, not just yet. You see, you did try to burn this house down, and we need to ensure you've learned your lesson. We also need you to send a message back to your father." "Wh…what message?" My dad leaned in close to him, his voice low and lethal. "The MC runs this town, and neither one of you is welcome here. And whatever Lyssa decides to do is final; neither one of you will mess with my son's old lady again." Ray nodded his understanding, his attention still on my dad. Even as my dad released Ray, taking a step back. I felt a little bad for Ray in that moment because he didn't see the first blow coming from Gears, who had held it together this long.
