Chapter 5: A New Beginning

Xavier POV

I heard a commotion from the hall, and then Alpha Eric came in. He has visited sometimes to make sure she was okay. I couldn’t understand why she tried to commit suicide when the Alpha was so concerned about her. I looked at Elena and saw her shaking and could feel her fear. Why was she afraid of him? “Elena, thank god your alive. I was so worried when you didn’t wake up.” He said, with relief written on his face. “Alpha Xavier, it was lucky you found her in time, especially now she has woken up. If anything had happened to her, I don’t know what I would had done.” I was confused by all this; Elena was shaking with fear and he gave the impression of someone who was relieved. Something about him wasn’t right. My wolf has all this time given me this feeling that he had done something to her, it has fought to get free so it could rip his head off. “Why are you suddenly concerned about her now?” I asked. Trying to figure out what he had done to her “I have always been concerned about her. Well, you can leave now, there is no need for you to stay here any longer. I will look after her until she’s better.” Leave? He thinks I would just leave. “I’m not leaving.” I said with determination in my voice. “Why not? She’s not part of your pack, she’s part of mine.” I could feel he was up to something, my wolf got more agitated this more he tried to get close to her.  “Because she’s my mate.” I claimed and stood in front of Elena’s bed to shield her from him. “WHAT!” Eric roared. “She can’t be your mate, because she’s my mate.” His mate? That couldn’t be right, no one has two mates. “No!” Elena yelled from behind me. “You rejected me, you told me you would never want me for a mate, and then after you rejected me, you tried to rape me. And then you whipped me” He whipped her and tried to rape her! That motherf*cker, I’m going to kill him! I roared after that statement and looked at Eric and I could feel my wolf trying to come out. I had a hard time controlling him.  “You better get out of here before I rip your heart out. She’s coming home with me when she’s better.” I said with a deafening sound. Eric was frozen for a minute, but it was over quick. “You are forgetting something Alpha Xavier, she’s part of my pack, and if I say she can’t leave, she can’t leave. So, if you take her with you, you are declaring war against us.” He said with a smirk. That mother*cker thinks he can prevent me from taking my mate, and that I need his little pathetic pack. “You think I need your pathetic pack as an allied? If that how it’s going to be, then I declare war against you. Because this she wolf is mine. And no one is going to prevent me from taking my mate.” I roared, then I grabbed Eric by the neck and throwed him out of the room. I then turned around to look at Elena to make sure she was okay. She was still shaking but she was not as frightened as before “Baby, I think maybe it’s better if you come back with me today, to my pack doctor. I won’t force you Elena, but please give me a chance for proving to you that I love you.” She looked at me and I could see all the uncertainties in her eyes, but after some time she looked me in the eyes. “I... I, but if you take me, he will declare war against you, and I….” she said with tears in her eyes. “Baby, I’m not afraid of him declaring war against me, I’m the Alpha of the strongest pack, it will be his funeral if he tries something. I promise you Elena, I will never ever, let him touch you again. And if he tries, I will make sure he suffers for it. So, will you come with me and trust me?” “I will come with you and I will give you one chance to make me trust you.” She said with a small smile on her lips. It’s the first time I have ever seen her smile.

Elena’s POV

I have decided to give Xavier one chance and come with him to his pack. But I’m afraid if I’m the reason for a war. Xavier came over to me and gave me a kiss on the cheek. When his lips touched me, I felt a tingling in my body. “How do you feel, baby?” He asked me. “I’m still tired and my back and wrists hurts. But I feel save with you.” I said and smiled to him, he smiled back at me.

The doctor entered. She gave me some cream for my back and my wrists to help reduce the pain and then told me It will have healed in a few days. But I knew my healing time was longer because I had never shifted to my wolf, so I wasn’t fully connected to her yet. I just nodded to her and looked up towards my mate. He looked me in the eyes and worry was starting to show in his eyes. “What is it baby?” He asked unsure. I looked at the doctor and she immediately knew I wanted to talk to him alone, she left the room and I looked at my mate again. “It’s just...” I looked down on my hands and my voice was trembling with shamefulness. “I have never shifted; I don’t know how. I’m such ashamed. Maybe I really am a weakling.” He looked at me shocked and then he smiled sweetly to me. He lay his fingers under my chin and pulled my head up to look at him. “There is nothing to be ashamed of love. You’re not a weakling and when we get back to my pack and you’re feeling better, I will help you to shift.” He then gave me a kiss on the forehead, and again my skin was tingling. “It’s also I don’t know if I will be able to shift, I haven’t felt my wolf besides when she found our mate. What if she’s not there? What if I never get to shift? I’m just so afraid that I will never shift and then I will be of no use for you, and you will reject me, and...” I was interrupted before I could ramble on with all my doubts. “Baby, first of all. I would never reject you for a silly thing like that, if you can’t shift, then that’s how it is. But don’t think you will be useless to me. Just the touch of you calms me. And second, I’m sure you can shift because you still have your wolf. Just that you can feel the mate bond is proof she’s there, we just have to help her come out. So, get that stupid idea out of your head that I would reject you. I have regretted rejecting you the first time ever since I did it. And I will never ever do it again. Got it.” He looked me in the eyes and all I could see was determination, I knew what he said was true, but I just has so many insecurities inside my head. But I decided I would trust him, so I gave him a small nod and he smiled at me. “Good, now get some sleep, so we can leave this pack and go home.” Again, I nodded and closed my eyes to get some sleep.

I felt some one stroking my head and felt so safe. “Baby wake up. It’s time to go.” I opened my eyes and saw Xavier sitting on my bedside stroking my hair. “I’m sorry to wake you love, but it’s time to go.” He said and smiled at me. I tried to get up, but I could feel the pain in my body. “I don’t think I can get up and walk. My body still hurts” I whispered with a guilty look in my eyes. “It’s okay love, I’ll help you and if you can’t walk, I’ll carry you.” He then came over help me sit op in bed and then picked me up bridal style. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and I felt my body tingle from his touch. I lay my head against his chest and inhaled his scent. He smelled like vanilla and coffee. When he took a step towards the door, the door suddenly slammed open and four of the Bloody Moon packs warriors went through. “We were ordered from the alpha to stop Ms. Cane from leaving this pack and arrest you Alpha Xavier for treason.” Marius the strongest of the four warriors said. They blocked the door and took a defensive stance. Xavier lay me down on the bed and moved in front of my bed, so he stood between me and the warriors. “Oh, you four are going to arrest me and prevent me from leaving with my mate?” Xavier said with an amused smile on his lips, but his eyes were turning black, signaling his wolf was coming out. “You better let me out or I’m going to rip you to pieces.” He roared. The four warriors were shivering in fear and I could see the fright in their eyes, but they kept the stance, if they let us come through, they would be killed by Eric. “Go arrest and chain Alpha Xavier.” Marius ordered, the three others came towards Xavier, but before they could chain him with silver chains, he grabbed the first warrior by the wrists, and a loud snap and agonizing scream could be heard, he had broken his wrists, he then grabbed him around the neck and snapped it. The second warrior, ran towards Xavier but before he got the chains around him, Xavier caught him by the throat and ripped his head of his body. The third warrior hesitated before he launched at Xavier and tried chain him, but Xavier caught him by the neck and snapped it. Marius was shivering in fear by the door and was looking down at his colleagues on the floor and all the blood. Xavier walked slowly towards Marius but before he got him, Marius ran out of the room. Xavier stood at the door and didn’t move. “Xavier?” I asked. I could feel the aura subside and he turned to towards me. “Are you okay, Xavier?” “Yeah love, now let’s get out of here before he sends more.” He then lifted me up in a bridal style and walked through the door and towards his car were Alexander waited. He sat down in the back seat with me on his lap, then we started to drive towards his territory.
