Chapter 4: Taking Back A Rejection

Xaviers POV

I was sitting by the table with all the other alphas, waiting for the Bloody Moon Packs alpha walking on stage. I didn’t really care about who the next alpha of this pack was going to be, but they were our allies, so it was important to be present out of respect. They had been our allies since there Luna were killed and helped us in some rogue problems in the past. I was suddenly hit by a sweet smell, it smelled like vanilla and flowers, my wolf immediately recognized the smell and in my head I could here the words mate, mate, mate… I scanned the hall and by the door, there she stood the most beautiful she wolf I had ever laid eyes on. She was looking pale, but she still looked like an angel. She had long blond hair that reached all the way down to her lower back, light blue eyes that shined like crystals and pink lips. She wore a long red dress with a slit and showed a cleavage. Her smell was intoxicating. But the alpha beside me started to talk about her. “Look, over by the door, I have heard about her, all the pack members call her a wh*re. says she’s always with a new male every night.” “I believe that, the way she’s dressed. I also heard that she killed her own mother, the Luna, out of revenge. And she’s plotting to seduce the new Alpha, to get power.” Were these things true about her? She looks so innocent. But If this were true, she couldn’t be my mate, I couldn’t be mated to a wh*re and a girl who killed her own mother. When the Ceremony had ended, I decided to find her and reject her.

She stood before me and I could feel the sadness from her, I had just rejected her. I released her and walked away. Why did she look so crestfallen if she was plotting to seduce the new Alpha? I couldn’t get her look out of my head. When I got back to the hall, I was greeted by a young woman, probably one of the Bloody Moon packs wh*res. “Hallo, Alpha Xavier. Are you looking for some company?” She asked. I decided to release some stress and took her with me to my room. When the woman left the room after we had s*x, I felt an uneasiness in my chest, I couldn’t quite get why, but I knew it had something to do with my mate. The next day when I was getting ready to leave, I felt this strange feeling again in my chest. I kept thinking about that beautiful girl, I couldn’t get her out of my head. Her light blue eyes, the long blond hair and the pale skin. And then there was that crestfallen look on her face I saw right after I rejected her. Like I had destroyed her. I couldn’t get her out of my mind. But I had to go back to the Silver Moon pack, I told my delta Alexander to be ready to depart in about an hour.

I was sitting in the back of my car when I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my chest, this time I new something was wrong with the woman, my mate. I told Alexander to stop the car and then started to remove my clothes. When the car stopped, I leaped out and immediately shifted into my wolf. I tried to find her by her scent, and smelled the air, I was hit by her scent it was weak and I ran towards it. It became stronger and stronger, the closer I got to her. I ended up by a lake, looking around to find her. Where was she? Then I saw her, she sat by a tree and was much paler than when I saw her yesterday, I ran towards her. When I got to her, she was unconscious, barely breathing, blood was seeping out from cuts on her wrist. I shifted back to my human form and put on a pair of shorts. I ripped my shirt in half and used it to stop the bleedings on her wrist. Then I picked her up and ran towards my car with her in my arms. I was angry, angry at myself for rejecting her, angry at the persons who had driven her to this and most of all angry at her for doing this to herself. Why would she do such a thing? When I got to the car Alexanders eyes widened and asked: “Who’s she? And what happened?”. “She’s my mate and she has tried to commit suicide. Hurry to the Bloody Moon pack doctor.” “Yes alpha.” he said. I sat down in the back seats with her in my arms and swore to myself I would do anything to make my beautiful mate happy. How could I believe all of those things the other Alphas said, she was innocent in all the things they said. I was stupid. She never tried to seduce anyone. She never killed her mother and she never slept with another man. There wasn’t any trace of another man on her. How Could I have been so stupid?

We reached the packs doctor, and I carried her in. “Alpha Xavier?” The doctor greeted with a surprised expression. “She has tried to commit suicide, help her.” I commanded. The doctor told me to lay her in one of the beds and she started to examine her. The doctor asked us to leave the room, I was reluctant, but she said it was necessary. An hour later the doctor told me to come back into the room. “She’s very weak and is in a coma, I don’t know if she ever wakes up from it. She has been badly abused and tortured. She has been punched in the face multiple times, and has blue marks on her stomach, from someone kicking her. One of her fingers is broken. She has wounds and scars on her back from multiple whippings. And on her chest, she’s scarred by the scars of betrayal. Then of course there is the wounds on her wrists.” The doctor said with worry written on her face.

The Scars of betrayal…. I knew I was the reason for those scars, and I could feel my wolfs anger. How could I have let this happen to her? But all the other scars and bruises. She has been abused, but by who? And why were they saying all of those things about her, when she was the one being abused?

Eric POV

It was a week after my appointment as Alpha. I was laying in my room with Marian besides me and I could feel my wolf getting weaker. Why was I getting weaker? I had all the power of an alpha, and yet I was becoming weaker by the days. I had to find out why, I got up from bed without waking up Marian and got dressed, then I went down to the living room where my father was sitting. “Dad?” I asked carefully. “What is it son?” He said with a scowl. “I have to ask you something. Lately I have felled this weird feeling like I am becoming weaker and I can’t understand why.” His head shot up when he heard that and was keen to know why to. “The only reason for you to getting weaker is if your mate has rejected you or has found someone else. And since your mate is here with you, that can’t be the reason.” He said indifferently. I looked down to the ground, ashamed of what I had to tell him. “Marian isn’t my mate. I rejected my real mate a year ago when she just had turned 17. Marian is just the girl I have chosen to be my mate.” I said with fright of how my father would react to the sudden confession. “What! Then who’s your real mate?” He asked with a commanding voice. “My real mate is Elena. I found out the day she turned 17, and I saw her unfit to be the packs next Luna.” “Son, I understand your reasoning, but when you rejected her you were over 18 and she was under, that means you won’t get a new chance of finding a mate, but she will. You will get weaker until you have marked your mate, especially if she finds a new mate. And if the chance is that she’s marked by the new mate, you will become weak and sick and unfit to be the alpha of this pack. You will have to mark her soon and make her your mate again.” He said with determination. “But father, won’t the bond she was feeling be gone?” I asked unsure of what to do. “Of course, so you will just have to mark her even if she doesn’t want to. And if she has found a new mate you will just have to separate them from each other and then mark her. When you have marked her, the new mate can’t do a thing.” He said with a cruel smile on his lips and continued. “That’s how I got my Luna. I rejected her because she was an ugly duckling, but when I felt weaker, I knew I had to find her and mark her. When I found her, she had found a new mate, but was luckily not marked by him, but she was pregnant with him. I kidnapped her and marked her, and I adopted her daughter. So, it’s quite funny that her daughter would become your mate. Now son, you must go out and find her and then mark her. And if you come back without her, you will have to be punished.” I was frozen with horror, my own father had forced a girl to be his mate and now he wanted me to the same, and if I didn’t, he would punish me. I knew it was unwise to not do as he said, his punishments were cruel. I had witnessed what he had done to Elena all these years. And I didn’t want the same treatment. I had to find Elena and make her my mate again. I shifted into my wolf and ran towards the hospital, where I knew Elena were brought in the day after my appointment as Alpha.

I entered Elenas hospital room and I saw alpha Xavier sitting by her side. Why was he sitting there? He looked at me and I nodded towards him. “Alpha Xavier, what are you doing here?” I asked politely. He scowled at me, but then looked me in the eyes. “I’m the one who brought her in. I found her by the lake in the woods at the borders of your territory, where she had tried to commit suicide.” He said, still looking in my eyes, observing my reactions carefully. “She what!” I was shocked, she had tried to commit suicide. I didn’t think she would ever do that. “I’m relieved you found her alpha Xavier.” I nodded towards him, I had to made him believe I’m genuine worried about her. I then turned around to the doctor. “Is she going to be okay.” I asked, making sure I sounded worried, so as not to let alpha Xavier know my true motives. The doctor looked at me with worry and then she said. “I don’t know alpha, she’s in a coma and I don’t know if she will ever wake up.” What! She was in a coma, if she never wakes up, I was doomed. Everything was going to be taking away from me. If she didn’t wake up my father would punish me, and I would be removed as Alpha. She had to wake up and when she did, I was going to make her mine.

Elena POV

The room was dark, I could hear voices in the distance but when I tried to open my eyes they were heavy.

Please tell me I’m dead

I finely found the strength to open my eyes, and when I looked to my right Alpha Xavier Silver was sitting there, with his hand around mine.

“Baby, your awake. Thank the moon goddess.” Xavier said he tried to hug me, but I backed away. “Baby, I’m sorry for rejecting you. I heard all those thinks about you and believed it, but when I felt your pain and found you on the brink of dead, I knew I had made a mistake. Please forgive me.” Forgive him. How could he ask me to forgive him? He betrayed me, he was my last hope and he betrayed me, how could I ever trust him again. I could feel all the anger inside me, and I snapped. “Forgive you? You rejected me.  I thought that when I finely found my new mate, he would accept me and save me from all that torture. But you rejected me and then you had s*x with another woman, that gave me these scars on my chest.” I pointed to my chest. “How can you think I would forgive you for rejecting me?” I said with tears in my eyes. “Your right, but I will earn your trust back, from now on I will protect you, and if anyone tries to do something to you again, I will rip them to pieces.” He declared. I could see the determination in his eyes. He really looked like he regretted it, but I couldn’t blindly trust him after everything that had happened to me. How could I ever trust anyone again? The Doctor entered the room “Miss Cane, how are you feeling?” She asked. I was scared, why did she speak to me this gentle, when I asked for her help years ago, she laughed at me and told me I was deserving the torture. No, she was trying to trick me somehow. She took a step towards me, but when she saw me backing up against the cupboard, she stopped. “Elena, I’m not going to hurt you, I just want to check, if you are alright. Please trust me.” “Trust you? You told me I deserved the torture they were putting me trough.” I growled; the tears were streaming down my cheek. “You what?” Xavier roared, his eyes turned Black and I could feel the immense of power he had, being released. The doctor started to Shake. “I was forced to, by the old Alpha he said if anyone tried to protect her, they would be kicked out of the pack.” She stammered.  We heard a commotion from the hall. The door opened and Eric stepped in.

I started shaking, why was he here? What did he want? “Elena, thank god your alive. I was so worried when you didn’t wake up.” He said, with relief written on his face. Why would he be relieved, he rejected me, and tried to rape me and then tortured me. My body was shaking, and fear was in my eyes. “Alpha Xavier, it was lucky you found her in time, especially now when she’s awake. If anything had happened to her, I don’t know what I would had done.” “Why are you suddenly concerned about her now?” Xavier asked. “I have always bean concerned about her. Well, you can leave now, there is no need for you to stay here any longer. I will look after her until she’s better.” Eric smiled at me and gave Xavier an innocent smile. “I’m not leaving.” Xavier said matter of factly. “Why not? She’s not part of your pack, she’s part of mine.” “Because she’s my mate.” Xavier claimed and stood in front of my bed as a shield. “WHAT!” Eric roared. “She can’t be your mate, because she’s my mate.” Eric took one step closer.  “No!” I yelled. “You rejected me, you told me you would never want me for a mate, and then after you rejected me, you tried to rape me. And then you whipped me.” Xavier roared after that statement he looked at Eric and his power were seeping out. “You better get out of here before I rip your heart out. She’s coming home with me when she’s better.” He said with a deadening sound. Even Eric was frozen for a minute, but it was over quick. “You are forgetting something Alpha Xavier, she’s part of my pack, and if I say she can’t leave, she can’t leave. So, if you take her with you, you are declaring war against us.” He said with a smirk. “You think I need your pathetic pack as an allied? If that how it’s going to be, then I declare war against you. Because this she wolf is mine. And no one is going to prevent me from taking my mate.” He roared, then he grabbed Eric by the neck and throw him out of the room. He then turned around to look at me. “Baby, I think maybe it’s better if you come back with me today, to my pack doctor. I won’t force you Elena, but please give me a chance for proving to you that I love you.” I looked at him and could see the uncertainty in his eyes. Should I give him another chance? He did reject me, but he had never hurt me any other way. But what if he betrayed me again? I was unsure.
