His Surprise Daughter

August 18, 2013 Only I know the truth. They consider her a mistake but to me she is everything. I wake up early in the morning to my alarm going off.Today is my first day at Rice University and I don’t want to be late. On my way out the door I smell bacon and I rush to the bathroom. As I’m throwing up I feel someone’s hand rubbing my back. “Sweetheart this has been going on for way to long. You have been throwing up for the past week. When you get home from campus later today I will take you to the doctors. When I no longer feel nauseous I get up from the bathroom floor and brush my teeth again. Once I’m refreshed and feeling better I head to campus. While I am walking around campus I start to think about my future. The plan is to become a pediatrician and graduate early. I’m going to school on a full academic scholarship. I am what some people would call a nerd. I graduated with Summa c*m laude and I plan to graduate with honors in college. After spending all day at campus it’s finally time to head home. “ Mom I’m home.” “ I would ask you how your first day went but I called the doctor and he is expecting us so we need to leave right now.” On the way to the doctors appointment mom and I talk about how how my first day of college went. I tell her all about me getting lost and me showing up to my lecture late. My mom is really like my best friend whenever I need to talk or just let all of my emotions out I go to her. My mom really is my world and I tell her all most everything. I’m the first daughter my mom and dad have together so our bond is supper strong. I have two older brothers, one younger sister, and a little brother. When we get to the doctors office I give my name to the receptionist. Ten minutes later my name is called and we head to the back. Before we get into an examination room the nurse takes my weight. I notice while my weight is getting taken that I have put on some extra pounds. The nurse puts us in an examination room and says the doctor will be in with us shortly. While my mom and I sit in the room waiting for the doctor to come in, we start talking about a GIF that my brother sent everyone in the group chat. I was about to send my own GIF when a knock came from the door. “ Hi Isabelle, your mom called me and she tells me your having stomach problems. Is there anything else that has been going on?” “ Umm I’ve been having headaches and yesterday I felt a little dizzy.” “ Okay and when did you have your last cycle?” “ Maybe two months ago but that’s not unusual for me. My cycle is very irregular and sometimes I can go months before I start my next period.” “ Alright I need a urine sample from you. So here is the cup and the bathroom is down the hall.” I go to the bathroom and urinate in the cup. I wipe the cup off and cover it up with a paper towel and wash my hands. As I head back to the room reality hits me. I know why I’m sick I’m just to scared to admit it. “ I will get this back to the lab so we can maybe figure out what’s going on with you.” When the doctor leaves I start scrolling through i********: while my mom scrolls through f*******:. I’m getting bored so I decide to play a game if Sudoku on my phone. I’m about to finish up my game when there is a knock on the door and in walks Dr.Lawson. “ Congratulations Isabelle your pregnant.” Pregnant is the word that I knew he was going to say. I was just to afraid to admit it to myself. But now that my doctor said it out loud I immediately feel myself become numb. “ Oh no doctor there has got to be a mistake. You see my daughter is a good Christian girl and she’s still a virgin. I mean she would have told me if she lost her virginity.” “ No mama I’m not still a virgin.” “ So from your reactions I can tell this is unexpected news. I want you to..” Dr. Lawson is still talking but I no longer can focus on what he is saying. All I can think about is my summer with him. The door closing brought me out of my thoughts. The car ride home is silent. There is no music playing and no small talk. When we get home I see my dads car parked out front and I suddenly feel myself beginning to panic. We walk in the house and my mom says “ Daniel we need to talk. Leslie and Derek go to your rooms.” When Derek and Leslie disappear and they are no longer in hearing distance my dad asks “ what’s wrong.” “ Tell him Isabelle.” “ I’m pregnant.”I whisper “ Sweetheart I can’t hear you.” “ I’m pregnant.” I say a little louder “ I think I heard you wrong because it sounded like you said your pregnant but I know my daughter. She is a smart Christian girl who wouldn’t make such a huge mistake.” “ She is definitely pregnant. The doctor confirmed it today at her appointment.” “ Well is there still time for her to terminate it?” “ I’m not terminating my pregnancy.” I whisper “ Oh yes you are and if you don’t get ride of this problem then you can pack all your stuff and leave.” “ Daniel just calm down.” “ No I will not calm down. Now Isabelle make your decision.” “ Daniel!” “ Damnit Sonia she either terminates it or she leaves end of discussion. Our family will not be tainted because of her stupid mistake. I have worked way to hard as a lawyer to build this family up. I will soon be running for mayor and I don’t need her problem screwing It up. Now Isabelle I’m not going to say it again. What do you chose?” “ I’ll go pack.” I run up to my room and start packing everything up. I get all the money I have saved from babysitting and from my allowance all into my book bag. As I am packing I hear someone crying behind me. I turn around to see my little sister and brother with tears running down their faces.I give each of them a hug then I head downstairs. I was able to stuff my clothes into two suitcases and everything else into a duffle bag. As I’m walking out the door my dad says “leave your phone. I pay for that so it will stay here. Plus I have instructed all of the family to never contact you.” I don’t want any trouble so I just place the phone on the table and walk out of the place that I once called home. I bought a room at hotel for tonight. I use my laptop to email campus housing asking if there was anything available. The next morning I receive an email from housing that says there is two bedroom apartment available on campus. I will be sharing it with a girl who already lives there. I immediately email them back saying that I will take the offer. I pack everything up that I brought into the hotel room and head to start my new life.
