The creature tip toed to the bookshelf and squatted down then heard me stirring and glanced my way. He was wearing cowboy boots stained jeans, thick work gloves and a black mask that seemed quite useless. It only covered the front part of his face and it only had one very large ,rectangular eyehole.
The man in the mask sat at the foot of the bed that I was using. He said something but the sound was muffled and I didn't catch it.
I contemplated running but he was definitely faster than me so I held my ground.
He realized the mask was still on face and lifted it up, it was a welding helmet. Maybe I was as dumb as Zedo thought I was. Zedo. What happened to Zedo? Did Welding Guy save him too?
Welding Guy his mask was up and I recognized his features. Brown curls, button nose, full lips, and russet brown eyes. This was the restaurant guy! He was the one who gave me the cursed cowboy hat.
“How do you feel?” he repeated.
“Like I fell in a river in a cop car and almost died.” I think that about summed it up.
He laughed way too hard at that then stuck out his hand, “I don't think we've been properly introduced. I'm Ace, Ace Cazador.”
I limply offered him my hand and he raised an eyebrow. “That is not how you shake hands.”
I shrugged and folded my arms
“You have a lot of explaining to do.”
He smiled
“so you hold your fingers like..”
“Not about a handshake.” I interrupted this guy was really getting on my nerves. He stared at me straight faced but a smile tugged at the corner of his eyes.
“I'm joking, I'm joking.”
His whole face contorted into a wide grin and he fell onto the floor in a flurry of giggles. When he finally reappeared his smile was gone and he was holding the dreaded cowboy hat.
