Chapter 2

1046 Words
“Julia, you need to calm down,” her mother Elaine said, holding her arms gently. Martha stood in the corner, tears streaming down her face, her hands shaking. “You’re lucky you’re my sister! I would have killed you with my bare hands!” Julia yelled at Martha. “Julia, I know how hurt you are. You don’t deserve all this,” Mr. Harrison, Julia’s father, said, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. His voice was thick with emotion, reflecting the pain he felt seeing his daughter suffer so deeply. Julia’s eyes filled with tears as she leaned against her father's chest. “I love him, Dad. I didn’t cheat.” “I know, I know. I believe you,” her father said, his voice full of sorrow. He could see the anguish in Julia’s eyes and felt a deep sense of helplessness. Klaus had shattered her trust, and it pained him to see his daughter in such a state. Elaine joined the embrace, wrapping her arms around Julia and offering her silent support. Her heart ached for her daughter, and she felt a profound sense of sadness over how Klaus had betrayed Julia’s trust. Martha stood by, silent and remorseful, knowing she had been part of the betrayal but unsure how to make things right. Julia and Martha were raised with modesty despite their family's wealth. Julia was always kind and supportive, especially to Klaus during his business troubles. Julia pulled back slightly from the embrace, her eyes red and swollen from crying. She glanced at Martha with a mix of anger and disappointment. “I can’t stay here. I need to leave. I want to leave the country, Dad.” Mr. Harrison’s face showed concern and understanding. “Are you sure, Julia? Leaving might help you escape the pain, but it won’t erase it. You need to think this through.” “I can’t stay here. I can’t be around him, around this place that’s full of memories of what was supposed to be a happy life,” Julia said, her voice trembling but firm. “I need to go somewhere new, where I can start over and heal.” Her mother nodded, tears in her eyes. “We’ll support you, Julia. If this is what you need, then we’ll help you. Just promise us you’ll take care of yourself.” Julia managed a weak smile, grateful for her parents’ support but still overwhelmed by the heartbreak. “I promise.” Martha, feeling the weight of her actions, tried to apologize. “Julia, I’m so sorry. I never meant for any of this to happen. I—” “Save it,” Julia interrupted, her voice cold. “I can’t listen to any more excuses right now.” Julia thanked her parents and went to her room. She decided not to tell them about the baby because she didn’t want Martha to mention it to Klaus or her parents to try to get her to stay for the baby’s sake. ************ Klaus had been at his friend's house all along, but he was pestered to leave and go find his wife. "You're making a big mistake, Klaus. You should go meet your wife. Julia loves you." Habeeb said in his indian-American accent. Klaus shrugged. He knew his wife wouldn't cheat. But he couldn't help it. She was too good to be true. He had doubted her and believed everything he saw. Habeeb was right, so he rushed home while he unblocked Julia so she would be able to reach him. He knew Julia would have called him severally, waiting on him to beg for his mercy and change his mind. On getting home, he felt his heart beating very fast. No way Julia had left. "Julia!" He called, but no one answered. He scurried up the stairs and checked his room. No Julia. He checked the other room, too. No Julia. His chest began to hurt. What had he done? The room was empty, but his eyes darted on a white paper on the bed. His hands shook as he took the letter to read. 'My dearest ex-husband. I couldn't sleep last night because I know that it's over between us. I hope that one day you'll realize how much I loved you and how much you hurt me. I deserve someone who would trust and love me just as my father loves my mother. Don't try to find me. Don't try to contact me. Have a great life.' Klaus sat on the bed, staring blankly at the paper in his hands. The words blurred together as tears welled up in his eyes. He felt like he'd been punched in the gut, unable to breathe. He thought back to their time together, remembering the laughter, the adventures, and the quiet moments. He had taken Julia for granted. Julia was there for him through everything and he realized she didn't deserve any of this. He folded the paper and staggered out of the room, the house wasn't the same without Julia. Klaus went to Julia's parents' house, hoping that they might give him another chance to explain. His heart raced as he drove, praying she would be there. When he got there, Mr. Harrison answered the door. His face was stern and unforgiving. “Klaus, what are you doing here?” “I need to speak with Julia,” Klaus said urgently. “Please, let me explain.” Mr. Harrison shook his head. “Julia has already left. Don't bother looking for her.” Klaus felt a sinking feeling in his chest. He had hoped to find her before it was too late. “Can you tell me where she went?” “No,” Mr. Harrison said firmly. “She’s not coming back, and you need to accept that.” Klaus felt his heart sink. He knew he had messed up badly. He left the house, regretting everything he had done. He didn't know Julia was inside, having asked her father to send him away. She didn't want to see him again. As he drove away, he realized he might have lost Julia forever. The realization hit him hard, and he knew he had to live with the consequences of his mistakes.
