Chapter 3

833 Words
The next morning, Julia packed her things, leaving behind her life with Klaus. Her parents helped her get ready for the journey, their hearts heavy with sadness. At the airport, they hugged her tightly. Martha stayed back, tears in her eyes. “I hope you find a way to forgive me,” Martha said, her voice breaking. Julia looked at her sister for a few seconds and then pulled her into a hug. Her parents weren’t surprised. Julia had always loved and protected her sister. Julia waved goodbye and boarded the plane. She was determined to find a new path and heal from the pain Klaus had caused. As she settled into her seat, doubt crept in. Was she making a mistake by leaving? She wasn’t sure, but it felt like the right choice for now. As the plane soared through the skies, Julia looked out the window, feeling anxious. She was not ready for this new chapter, but she was determined to push through. After a few hours, Julia arrived in France. She took another plane to Paris, where she planned to stay with her best friend, Louisa. It was a new beginning, and she hoped it would bring the peace and healing she desperately needed. Julia landed in Paris and was relieved to see Louisa waiting for her at the airport. Louisa greeted her with a big hug. “I’m so glad you’re here,” Louisa said, her smile warm. “Let’s get you settled.” They drove to Louisa’s apartment, a cozy place in a lovely part of the city. Julia felt a bit of comfort being with her friend, even though her heart was still heavy. As they unpacked, Louisa chatted excitedly about Paris. “We have so much to do—museums, cafes, and just walking around. It’ll be good for you to see new things. Klaus would definitely regret what he did to you. You're going to move on and-" "Take care of my baby." Julia cut her off, taking her eyes off Louisa. "You're pregnant?" Louisa asked. Julia hesitated, then said, "Yes." Louisa’s eyes widened, but she quickly moved to Julia’s side, taking her hand. “Oh my gosh, Julia. That’s… a lot to deal with.” Julia nodded, tears welling up. “I didn’t want to tell anyone, especially not my parents or Klaus. I was afraid they’d try to convince me to stay because of the baby.” Louisa squeezed her hand gently. “You’re so strong for making this decision on your own. But you’re not alone now. We’ll figure this out together.” Julia nodded, taking a deep breath. “It’s just hard to let go and start over. I’m trying, but it’s tough.” Louisa put a comforting hand on Julia’s shoulder. “One step at a time. You’re strong, and you’ll get through this. Paris is a new beginning, and sometimes that’s exactly what we need.” Julia managed a small smile and hugged her best friend, grateful for her support. ************* Klaus' parents had heard about everything that happened and called him over to explain himself. "How could you do this, Klaus?" His mother demanded, her face red with anger. "You’ve ruined everything." Mr. Beaufort shook his head, disbelief written all over his face. "You need to fix this. Julia was good to you. You need to bring her back. You need to make things right." Klaus’s older brother, Bryan, was also furious. "You’ve messed up, Klaus. I can’t believe you thought this was the right way to handle things." “I’m sorry, mom, dad,” Klaus pleaded, his voice cracking. “I didn’t mean for things to end like this. I didn’t think she’d actually sign the divorce papers.” Mrs. Beaufort's eyes softened momentarily, but she remained firm. “You don’t understand what you’ve done, Klaus. Julia trusted you. She loved you. And now she’s gone. You pushed her away with your actions, and it’s too late to fix it now.” Klaus's dad crossed his arms, shaking his head. “I'm disappointed in you, son.” Mark, who had been silent for most of the conversation, spoke up. “You really messed up, bro.” Klaus had never felt this way before in his life. He realized that he loved Julia and would never let her go in heart. His parents were so angry that they almost disowned him. Julia was a woman they really loved and saw as their daughter. Everyone loved Julia. She was kind, loving, and affectionate. He regretted hurting her so much and wished he could see her again to tell her the truth. He hadn’t really cheated with Martha; he had tried to make Julia jealous, thinking it would bring her closer. But Julia’s love was real, and her leaving made him see how wrong he was. That night, he drank himself to a stupor. His brothers helped him get into bed as he repeatedly called Julia's name in his sleep.
