When I opened my eyes, I was lying on the bed in my apartment. Daniel and I bought this place after two months of my exile. First month, we lived on the forest near the borders of . That life came to an ending when the police found us and took us. After some protocols and documents, we were enrolled in school. Then we took some part time jobs, so we could afford an apartment. It wasn't the best, but we were used to stones so this wasn't that bad after all. Now this was our seven apartment, I think. But wait, didn't the mortal just carried me and jumped out of the rooftop? How did I end up on my bed? Wasn't I stabbed in the heart? I remembered blinding pain in my chest. I sat up so fast, resulting a spinning head for a few seconds. I touched my chest and looked down, only to find out there wasn't any wound at all. There was a little scar where the blade went in, but aside from that, I was just as good as I was in the morning. Wait. It has to be the same day, right? What if I was in a coma for so many years? That would explain the scar. I could hear voices coming from the hallway. I listened. I could recognize Daniel and two others unknown. "-is fine," Daniel was saying. "I don't understand either. I'll talk to her. If there's anything, I'll let you guys know immediately." "Then we will get going." Someone said. "But I want to stay and find out how she did it!" Someone else whined. Who are these people? It sounded like they were talking about me, so I stood up and walked to the front door. By the time I got there, only Daniel remained, other two nowhere to be seen. "Who was that?" I asked. Daniel turned around fast and looked at me like he is seeing a ghost. He looked at me from top to bottom, scanning me carefully. "Soldiers from Rawen." He replied, sighing. "They came after you send out the distress signal." He started to pace. "Just, tell me what happened for you to send out the signal and disappear in to the thin air, and wind up in your bed." He stopped pacing and came to a stop before me. "When I saw that signal, I was scared out of my life, Nasha." He grabbed me by the shoulders. "I ran to the rooftop, but the door was locked. I opened it, there was no sign of anyone. Only some traces of magic were left." He let me go and ran a hand through his hair. "Please tell me what happened. And it better be a good reason, your highness." I sighed. Daniel calling me by my title meant this was serious business. But it wasn't any of my fault now, was it? I silently thank the gods for it being the same day. Imagine if I lost years of my life without knowing. "I was stabbed." I said. He took a step back, face turning pale. "How- what- but there wasn't any blood." He paused. "No. There was. Oh my god." I looked at him. "How could you miss that much of blood?" He looked at me. "There were some drops, Nasha. You were kidding, right? I mean, you don't even have a wound." "Let me finish. I went to the rooftop, like you said. Then, three girls shows up, and I may have wanted to play them with a little bit. I swear, there was no murderous aura in any of them. I recognized Penelope from our class. Then, one of her friends stabbed be in heart because, she was in love with you and was worried that I was stealing you from her." I stopped to catch my breath. "Then they left me there to die. I couldn't even summon the magic to stop the bleeding. So I sent out the signal, but someone else came in and carried me away. Then I woke up here." Daniel sat up on one of the chairs. I waited while he processed the information, looking at me from time to time. "You do realise that this story has so much things that doesn't add up, right?" He finally asked. "I didn't mean that I don't trust you. But someone stab you and you didn't sense any killing intent. You bled but you don't have a wound. It could be an illusion spell." "Well, if it was, it would not explain how I send the signal on rooftop and ended up in my room. Or the healed scar on my chest." I said. "You have a scar on your chest?" Daniel looked horrified. "God, the king is going to kill me. Can I see it?" I looked at him and blinked slowly."I knew it. You want to see me naked. You do know that it's a crime to see the princess of Rawen without being the chosen one." He blushed, searching for words. "I- No! I meant- That's not what I meant!" I laughed at him. "I was joking, Surren." He frowned and threw a dirty look in my direction. "Don't go around calling me by that. I knew you were joking." I nodded. "The point is, whatever happened there was real. I think we are missing something here. I do think it was so odd for someone to stab me for a misunderstanding, but then again, she could be a yandere." "Yandere? You read too much comics." "Well, I had to use my spare time to do something. It's not like I am an elf princess who can actually serve the country. I am just an elf princess who read comic books, manga and novels." "It has only being eight years, Nasha. Wait, the person who carried you. Was he an elf? He could have been manipulating the human girl." "No, that was a mortal." I said. "His ears aren't pointy." Maybe he wasn't mortal and I am wrong. He jumped from the building with me, after all. "Well, I still think we should investigate this before switching schools again." Daniel sighed. "Yeah. And I want to teach that b***h Penelope a lesson too." Daniel looked at me. "If you decide to use magic, please tell me so I can cover up your tracks before Nave's soldiers can. They are pain in the ass." I let out a small laugh. "Nobody messes with me like that, dude. Even Nave doesn't dared to do anything to my face. That girl f*****g stabbed me." "Yeah. Just be careful." I nodded. I kind of agreed with him. If I hadn't played with them for a while I wouldn't be in this situation. I was too confident and let's say... a little arrogant. I sat down on the chair beside him. "So, give me the homework." "The what?" He looked at me. "Homework. We are going to school tomorrow, right?" "Uh, well, I kind of skipped the last periods, so... I'll contact Eric." I gave him a thumbs up and retreated to my room. At night, I woke up with a start. I was seeing my usual bloody dream, but something woke me up. Or someone. A shiver ran down my spine. I could sense someone watching me from the shadows. Their aura felt powerful yet familier. I grabbed the dagger under my pillow and took a deep breath, sharpening my focus. The wind blew outside. The street lights were flickering, making it harder to see. One moment, there was nothing outside my window. The next moment something floated down to my floor. A piece of paper. I bent down, slightly and poked it from the dagger, picking it up. There was a massage. Feeling better? I stared at it. He had just opened my window and had thrown that piece of paper and had closed it again, all within a second. Even my heightened elf senses couldn't pick him up. Had he wanted to kill me, I would not even had the chance to defend myself, nor move a single muscle. I slowly sat on the bed again. The sensation of someone watching me was gone, and street lights were back to normal. Everything was perfectly fine just like it was before. I closed my eyes. It seems that the mortal from my dream is not a mortal after all.
