Chapter 1
Linda woke up feeling a little bit anxious and excited. Today is finally the day she has been waiting for all her life, he is going to propose today being her birthday so she needs to look extremely gorgeous on this dinner date.
She has received a call from her boyfriend asking her to meet him at the address he has texted her, she felt there was no need to text her about the address since it was the love garden, they always meet at to celebrate her birthday.
She has dated him for more than five years and every single day with him was like a brand-new day, she was never going to feel bored with a person like him, just as she always says, he was her first and would be her last and forever.
Linda is a 26 years old lady who has dated Clinton her boyfriend for the past five years. She is so beautiful, intelligent, hardworking, and a very sweet spirit young lady whose number one dream has always been to marry her college sweetheart.
She got up from her bed and said her favorite morning inspirational quote which she always listens to just to set each of her day right.
She hurriedly made her way into the bathroom to freshen up. Linda has taken a day off from work as regards her birthday and special date with Clinton who had called three days back to book a date with her.
He has promised to propose to her after five years and that happened to be today which makes it more special. She walked out of the bathroom and walked over to her closet and glanced through each dress in her wardrobe checking them out on the mirror, she shook her head and tossed them on the bed, and groaned when she couldn’t find anything that looked good.
“Does this mean I have no good dress?” She winced and walked over to her desk as she opened up her bag for some cash and there it was, she smiled and clicked her tongue, she still has time to go get a dress, a black dress she had always thought of in her imagination would look good for tonight.
She put on a white top and blue jeans and her white sneakers, brushing her hair backward, she turned to leave the apartment with her bag in her hand but her phone rang and she fetched it out of her bag, the name that flashed through her screen seems to make her expression darken, it was none other than her male best friend, she shouldn’t feel this way, but his calls most time makes her frown.
“Hey, Jonas.” She called out as she placed the phone on her ear walking out of the apartment.
“Hey, where are you? I heard you took a day off work.” Jonas who was at the advertising company he works at together with Linda asked her as he stepped out from the office to the lobby.
“Shouldn’t you be wishing me a happy birthday first?” She asked with a frown as she boarded a taxi. ”Take me to 21 dalee street.” She whispers to the taxi driver as she continued with her phone conversation.
“I sent you a message, didn’t you see it?” He asked a little bit offended that she didn’t even bother to check her WeChat.
“You did?’ Linda glanced down at her phone to see it, he actually sent it at six in the morning, he was always the first to wish her a happy birthday but today she has been so distracted with the thoughts of Clinton to notice this. “I am sorry, I am just seeing it now best friend.” She said with a smile hoping he let it slide.
“I can’t stay angry with you and you know it, but then, tell me why you have to take an off today of all days.” He questioned and Linda glanced out of the car window with a smile as she looked up at the sky with a smile on her face.
“Well, I have a fantastic date to catch today, Jonas,” She grinned and pressed her lips together. “I am meeting with my boyfriend as I told you, he is also going to propose to me Jonas.” She reminded him and Jonas rolled his eyes.
“Don’t you think you are getting your hopes up so high?” Jonas asked her as he leaned on the pillar at the lobby. “Clinton has not call for three days and he only calls once in a while these days so why do you think he is going to propose to you?” His words made Linda frown.
“Hey, Jonas, I trust Clinton to always keep his words, he told me he was going to propose to me and so will he so stop saying those words, also, he doesn’t call much since he has been busy with work and you know, he could perhaps have me on his mind all day and would be setting things up for the proposal.” Linda chuckled softly blushing at the thoughts of that and Jonas exhaled softly, he knew he can’t stop her from having her daydreams, he only knew his lack of communication could be a pull-out but today was his best friend’s birthday so there was no point in ruining it this morning.
“Okay, whatever you say, I wish you the best.” He said softly.
“Thank you.” She smiled and the taxi driver pulled over at the front of a big mall and told Linda they were there. “Umm, Jonas, let’s talk later, I have to go now.” She told him and without waiting for him to respond, she hung up and Jonas glanced down at his phone.
“Aish, she is always in a hurry.” He lets out a sharp breath and turned around when he heard a footstep approaching him.
“Jonas, we are about starting and your presence is needed.” A female staff came to call him over with a smile on her lips and he turned to her.
“Sure, let’s go.” He gestured her and she tucked her hair behind her ear and Jonas smiled to see her coy flirty face, he was loved by a lot of ladies here in the company, but he barely look at them, a lot of them have also confessed their love to him, but still, he just couldn’t accept their feelings, he knew the reason why this happens and can’t blame himself for loving just one person.
Linda stepped out of the taxi after paying as the taxi driver drove off and she turned to the cross road, she has to cross to the other lane to get to the mall, she tucked the loose strand of her hair behind her ear and glanced sideways at the rood and smiled when the traffic light turned red she rushed into the road only to halt when she heard the loud horn from a car which came screeching to stop and the shock made shiver run down her spine as the car stopped right before her.
Her jaw slacked and the color drained out of her face as she stood still trying to catch her breath, was this the way she would have died?
The car door opened and a man in a well-tailored suit stepped out of the driver’s side of the car and rushed over to her with a wide eye and a worried line appeared between his brows as he approached her.
“Hey, are you alright?” He questioned the shocked Linda as he scrutinized her to make sure she wasn’t hit by the car. “Are you alright?” His voice came again and he placed his hand on her shoulder and it seems to snap her out of her daze.
Linda turned to look at the man as she watched his lips move asking if she was okay, but the moment their eyes met, she felt a different emotion sweep over her, her head buzzed and it wasn’t the shock of almost getting run over, but the shock of standing right in front a stunning man who looks like those models who walk into your daydream and turn your life around.
‘He is so handsome’ She mouthed and blinked settling her gaze in his again.
