The young man looked at her face for a while seeing that she was just staring at his face with parted lips, he wonder if she was really alright, although he can see that his car didn’t make contact with her skin and she was not bleeding anywhere, but to make sure since she was in a daze, he cleared his throat and parted his lips to ask again.
“Umm, hey, are you okay?” He asked her again and Linda swallowed hard and quickly blinked as she lets out a sharp breath and her forehead creased immediately.
“Hey!” She shouted as she pushed her loose strand of hair behind her ear and the man looked startled by her yell and stepped back as he fixed his eyes on her. “You almost ran me over, and didn’t you see the traffic light turn red?” She shouted at him as she pointed her hand in the direction of the traffic light and the man followed her fingers before turning his eyes back at her.
“I am sorry, but the person who rushed in front of me was you, so you shouldn’t act like you are right either.” He pressed his lips together and Linda scoffed and juts her chin out.
“Is this a matter of who is right and wrong, I am the victim right here, so…”
“You don’t look like a victim.” He mumbled under his breath as she kept blurting out words.
“You should be asking me if I was alright and not claiming right!” She finished her words with a shout and the young man closed his eyes momentarily before opening them and glancing around to see people staring at them.
“I really did ask if you are alright, you know.” He glanced up at Linda again and she rolled her eyes as she clenched her jaw.
“Sure, you did.” She ran her hand through her hair and turned to walk away but he held her hand making her stop as she turned around to look at him in anger. “What!”
“Umm… I think we should go to the hospital to do some checkup, perhaps you didn’t sustain any injury since the car didn’t make contact with you, but doing a check up for your mental health is important too…”
Linda’s lips parted as she flings his hand off hers. “Are you calling me a lunatic?” She asked in anger wondering why this man was acting like an asshole.
He quickly raised his hand up in demonstration. “No, don’t get me wrong, you were shock right now, so I meant you need to do some…”
“Forget it!” Linda raised her hand up to silence him and he pressed his lips shut. “Just go on your way and stop offending me, you are only lucky I am in a good mood today, I have other things to do than listening to your arrogant words.” She grits her teeth and walked away while the young man stared at her for a while and exhaled softly.
“Why didn’t she get me?” He gently scratched the corner of his hair. “Perhaps a lot have changed in this country, I hope she is alright.” His cellphone rang in his pocket and he took it out as a smile spread through his lips.
He answered the call and went into his car. “Hello, sister.” He said with a huge smile on his lips as he started his car engine seeing that the traffic light has changed.
“I heard you are back, would you come see me first or the later?” A sweet female voice came from the other side of the line.
“I should go home first don’t you think so?” He asked her as he placed his cellphone down and connected the call to the car Bluetooth. “I had a long flight and should shower and take a long rest.”
“Aren’t you just too bad?” The voice came out harsh from the other side of the line. “Do you know how long I have waited for your call, you have been gone for five years and you won’t even come see me first, why do you have to make me hear about your return from mother and father, you aren’t treating your sister fair, you know?”
“I am sorry, I will make up for it since I am back, for a start, what do you want, I will get you whatever you need as a bribe, so tell me what you would love?” He asked with a smile and there was a long silence on the other side of the line.
“You promise me so don’t go back on your words.”
“I won’t, so just say the words and I will make it happen.” He tapped the steering wheel waiting for her response as he made a U-turn.
“Fine then, I want you to get me the latest car model.” She said excitedly from the other side of the line and he paused his lips as his forehead wrinkled.
“Hey, hey! You little brat!” He shunned her and she burst out laughing from the other side of the line and he scoffed but ended up smiling again.
“Just drop by at the hospital let me see your handsome face, I doubt that I can actually recognize my brother, I have a busy schedule at work so I won’t be able to leave for three day, so just come over let me give you a hug, a sister shouldn’t beg for that and you know it, so tell me you are coming.” She waited patiently for a long while for him to say something.
“I can’t even say no when you say it that cutely, send me the address of the hospital you work at and I will be right there.” He told her and ended the call as he groaned softly. “I just hope she doesn’t be so much to bear since I am back.” He chuckled softly and made a U-turn, taking a different direction from his former destination as he heads for the hospital.
Linda pushed the departmental store door open and stepped in, she was still muttering under her breath, that man was handsome, but asking her to go do a mental checkup was just outrageous, he was the one who should do a mental checkup and not her.
She shook her head to push that thoughts off her mind, she replaced them with the thought of meeting the love of her life and getting a proposal, just those thoughts in her mind again brought smiles to her lips as she walked over to the receptionist who looked up at her.
“Welcome, how may we assist you?” The staff asked respectfully and with a smile.
“Today, I am getting a proposal, so I want to look so beautiful, can you make that work out for me?” Linda didn’t hide the smiles in her face as her eyes sparkle and the staff nods.
“Congratulations on your proposal, we have the perfect staffs to perform such magic, so please come with me.” She told Linda who nods in response and exhaled softly before following the staff who led the way towards the massage section to get started.
Nothing matters right now, all her earlier anger was gone, dolling up for her birthday and to meet with Clinton, the love of her life and seeing his sparkling eyes was just so much to make her world shine and her heart feel loved and happy, she was satisfied in this world as long as she has him and her work, nothing else matters and tonight, her dream to be proposed to by him would be fulfilled.
