1793 Words
The flashy black car that almost ran Linda over drove into the hospital parking lot and the man stepped out of the car and leaned close to his car as he lifts his eyes to look at the big hospital building. “It really is big, no wonder she brags about being a doctor.” He smiled and took out his phone as he dialed his sister’s number, she answered at the second ring. “I am at the front of the hospital you work at, so come out.” He told her. “Really?” She asked in excitement. “I am on my way out now.” She called out and ended the call and he looked down at his cellphone and smiled as he glanced at the hospital entrance waiting to see his sister run out of the door. A young lady dressed in blue jean and yellow shirt with a lab coat on rushed out of the hospital, she scanned the area and then her eyes settled on the man leaning on the black car, she squinted and gradually her lips began to turn up. “Donald!” She called out in a loud excited voice and he turned his attention in the direction of the voice to see the young lady run towards him. “Aish, she has not change one bit, she still screams my name like a kid.” He smiled and stood straight as she rushed over. “Racheal, you…” Before he could complete his words, she slides her hand around his waist and embrace him, placing her head on his chest. “It really is you, Donald.” She smiled and cling on him tightly as she inhaled the cologne omitting from his skin. “I really missed you.” She broke into a sob and Donald paused his lips as he glanced around them and noticed some eyes staring, this was the second time people were staring at him in a day. “Umm, are you crying?” He asked her and she started sobbing more. “Aish, come on, stop it, you are acting like you are my girlfriend.” He told her and tried to pull her off but she pulled closer. “Come on, people are watching.” He told her “It’s because I missed you, you are really mean to me and who cares if others are watching, where is it written that a sister can’t embrace her brother, more especially one she has not seen for a long time.” She closed her eyes. Donald smiled and lift his hand to embrace her but stopped as he sniffed the air and his forehead creased. “Umm, when last did you wash your hair?” He asked her and she quickly pulled away and touched her hair as she smelled her hand and covered her nose. “it does smell awful don’t it?” She put on a weird expression. “I haven’t washed it for a week now.” She pressed her lips together and looked up at her brother whose nostrils wrinkled in disgust. “Since when did you become so dirty?’ He crossed his hand above his chest and tilt his head to give her a nasty look. “That’s what comes with being so busy with surgery and attending to patients…” “Don’t use that as an excuse!” He shunned her. “For all I know, doctors should be clean all the time, they are treating patients and also tell patients to maintain cleanliness,” He raised his hand and touched his chin slowly. “Don’t tell me you are a quack.” “Don’t say that, I am not!” Racheal said in an angry loud voice. “How can you say that, do you know how many lives I have saved just by being a doctor? You have no clue, so don’t be so rude!” She pouts her lips as her forehead creased. “Well, I can’t be so sure since I have been away for such a long time, I don’t even recognize the lady in front of me…” “What?” She blinked as she glanced down at herself. “How is that possible?” She asked. “I didn’t change that much, so how can you not even recognize me?” She looked up at him and noticed the smile on his lips. “That was only a figure of speech…” “There is no figure of speech like that.” She interrupted him and he groaned. “Fine, I recognize you, just that you have gotten a bit taller and uglier.” He made a demonstration with his hand and Racheal blinked profusely. “Uglier?” She scoffed. “I know I have gotten a bit taller, but not uglier, I am sexier and pretty and there is a whole lot of men lined up asking me out, if you don’t know, I am the face of this hospital.” She blurted out and Donald chuckled. “I doubt that, the evidence is right behind you!” He pointed over her shoulder and she turned her eyes to see the large banner that was up at the front of the hospital with a beautiful female doctor’s image on it. “I think that lady in that banner is the face of the hospital and not you, you little liar!” Racheal clenched her jaw and faced Donald. “You are so annoying, even if she is the face of the hospital, I still look prettier than she does, so just accept that fact.” She told him but he shook his head. “I can’t tell a white lie,” He paused his lips and glanced at the banner once more. “She is too beautiful and I actually want to meet her in person, perhaps I can start up something new with her, is she in the hospital right now?” He glanced at his sister who glared at him. “Why the glare?” He asked with a wide eye. “Didn’t you say you have to go home and rest up?” She said in anger. “Just go back home, I have work to do, now that I have seen your I don’t think I will miss you so much to want to see you badly, so go away!” She waved him off. “Wow, how cruel of you,” Donald frowned. “I drove all the way her to see you and you can’t even send me off properly, is that how much of a brat you have become?” He curled his lips up and Racheal scoffed. “You caused it, I am off to get back to work, so goodbye, see you at home when I see you.” She humph and turned around as she headed back to the hospital and Donald scoffed. “Even my sister is also working away from me, really, a lot have changed in this country after five years of being away, why are the ladies so rude?” He shrugged. “I think I should better start avoiding them, or is today just a bad day for me?” He shook his head and got into his car as he drove off. *** Linda walked into a grand restaurant dressed in an off-shoulder blue dinner gown, her hair was curled and tied up exposing her straight face and her sexy neck, light makeup was applied on her face making them dazzle, the lips was glossy with the red lipstick applied on them and her eyes twinkled with the well applied mascara, she was dressed just like an angel and as she stepped into the restaurant a lot of eyes was turned to her and she noticed the parted lips of some men who stared at her in admiration. Linda’s eyes flickered as she scanned the restaurant and a smile spread through her lips as she spots Clinton sitting on the table next to the large window at the right. A piece of classical music played in the background making the place all the more romantic for Linda, she knew Clinton was so good at picking places for date, he was just awesome in everything he does. She walked over to the table and gently sat down and he turned his eyes towards her and paused his lips as he stared at her beautiful face. “I am sorry for coming late, I was busy dolling up just for you.” She said with a smile as she stared into his eyes. “Have you placed an order yet?” She raised the corner of her brows. “Ah, by the way, you picked a good place for my birthday as you always did, this makes me love you all the more.” She grinned but paused her lips when she saw the expression on his face. “Umm, is something wrong?” Linda paused and waited for his response but none came, she sat up again and leaned forward as she scrutinized his face. “You are getting me worried Clinton, is there something wrong? Talk to me.” She swallowed and waited for him to say something. Clinton lowered his gaze and exhaled softly before looking up at Linda again. “I called you out because I have something to say to you Linda.” He pressed his lips together and Linda’s heart skipped a bit as she imagined it to be the proposal, it has to, men always act like this when they are about to confess or propose. “I am listening.” She pressed her lips together to calm her excitement, whatever he says, she has respond with a yes, it was time, it was happening faster that she has thought, but it didn’t change the fact that it was happening, he was going to ask her to be his wife and she would chuckle at her best friends face since Jonas was doubting her words. Clinton paused as he drew a sharp breath and looked her directly in the eye. “Linda, let’s break up.” He spit the words out and Linda blinked as she tried to process his words and when they sank in, she glanced up at him as tears began forming in her eyes gradually. “What?” Her lips moved as the tears rolled down her cheek as she looked at him and it felt her whole world of love was shattering to the ground. “I am breaking up with you, Linda.” Clinton said the words again and the color on Linda’s face gradually drained.
