The alarm clock on Linda’s bedside woke her up as usual as she stretch forth her hand to turn it off still feeling sleepy. She took a long breath as she sat up and stretched her both hands while twisting her neck.
She went about her normal morning routines as she got dress for work. Linda has been appointed to lead her departmental presentation that morning so she had to be at work on time.
Linda stared into her dressing mirror as she tapped her chest twice then spoke to herself gently. “It’s another day to go make the universe proud Linda so you must forget about all of your worries and focus on today’s presentation.” She paused for a while as she shook her head. “Clinton’s chapter in my life is closed and this heart is sealed so you have to direct all of your energy on making your life worth it.”
She moved backwards still looking into the standing mirror as she smiled. “You are beautiful, talented, smart, relentless, strong, confident, bold and a go getter so relax and smile cause you can do this.”
Linda cleared her throat as some thoughts flashed into her head. ‘There’s nothing wrong with me and why do I look so much like someone who is mourning?’ She took out a pink lips stick on her table stand as she applied a little on her lower lip before mashing them together with her upper lip. She smiled, picked up her hand bag from the bed and made her way out of her room.
Mrs Gina met linda on her way up stairs. Linda tried dodging her immediately she saw her but it was too late as it was going to look very obvious that she was avoiding Mrs Gina.
“Linda!” Mrs Gina called out as she walked faster to meet her.
“Mrs Gina good morning.” Linda greeted as she focused a smile.
“I have been looking everywhere for you since your birthday.” She put on a weird expression. “Are you avoiding me Linda?”
“Umm, no, no, I mean why should I?” Linda quivered as she shook her head.
“I no you won’t.” Mrs Gina nodded with an affable smile. “So… how did your proposal go? I hope you said yes immediately?” She winked at her still smiling.
She scratched her head thinking of what to reply her. “Hummm.” She breathes in and out as she smiled sheepishly with wide eyes.
“You don’t have to say anything my dear.” Mrs Gina said tapping at her on her shoulder. “I know exactly how you feel. You know, I felt same way when I said yes to my husband some years back. It is really not an easy decision to want to agree to spend the rest of your life with a man but honestly it’s okay and it is a good thing.” She kept going on and on about her experience with her husband.
‘I wish that was the case Mrs Gina, I wish he asked me to marry him. He broke up with me on my birthday so there’s really nothing to say yes to.’ Linda said in her head while staring at Mrs Gina as she speak.
“You know, my mother was the happiest woman back then and look at us now, who would have thought that I would be with him up till date.” She paused and smiled as she continued. “Today we have two cute boys. I just can’t wait to officially start planning your wedding, you know how much I love happy endings.”
‘Mrs Gina there is actually going to be no wedding.’ She said again in her head as she rolled her eyes wondering whether or not to break the news to Mrs Gina.
“Linda can you hear me?” Mrs Gina’s voice rang in Linda’s head.
“Yes, umm, sure I am with you.” She lock her teeth together as she forced a smile.
“Okay, good. So don’t be scared I am here for you always.”
“Thank you Mrs Gina. You are going to make me cry.” She broke into a snob.
Mrs Gina hugged her as she tapped her back. “Don’t cry my dear. Don’t, it is actually a good thing and you will be fine.”

“Yes man, I am back.” Donald answered with a deep audible voice.
“And you didn’t even think of letting me know right?”
He exhaled softly. “You know how I feel each time I am around.”
“Of course I do. Welcome to bondage.” He laughed out loud.
“Nah, things are sure going to change this time around.” Donald wiped his face with his palm as he adjusted the collar of his shirt.
“These old men aren’t ready to let us be and do things our way man.”
“I think is time to tell them we are no longer kids.” He said laughing.
“Wow! I think you’ve got the balls to stand up to your dad now. Let’s have some drink this evening, what do you think?” Jason asked him as he licked his lips.
“Sure we should, it’s been like ages since we did. So where is it going to be?”
“I will just text you the address, so get ready in and an hour or two.”
“Okay man.You better get ready to tell me everything that has been going on with you.”
Jason chuckled. “Donald, how is Rachael doing?”
“She’s good and all grown but why are you asking?”
“Umm, don’t tell me you never noticed I had a crush on her since high school.”
“Are you okay? Please don’t go anywhere near her cause you are a real bad dude.”
“Hell no am not.” They both laughed. “Okay see you soon Donald.”
“See you soon Jason.” Donald said as he hang up.
