Chapter Three
Olivia’s POV
"Hello," I said as I picked up the call,
"Oh my God, ok," I said after I heard what the person at the other end of the call said
After the call ended, she jumped up in excitement
"Thank Goodness", I jumped in excitement; I picked up my phone again and dialed Martha's number
"I was hired" I screamed; my phone was on speaker,
"What!" Martha said in disbelief; I am sure she didn't expect that Ethan would hire me because Ethan has the high taste and wants the best
"You must be talented," Martha said,
"I can't believe this. This calls for celebration," Martha said
"Yes", I agreed in excitement
"I'll come over to your place after work," Martha said before she hung up
I was excited, this meant a new beginning, and my life was about to change. With this job, I could be the independent woman I wished for, and the excitement overwhelmed me so much that I stopped thinking of Daniel for the moment
I opened my wardrobe, checking for what I could wear to the evening out with Martha
After four hours, Martha drove over to pick her up from her house
"You're so lucky, girl" Those were Martha's first words as soon as she saw me
"I know. It all happened in s day", I responded
"I bet you impressed him," Martha said. She knew her boss and what he could do; Ethan was a no-nonsense man. He could get you fired quickly, and there's nothing you could do about it,
"Is there anything you think I should know before working in the company? You know how I'm working for the CEO as his PA?" I said I knew Martha would be of help to me, and it would be great if she asked a senior staff about the rules of the place
"Em... Well, you must be careful around Ethan, he hates nonsense, and he loves punctuality and commitment," Martha said
"Who wouldn't like punctuality and commitment? I know that already," I said and paused
"Is there anything you know that I could do to impress my boss so that I can keep my job? You know I practiced my performance for days, but I can't practice my everyday movement before I go to work?" I said
"Yeah, you're right," Martha said and turned to take a glance at my face briefly
"I believe you can do all things, a lot of people came for the interview today, but you were given that position, and I bet you've already impressed him," Martha said, but she got no reply from Olivia
"Just make no mistake, he hates mistakes," Martha said, and that word rang into Olivia's ear
"I'm very clumsy, Martha," I said
"Well, try not to be clumsy and be you because you're perfect in being you," Martha said as the car came to a halt in a big mall
"Let's buy you working clothes and other accessories," Martha said.
"Oh my goodness Martha, thank you so much. Do not worry. When I start working and earning my money, I will take you out shopping, too," I said
"You don't have to do that," Martha said
"No, Martha, you've been so kind to me, and I don't know how I can thank you," I said
"Ok, let's say you owe me a favor, and if I need your help with something, you promise to help me," Martha said
"Yes, I promise to help you, I Pinky finger swear," I said, and we walked into the mall together. I shopped for beautiful gowns and cooperated wear for the office
While shopping, Martha stared at me for several minutes
"What is it, Martha? You've been staring at me for quite some time now. Is there anything that you'd love to tell me," I asked
"Olivia, I'm just glad you could get over Daniel" Those words were like bee stings; the thought of Daniel came into her mind again
Martha saw my sudden change of mood
"I'm sorry if I reminded you of him again," she said
"No, its fine, but I just can't get it. I mean, yes, I now know what Daniel wanted, but I thought we had a genuine relationship," I said
"I guess he wasn't with you for any genuine reason. He just wanted you to cause of your body," Martha said
"And here I was, thinking he truly loved me. Martha, you would not believe it If I told you that I even dreamt that he proposed to me and we became a couple," I said
"I'm so sorry, Olivia," Martha said to comfort me, but it didn't work. I found it hard to shift my attention away from Daniel again
"Like... How did he pretend to love me this while" I said
"I don't know either, and it surprises me", I added
"Martha", Olivia called
"Daniel made me feel like I was worth nothing in this world; his voice lurks, I hear him saying that any guy would cheat on me, and I can't be in a relationship and be undefiled," I said
"But you know that's not true; you're perfect being you. You got a job that people are dying to get, be yourself, Olivia," Martha said, but those words were empty to me; I just smiled back at Martha
After spending an hour shopping, Martha dropped me at home

My alarm rang again; today was a new day, not just any new day but my first day at work. I was excited and overwhelmed. I stood up from my bed and jumped right into the bathroom to shower and brush my teeth, and then prepared my breakfast
I picked my bag up from the table and hurried out of the house; Martha had promised to give me a ride to work
"Good morning, sunshine," Martha said as soon as her eyes caught mine,
"Good morning, Martha; thank you for coming over to pick me up," I said with a smile on my face
