Chapter 3

916 Words
"Papa! We're home!", I scream once we enter the house. "I'm in my office and stop screaming!", I hear his voice. Maddox walks up stairs while I head towards his office. Once I step in Papa takes his glasses off his face and stops typing on his laptop. He owns a big company so he's always away on business trips but still makes time for us. "How was your first day of school sweetheart?" I sit down in the chair across from his. I sway my feet back and forth. I giggle when I notice they barely skim the floor. "It was amazing! I learned some new things and made some friends with Maddy's friends. There was this big guy names Axel-" "Stay away from him.", Papa cuts me off. He voiced all the sudden becoming hard and cold. "W-what?" He said it in such a stern voice tears started to gather in my eyes. Why am I such a crybaby? "He's a bad guy okay Lily? I don't want you to get hurt." He says a little softer when he sees my tears. "Why? H-how?" I question back. "How about you go, finish your homework, than go get ready for bed."  Papa says. I sigh and mumble an okay and walk upstairs.  After a few hours I finished my homework, I bounce down the stairs to make some cookies for tomorrow. I take them out and set them on the counter to cool down. Ring Ring Ring I quickly sit up. Oh my goodness! I didn't get to eat my cookies last night. I pout and mope out of bed. I stomp into my closet to find something to wear. I pick out a light green dress with little white flowers on it. I match it with a black belt putting it on my waist. I look in the mirror. Good enough. I grab my bag and stomp to the front door where Moddox is leaning against the wall. He looks up from his phone, "What's wrong with you?", he asks, raising his eyebrow. I push my face into his chest, "I didn't eat my cookies late night.", I whine. He laughs and rubs my back. He laughed! Well someone's not getting any more yummy treats from me! Just like yesterday, I sit at the boy's lunch table. But this time the only stop open is next to Axel. I frown. He hates me!  I sigh and sit down and pull out my lunchbox. It's bright pink, my favorite color! I feel eyes on me so look up, I gasp internally when I see that it was Axel. "W-what?", I ask, trying to hide my face behind my hair. He reaches his hand up and tucks my hair behind my ear. My cheeks flood with color. What is he doing? Someone clears their throat. I look up to see Maddox glaring at Axel. He stands up and motions for him to follow. They both get up and leave. Dang it! I was gonna give Axel the cookie! Peter ended up walking me to my next class. I walked in and took my usual seat in the back. I sit at this location to avoid the glances the girls in this class tend to give me. I don't know why though! I just want to make a friend or two.  I sigh, maybe I wasn't supposed to make friends. I mean I am pretty different, for example every girl in this room is so tall and pretty with long beautiful legs. While mine barely touch the floor when I sit down. Everyone has gone to public school their entire life, it's just my first year. No experience whatsoever. I shake my head,  trying to get rid of those negative feelings. I'll just try to focus. The teacher walks in, I instantly pull out my pink notebook to take notes in.  About 25 minutes into class I start to hear yelling and chanting starts in the hallway. Everyone's heads snap towards the door. Some people even start to get up and see what's going on in the hall. The rest of the class, including me, follows "Everyone sit down now!". Mr. I don't know your name yells. No one listens. Once I manage to wiggle my way into the hallway I jump a little at the sight. The students formed around something or someone  Most of them are chanting "Fight, fight, fight!". I don't like this! I slam my hands over my ears as I push my way through the circle to see what's happening. I'm going no were! I wine. Cure my dumb dumby height! I finally see an opening between two people. I can easily squeeze through the gap! Thank the lord for my size! I smile once I make my way through the crowd. But that goes away when I see what's happening. Axel has another boy pinned against the lockers. He keeps punching him. He hits his nose and it starts to bleed. My breathing starts to get heavy as tears rush down my cheeks. I whimper quietly. I hate violence! It's never the answer come on, why can't they just talk it out peacefully! I looked back up at the grotesque fighting, but it stopped. Axel had already dropped the boy. I looked from the boy up to Axel. He was breathing heavily, he fists were tightly clenched with blood on his knuckles. My eyes finally connected with his. This can't be good
