Liliana's Innocence

Chapter 8

I look up to see a beautiful woman sitting in a rocking chair, with a little baby wrapped in white blanket. The baby laid nestled in the woman's arms as she rock's back and forth.

The woman has a soft smile on her face. Her angelic brown hair flowed down her shoulders and ended just below her chest. I couldn't put my finger on it, but she looked so familiar. It then struck me, she is the girl in the one of the photos papa showed me. The photos of Mama.

I gasp and try to run to her but I cant my feet won't let me move, "Mama! Mama!", I scream out. She doesn't hear me, she keeps rocking the baby back and forth. I look to the side and see a figure dressed in white walking up to her. 

Mama looks up and smiles softly, she puts the baby in the white figures arms gently. The baby then stays screaming and crying, yearning for its mother's touch. She gets up from the rocking chair and starts walking towards me.

The baby, the white figure and the rocking chair disappeared. I tried to reach out to her but she fell. Gone. From the face of the earth.

I gasp and shoot up in the bed I'm sitting in.

I open my eyes and regret it almost instantly when the bright light from the window seeps into the room.

I look over my left shoulder to see a heart monitor. Looking down at my body, I'm dressed in a hospital gown. Hospital. I'm in a hospital.

The heart monitor starts to beep faster as my heart rate and breathing pick up. I've always had a bad fear of hospitals. The last time I had an episode, I was in the hospital for three months. The worst experience of my life. I almost lost my life in one of them when I was born.

The door bursts open as a doctor walks in. She rushes up to my bed and places her hand on my shoulder.

"I need you to take some deep breaths okay. No one here is gonna hurt you. You are safe.".

After taking a few deep breaths, I manage to calm down.

"I'm gonna go get your family okay?", she asked.

I nodded and layed back down on the bed recalling the dream I had. It felt so real, like she was right there. That was the first time I've ever had a dream about her. I shake it off and wait for them.

After a few minutes Papa and Maddox came rushing into the room to my side. I lightly giggle at their worried faces.

"Liliana! Thank god you're okay. You scared us.", Papa sighs and strokes my hair.

"Mr. Grey, your daughter almost went into cardiac arrest. It was very serious, almost life threatening. Nothing else would have caused this but severe stress on the heart. Unless she hasn't been taking her pills. I'm gonna double the dose for a little while and see what happens. Overall just rest and take it easy. Don't do anything that will cause to much stress.". She says and leaves the room giving us time to talk together.

I winced when she brought up the pills, they both are gonna be so mad at me. I'm always supposed to have the pills on me in case something like this happens. I'm also supposed to be taking them. I stopped for a while because I thought I didn't need them, turns out I did.

"Liliana Hazel Grey! Why haven't you been taking your medication!". He says disappointed in me.

My eyes start to water when I hear the disappointment in his voice. I didn't want to disappoint anyone, I've been doing that a lot lately.

"I-im sorry p-papa. I-i just thought that s-since I didn't have an e-episode in a-awhile it should be o-okay.", I say. Hiccups start to come out. I put my head in my hands and sob.

Papa pulls me into a hug, "Shh Lily it's okay you have to be more careful next time. I don't want to lose you again, you were so close." I nod my head understanding what he ment.

After I pull out of the hug papa leaves to go sign me out of this horrible place.

"You know Axel came around.", My head shoots up at this. So does Maddox's eyebrow.

"He's mad at himself for what he did. I can tell he likes you and never wanted to harm you. Do you like him Lily?".

Do I like him? I mean I think so, I feel safe around him. I feel almost loved. I've never really had a crush on a boy. Okay maybe once in preschool. So this is all very new to me, I nod my head and look back up at Maddox.

"But can you promise me one thing Lily?", he says getting serious. 

"What is it?", I ask

"If he ever hurts you or touches you in any way you don't like, tell me and I'll handle it.", I nod agreeing.

He holds out his pinky for me to grab. I link mine and shake, sealing the promise.

Axel's POV:

I run my hands through my hair as I storm out of the hospital. How could I be so f*****g stupid. I'm supposed to be gentle with her. She's so fragile and tiny I could easily break her. 

After getting in my car, I drive towards my empty house. It's always been empty just me, never a home just a house.

I throw open the door and put my keys on the counter. I walk up to stairs and into my room. I grab a towel and jump in the shower.

My thoughts take over as the water runs down on me.

How could I have been so stupid! The one good thing in my life and I still manage to f**k it up. Jesus, I'm overthinking to much I sound like a goddamn girl. But what if she never talks to me again? Shut the f**k up. What if she never forgives me! 

"Ughhh!", I shout, I sigh loudly as I run my fingers through my hair!

I get out of shower and wrap the towel around my waist. After drying off I put on some grey sweatpants.  Just as I'm about to put a shirt on I hear knocking at the door. Who the hell knocks anymore? I walk down the stairs and throw open the door. I look down and see a little angel.

"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in the hospital?", I question coming off a little rude. s**t!

She looks down at her feet, "i-um, I got r-released early. Y-you look a l-little busy I'll c-come ba-.". I cut her off by grabbing her arm gently and bringing her inside.

I lead her to the couch in the living room and hand her the remote.

"Why don't you pick out a movie and I'll get some snacks to eat ya?", she nods and shyly takes the remote.

I walk into the kitchen and open the cabinets to find some things to eat. Geez I need to go shopping. I finally find some chips and popcorn, while the popcorn is in the microwave I put the chips in the bowl. I spot some Coco Puffs on the fridge and grab them remembering how much she liked them.

I grab all four bowls and carry them back into the living room. I set them on the coffee table and look at the TV to see what movie Lily picked.

"Tangled huh?", I say teasing her a bit. I plop down right next to her and put my arm above her head on the couch.

She blushes, "Y-ya it's my favorite m-movie.", then she goes on to blabber about how amazing it was. I wasn't listening, I was too busy looking at her. Her innocent beauty.

When she stopped talking she realized that I was looking at her. She tries to hide her face behind her hair. I reach my hand up and tuck it behind her ear.

I cup her cheek with my other hand, "You're beautiful.", I whisper then bringing my lips to her's.
