I've Always Been Yours

KYRA "pst. pst. ky" I heard my best friend Ali whisper during our precalculus class. Precalculus isnt our favorite subject in fact out of all our Senior classes this one has to be the worst one! Grabbing the note she wrote I slowly open it to see what she says: hey girl! wanna go dress shopping after school? proms only a few weeks away and we all need dresses. hopefully, we can manage to get the guys to come with us maybe if they see us all in dresses they can match their tuxes easier. Kyra can't help but giggle at her friend. Ali is obsessed with shopping and will do every day without a reason if you'd let her. We come from pretty prominent families but I don't like to flaunt that my family has money like most of my friends to but quickly responding back before I pretend to be paying attention I reply: hey girl. of course we can go shopping right after cheerleading practice. I can't believe proms soon! we may be able to get them to go after practice or something but you do know just because we all hang out with the guys they could already have dates they never officially asked us! Ali scoffs and wrinkles her nose when she reads my reply. We all have unofficial couples within our friend groups like we're not officially dating but we all act like we are a couple. It's a weird dynamic but we're just a group of girls who seem to hang out with the same group of guys all the time. We're the cheerleaders in our school. I'm the cheer captain with Ali as my co-captain. We mainly hang out with the senior girls. So today's shopping trip will most likely be me, Ali, Hannah, Aria and Leah. Once the bell rings indicating the end of class and thankfully the end of the day we all head towards our lockers when I hear someone yelling for me. Spinning around I see Hayden coming my way so I drop my bag and run launching myself into his arms while he spins me around and we laugh. Hayden has been my best friend since we moved here when I was 7. We met in our first grade class and just so happened our mom's work together so we just got closer over the years as best friends. I started falling in love with Hayden when I was like 15. He was my first kiss and he's always treated me like a princess. Jumping out of Hayden's hold I smile up at him when he asks if I'm ready for practice! The guys usually walk us to cheer practice when they go out to the football field. Hayden holds my hand like always as he leads me down to the field as all the girls and guys follow behind us talking about plans after school. The guys agreed to accompany us to the dress store. Hayden usually hangs out with Kyle, Lukas, Lincoln and Mac. Usually if we do something that requires partners my girls split off with his guys. Our pairs usually go: Hayden and I Ali and Lincoln Leah and Lukas Aria and Mac Kyle and Hannah Unfortunately, the only real couple in the whole group is Aria and Mac. They have been officially a couple for about six months now. They just hit it off and during a party one night Mac told her he didn't want her with any other guys she was his and he was hers. They're adorable together. During cheer practice I can't help but to keep glancing at Hayden running his plays. I know it's cliche and everything the head cheerleader and the senior football quarterback right, but he's adorable and I'm head over heels for my best friend. Aria clears her throat before she calls for a group huddle to whisper to us "I think for prom night Mac was going to order a block of hotel rooms at his parents hotel so we can have an after party there. He mentioned about maybe we'd be ready to take that next step... I think on prom night I'm finally going to lose my virginity guys!! We will definitely need to make sure we get waxed and primped." I agree everyone says at the same time causing us to erupt in a lot of laughter. Looking at my girls I make a suggestion that I don't know where it even came from: "maybe we should all make a pack that prom night we all lose our virginity. I mean no ones officially a couple so maybe this week we should start looking for dates. That way we lose our virginity before college?" Surprised as I am. Ali speaks up "we all know your going to prom with Hayden, Ky do you think you can sleep with him with no strings attached? I mean it's obvious that your head over heels for him already? I don't wanna see you get hurt " "Hayden never asked me to prom. Who am I to assume he doesn't already have another date? Let's see how shopping goes and if he doesn't ask me before Monday then we are officially looking for different dates!!! Who knows maybe we can find out Mr. Right Nows." I answer. "Look out. Here the boys come all freshly showered and looking amazingly comfortable!" Hannah and Leah say overtop of each other. "Hello pretty girl. Did you enjoy watching me practice today Ky? I can't help but to notice you were totally checking us out!" Hayden mummers into my ear as he grabs my bag off my shoulder. Blushing slightly I wink at him and tell him I wasn't actually watching him but I was checking out Lukas. Lukas walks over to me, pulls me into his arms and smirks at Hayden when teasing him "hey ky, wanna ride to the mall with me beautiful. I think it's about time someone locks you down!". Hayden growls, snatches me away from Lukas and throws me over his shoulder while the whole group laughs at his playful antics he shouts over his shoulder, "Kyra is mine. We'll meet y'all at the mall in the side parking lot." before walking me over to his pick up truck and sliding me into the front seat. Checking around to make sure the others are getting into cars as Hayden walks around to the driver side, opens his door, flips off the guys who are joking with him still before sliding into the driver seat and buckling his seatbelt. Looking over at me all seriously Hayden says "I don't like it when other guys touch you Kyra even if they are my friends." Smirking, I lean close to Hayden and whispered interesting his ear "well I don't like it when guys who aren't you are touching me either Hay but think about it while we head to the mall. We're both fair game to other people. I'm not your girlfriend and your aren't my boyfriend." as I peck his cheek and turn to look out the window. The rest of the drive to the mall is done just jamming out to the radio with us both sneaking glances at one another. Once we get to the mall while we wait for the others Hayden leans over, tilts my head towards him, smirks before he kisses me whispering "you'll always be my girl Kyra always."
