THE ANCIENT HUNT

LET HER STAY

Shael woke up at dawn to see herself in an unfamiliar environment, she turned to her side after staring at the roof for some minutes to see Ahiga sleeping soundly by the corner of the room, she gasped with her eyes as big as that of a panda and jolted up quickly to check herself, she saw that she was in a strange cloth that probably belongs to Ahiga, she also checked her skirt to see that it was intact

"That is a relief, a big relief" she murmured to herself before scanning around the room for a door

"I should get myself out of this place before he wakes up to save myself of the embarrassment" she concluded and stood up to tiptoe out of the room but little did she know that the door was locked where she didn't know

Ahiga stayed behind in the room and slept there but he woke up to the sound of the door shaking as if someone wanted to force it open, he opened his eyes to see Shael panicking and shaking the door since she wanted to go out

"You are up already? how are you feeling now?" he said to her and she turned to face him before releasing an ear piercing yell

"What's wrong? why are you yelling?" he asked surprise at her sudden attitude before rising up to face her to get what was going on

"Don't! don't you dare move closer" she yelled grabbing the long broom sitting by the side of the room to defend herself

"I don't know what you are thinking but you should calm down and listen to me for a bit" he advised but she waved the broom to keep him off her

"if you take another step, I will break all these on your head" she said feistily waving the broom

"I don't think this is the right attitude you should show to someone who risked their lives to rescue you from those animals" he said with a frustrated voice and she stopped for a bit before what happened the previous day rushed into her memories

"Oh my God! you were the one who saved me from those evil young masters" she said dropping the broom with immediate effect before covering her mouth

"I see you can remember now" he muttered standing in akimbo

"Thank you for saving me but why am I here with you? I don't even know you and where I am, how sure am I that this place is safe?" she said eyeing him as she covered her chest with her hands, the clothes were going apart as the rope holding it place was loosened while she was performing her broom display

"If I wanted to do something bad to you, wouldn't I have done that in the forest and leave you there? why go through the stress of bringing you home? I only brought you home because you fainted and I don't know the way to your home so don't get the wrong idea" he replied sharply trying to defend himself

"Ah I see! thank you for saving me" she said with a low repentance tone and he sighed

"Did only bad things happen to you? why are you defensive?" he muttered packing up the blankets he slept with

"I'm sorry for being that defensive but just like you have said, only bad thigs keep happening to me so I have to get my guards up" she answered and he bit his lips slowly

"You can take your time to come out, I will go prepare what we will eat for the morning" he informed her and left the room for her

"He doesn't seem like a bad man, why did I overreact and embarrass myself?" she said to herself knocking her head and sat back on the bed

Ahiga went out to make the meal for the day and met Adahy refilling his gun to get ready for hunting, he greeted him and he paused what he was doing for w moment to look at him

"It seems she's awake, feed her and wait for me to come back, we will take her back to her place in the evening" Adahy said and his shoulder dropped

"But you can't afford to make her go back there, it's too dangerous for her and you know" He insisted

"Listen, the reason why most people find themselves in trouble is because they don't know how to mind their businesses, if they end up finding her here do you know what that means? I will be accused of stealing a governor's slave and I don't think I am ready for that struggle so you should make your choice now, weigh your options and see if the risk is worth taking" Adahy told him before resuming what he was doing

"I understand what you are trying to say but still can't we just ..." he wanted to try and persuade him to see things from his point of view but they were interrupted by a voice they both turned to look at

It was Shael

"I'm sorry for butting into your conversation but I can see that it's about me so I had to interrupt, can you please not let me go back? I don't want to go back to the fiery pit, I will do all sort of house cores you want me to do but please do not send me back to my former place" she begged as she went on her knees to show them the extent at which she meant what she was telling them

"you can see that she's also begging you, let's not make her go back please uhn?" Ahiga said joining her to beg Adahy who sighed as he was caught in between, he clearly didn't want any trouble for himself but he can't also ignore the plea of a teenager begging not to be sent back to a fiery pit

"You can stay for a while but we will discuss more when I come back" he said closing his eyes in defeat while Ahiga ran to hug him in happiness

"Get off me, I have to go work for the day" he grunted shoving him away and marched out of the compound
