"You can stay for a while but we will discuss more when I come back" he said closing his eyes in defeat while Ahiga ran to hug him in happiness
"Get off me, I have to go work for the day" he grunted shoving him away and marched out of the compound for work
Ahiga and Shael stood back at home to clean and cook, they finished the house chore and was waiting round doing nothing when Ahiga remembered that there are many places he could show her instead of just staying idle at home
Shael on the other hand had locked herself in the room where she slept and was turning Ahiga's jacket she already gotten from him to a blouse that she will put on since she didn't have a cloth thanks to the beasts that tore her top
She was through and put it on to check it out when she heard a soft knock on the door, she stopped for a while before slowly moving to the door to open it and found Ahiga waiting there
"Do you want to check out the environment? I know you will love it when you see it" he proposed and she nodded immediately
He scanned her from head to toe and saw that she had transformed his clothes which made him shocked at how she gave it a new look
"Wow, this is fascinating, you are a seamstress?" he asked looking at the cloth on her
"Not really a seamstress but I know a lot about the job since that was what my mother did before she died, I picked up some of the skills I think" she replied moving out of the room
They strolled to the back of the house and were talking as they walked deeper into the forest where he kept showing her many interesting things about the village. They got to the canal and he paused before sighing and revealing his own information to her
"I don't know if you have figured it out but I am not related to Adahy, he found me here in the canal where I was lying unconscious and took me home to treat me. Ever since then, I have been staying with him with the hope of returning home someday" he explained to her gently
She was shocked at the revelation but tried her best to compose herself, she stopped for a bit before deciding to ask him the questions lingering in her mind
"Perhaps do you not know the way back home?" she stated and looked at him
"I know the way back home of course, why do you ask?" he replied as they strolled back home
"Then why are you staying back here instead of going back home? I'm sure there are people waiting for you at home" she remarked
"Well, thinking about that, it's true that there's someone waiting for my return but I can't go back empty handed because I promised them something, I'm doing all sort of jobs to make money so I can carry out my promise to them, as soon as I have enough money, I will surely leave here and go home" he explained
"Ah I see" she quietly reacted
"What of you? do you not know the way home?" he asked facing her
"I don't even have a home to begin with, the only place I called home has been taken away from me overnight and also I am someone who has to live like she's dead because I know there's someone after my life" she responded and he gasped
"there's someone after your life? why? did you do something bad before running away from home?" he asked and she smiled
"The only thing I did wrong was being at the right place at the wrong time, I got to witness what I shouldn't have and that caused me my friend, home and everything. I ran away and got captured by the governor to become his slave, now his son's friends kidn*pped me and even wanted to have their way with me by force, isn't my life so pitiful, I don't even know the point of living at this point" she narrated and her throat choked with tears
"I'm sorry I triggered such a painful memory but you shouldn't give up on living, you never can tell what will happen and how the universe will turn to help you so live all day in hope that things will get better" he advised and she slowly nodded at his advice
"We should go to the market, you can't be putting on the same clothes every day, we can get you some spare clothes" he added and led the way
They went into the market and he bought two clothes for her like he had promised, he assured her that he will get more for her as soon as he can so she should manage them for the time being
"this is more than enough, I really appreciate the kind gestures" she replied before raising her head to see a*****e of musical instruments in front of them
"wow! that's the erhu over there" she remarked and hopped there in happiness
She took one from the stand and touched it in happiness, her eyes were beaming with joy as she held the instrument in her hand preciously and was staring at it so hard
"You know about it?" he asked from the side and she nodded
"It's an instrument I play well but I don't think I will be able to play it any longer" she replied with a smile which faded as soon as it appeared on her face and slowly dropped it
"Let's go home" she said turning back
"But why do you not want to play it? you seems to excited when you saw it back there" he asked as they headed home
"Do you think it's some ordinary instrument? it's expensive, I will get one when I have made enough money" she answered and he sighed in relief
"I thought you never wanted to play because something bad happened" he said as they arrived at the house and met Adahy who was back from hunting already
"You are back? you came back so fast today" he remarked as he moved closer to see that he brought home so many games
"We will have to sell them, you brought many today" he said checking them out
"We still have to talk you know" Adahy said with a chilly voice and Ahiga slowly stood up to listen to what he has to say
