----Fenris----
***Caspian's POV***
Fenris was beyond giddy today and bounded around in my mind. He felt like he was just a little pup about to go for his first run.
"What is going on, Fenris?" I growled as I mind linked him. He was distracting me from working.
"I get to go on a run with a newly awoken wolf tonight! It's so exciting!" He responded as I groaned.
"I understand that you're excited but can you please keep it down to a dull roar? I'm trying to work." My head pounded at his pacing and prancing.
He didn't normally seem as excited with other new wolf runs. Why was he this excited for this one?
Giving up on working, I went for a quick stroll as I saw her. The one that plagued my thoughts ever since I laid eyes on her.
Her knee was getting bandaged up. Did she hurt herself? My instincts demanded to run over there to make sure she was okay. I grew angry at the thought of someone hurting her but my resolve to not get involved won the battle and I walked away.
"She's an omega. She isn't worth your time." I thought to myself and Fenris whined in protest.
A few hours passed and I heard girls singing happy birthday in the courtyard. Peeking out of the window, I saw her again and she looked radiant. Her smile was infectious as I slowly grinned myself at her happiness.
"Ugh, i***t. Stop it. You're growing soft." I snarled and tore my eyes away from her. To try to get my mind off her, I decided to go train with my Beta but it was useless as she plagued my mind.
Finally, it was time to meet her for our first run. She would morph in front of me as it was tradition and we would run. I had to admit, something felt different about this first run.
I hesitated for a few good moments before Fenris urged me to go meet her.
"Run! Run!" He howled happily and started to bound around in my mind as I told him to shut up.
I made my way to the courtyard and she looked up at me with those beautiful purple eyes. The way the firepit in the middle lit up her face made her look majestic and even goddess-like.
I gaped for a moment until I heard a nervous giggle.
"Uh, hello Alpha Caspian. It's nice to finally meet you in person without you having to tear me away from guards." She gave me a playful smirk as she teased me.
"I don't think I introduced myself. My name is Camila. I, unfortunately, don't know my last name due to being a rogue child that was given a new home."
Camila, a beautiful name and a tragic story of not knowing who she was.
"He is just one of the playboys here at the pack house. You best stay away from him." I lied as I didn't even know myself why I did it.
I extended my hand and she took it as we both felt a jolt of electricity when they met. Her shocked expression looked adorable even though I would never admit that to myself or anyone else.
"What was that?" She asked as I didn't have an actual answer to it.
"I'm not really sure." I said gruffly and without emotion to hide my confusion.
"The moon is full and high in the sky. The Moon Goddess has blessed our run this evening with her full moon. It's time to shift, Camila."
She nodded quietly and I could read the anxiety and doubt in her eyes. After a few moments, nothing happened. She looked absolutely crestfallen.
“Ugh. This better not take a long time. I have other things I need to get done today.” I thought to myself.
"Just imagine your wolf inside. Call her name. She should have met you already today." I growled with irritation in my voice.
Camila closed her eyes as she concentrated.
"Eris."
Suddenly, she started to transform as her body bent into unnatural ways. After a minute, a gorgeous pure white wolf with deep amethyst eyes looked at me.
I had never seen a pure white wolf before as they were incredibly rare. Also, for an omega to have one as her wolf, it threw me way off any inclinations I had before.
Staring at the wolf, I felt frozen for a moment. She was so beautiful and perfect. The moon hit her fur to make it look almost ethereal. I couldn't believe my eyes. If she wasn’t an Omega, I would have sworn that she was an Alpha with how large and beautiful her wolf was.
She tilted her head as Fenris became more and more anxious at each passing second.
"Let me out! Let me out!" He begged and lept around in my mind.
"Why are you in such a rush?" I asked Fenris and the next words made my world come crashing down.
"Mate! She's our mate!" He howled happily.
Shit! An omega is my mate?! Is that why I couldn't get her out of my mind? She would never be powerful enough to lead this pack! I can't have some lowly omega as my Luna! That's completely out of the question.
The color drained from my face as Eris tilted her head in confusion.
"Mate! She's beautiful! We want her!" Fenris exclaimed with such enthusiasm.
"Ugh." I thought. “What do I even do about this? Why would the Moon Goddess pair me up with a useless Omega?” I pondered more, growing angrier by the moment.
"Let's get this run over with. I don't need to waste any more time on an omega." I snarled as her wolf shrank back like I inflicted a wound on her. Her deep violet eyes mirrored her hurt as I felt a twinge of guilt at saying that.
Morphing into Fenris, I realized that my silver and blue wolf looked like her’s. Pushing Fenris forward against his will, we started to run without her.
“We are getting this over with, now, Fenris.” I growled. “Whether she is ready or not.”
Fenris peered back and saw Eris running up from behind. Her movements were graceful and even mesmerizing. I willed Fenris forward as I didn’t look back until we reached the peak of the highest edge in the forest.
----Moon----
***Camila's POV***
I could smell him before he even came over to me as I waited in the courtyard. He smelled like husky notes of cinnamon and bergamot. It made my mouth water as the scent grew stronger with each step. What was wrong with me?
Caspian came over, looking like he beared the worries of the world on his back. The shock of our first touch made my eyes widen as he looked just as confused by it but quickly changed the subject.
My heart rate skyrocketed at the thought of transforming into my wolf for the first time.
"It's time to shift, Camila." His voice beckoned.
Trying to focus, I desperately grasped at the desire to morph into Eris. Seeing her eyes in my mind, it felt like I was falling into a pitch black abyss in tryint to find her for us to be whole. Gasping, I panicked at the darkness and opened my eyes before I could find her. Devastation replaced my panic as I looked up to see Caspian absolutely irritated with me.
"Just imagine your wolf inside. Call her name. She should have met you already today." He snapped at me as tears stung my eyes.
I closed my eyes again, concentrating harder as I could see my body sinking into the black abyss. Up ahead, a pure white wolf with amethyst eyes met me.
"Eris." I said softly before excruciating pain took over my body.
My body twisted and bent in unnatural ways while I heard my bones cracking and reforming. Soon, I felt the ground under my paws and a sense of peace. I did it!
I tilted my head curiously because Caspian hadn't transformed yet. A shock rocked my body as Eris and I both said: "Mate" in our mind link to each other.
It looked like Caspian had seen a ghost as his face was devoid of color. I wonder if he realized it too? That I was his mate?
It made sense now. Why I couldn't get him out of my mind. Why he plagued every action I did. He was my mate.
"Let's get this run over with. I don't need to waste any more time on an omega." He barked out angrily while it felt like someone had stabbed my heart.
I was a nobody because I was an omega. He probably thought I wouldn't be a strong enough Luna. My tail curled up around my hindleg in a mixture of shame and hurt.
Caspian transformed into his wolf as I noticed that he looked similar to Eris. My thoughts were interrupted as his wolf bounded forward as I scrambled to catch up.
After getting the hang of running, I followed him with ease. We reached the peak as his wolf stopped and looked at me.
Oh goddess, the way the full moon basked his fur in a heavenly glow… it was like he was a god. I loved him already. Is this what finding your mate does? You fall in love immediately with them and think they are perfect?
His wolf's eyes were unreadable as it looked like they were having an internal conflict. I wanted to touch him. I wanted to feel his wolf's fur against mine.
He changed back into a human and his eyes looked cold. My heart sank looking at him. Something was wrong.
"Morph back into a human, NOW!" Caspian used his Alpha voice as I was forced to comply to my Alpha.
Changing back into a human, a flicker of regret flashed across his blood red eyes.
The minutes that passed with us in silence felt like an eternity. Anxiety nagged at me much like a toddler pulling at one's dress every two seconds begging to play. I must have stood completely still because I felt the uncomfortable tingling of my legs from standing still for too long. I refused to move as he looked at me.
His eyes moved up and down me before he growled.
"You're my mate? A lowly omega?" He scoffed as the knife stabbed deeper into my fragile heart.
"The moon goddess wouldn't make a poor pairing. I'm paired with you for a reason." I raised my chin a little bit to look a bit more confident even though my insides could best be described as a whole zoo in a rampage.
"The moon goddess must have been drunk when she paired me, an Alpha, to a bottom of the totem pole Omega." He snarked while I bit my bottom lip to prevent myself from slapping him for speaking about the goddess that way.
"I'll just fix this right now then." He shrugged and took a few steps closer to me.
"I, Caspian, reject my Moon Goddess fated mate, Camila. I sever our bond, effective immediately." He said in his Alpha voice as the ground rumbled to his voice.
My tears openly fell as I heard his rejection. My mate rejected me! He didn't want me! All because I was an Omega. I was devastated and heartbroken; my body falling to my knees as I sobbed.
I braced myself for the searing pain that was to follow after being rejected from your mate. People have said that dying was a better way to go than being rejected. I prayed that it wouldn't hurt as badly as they claim it did.
I looked up at Caspian while his eyes had a steely resolve to them. He would suffer from this rejection as much as I would.
The wind blew as it whipped my hair off my shoulder as I stayed glued, frozen in place. I didn't want this pain to come!
Caspian's eye twitched as nothing continued to happen. He started to grow impatient as I noticed him tapping his foot.
"Why is nothing happening? I don't feel the bond broken." He growled.
"He is still our mate. This bond can't be broken." Eris spoke softly in my head.
"What the f**k do you mean that this omega and I have an unseparable bond, Fenris?!" Caspian roared while his eyes looked like they could kill.
