Veronica was so excited about meeting her parents. It’s been months since she met them. She only hoped that her parents would be okay.
“You guys, go to her parents. I am going to fetch Bella,” Sam told them.
“Keep her safe,” Veronica told him with a warning gaze.
“Always,” Sam smirked, replying to Veronica, and left.
“Ready to go to California?” Eli asked Veronica, who nodded excitedly. “Then let’s go. I’ll teleport you guys there in no time,” he said.
“NO.” Eli looked at her confusedly.
“Why not?”
“You are already exhausted, Eli, from the earlier event, and CA is farther away from here,” Veronica said in a worried tone.
“Cupcake, I’m alright. And this will be faster and safer.” Veronica shook her head as Eli tried to convince her. “I’ll be alright, promise,” he said, ignoring Veronica’s constant protest.
“Eli…” Eli stopped Edwin before he even started.
“Guys, stop. She is enough,” Eli stated.
“What do you mean she is enough?” Veronica shouted, slapping his arms. Eli chuckled.
“You are enough for complaining!” Eli said, pinching her nose. Veronica pouted at him. “I’ll be fine,” Eli reassured her, placing a kiss on her forehead. He took Edwin, Jason, and Veronica’s hands and teleported them to California, near Veronica’s home.
As Eli has taken a lot of damage due to the immobilizing spell and then teleporting a group of people at a long distance, this has drained most of his energies. He fell to his knees as soon as he teleported them.
“Eli!” Veronica crouched down beside Eli and cradled him in her arms. “You said you would be alright,” Veronica whimpered.
“I am, as long as you are safe,” Eli whispered weakly. Veronica caressed his cheek softly, wishing so desperately to heal him and take away all his exhaustion. “What was that?” Eli asked her as a strange, overwhelming energy surged through his body, and he felt refreshed and reenergized.
“Ruth said I have some of Raphael’s gifts. Maybe healing is one of them,” she said with a shrug. A soft smile crept across Eli’s lips. Eli knew she was his drug—a drug to heal his broken heart, a drug to keep his heart beating, and a light in his dark life.
“Told ya, I’ll be fine as long as you are here,” Eli whispered, grinning at her.
“I think we should get going,” Edwin said, clearing his throat. He pulled her up and led her to her house, slipping his hand around her waist. Eli and Jason followed them behind.
“She is the reason, isn’t she?” Jace asked in a whisper, only for Eli to hear. Eli frowned, not catching the meaning of his words. “She is the reason you rejected your second chance mate?” Jason repeated.
“Is it that obvious?” Eli asked with a sigh.
“It is. Does she know?” Jason questioned him again. Eli shook his head.
“She doesn’t need to.” Jason scoffed at Eli’s words. Jason didn’t say anything, but he knew that someday Eli would get what he deserved and what belonged to him.
---------------
Veronica was standing in front of her parents’ door, too nervous to knock. Edwin placed his hand on her shoulder, encouraging her. She knocked on the door and waited for a few minutes before the door opened, revealing a middle-aged man in his late forties.
“Hey, Dad,” Veronica uttered nervously. The man was standing there, surprised to see his daughter after months. The man opened his arms for her, and Veronica threw herself at him, who cradled her in his chest.
“My Princess,” her dad kissed her on the head, caressing her back. “How dare you run off from home, only leaving a letter! Don’t do this again,” he warned her, pulling away. She gave him an apologetic smile. No one could resist her smile.
“Hendrik, whom are you talking to?” A woman’s voice came from behind. Veronica peeked from behind her dad and said, “Hey, mom.”
Livia Smith slapped her palms over her mouth in shock. “Oh my God—oh my God!” she cried out, not believing what she saw with her eyes. “Is it you… Is it really you?” she exclaimed in shock as Veronica stood in front of her. “I can’t believe you came back. Oh my God,” she sniveled, cupping her face and kissing her non-stop.
“Mom, stop crying. Of course, I came back. Why wouldn’t I? It’s my home. You are my home,” Veronica said softly, cuddling her mother.
“I don’t wanna interrupt your mother-daughter reunion, but who are they?” Hendrik asked Veronica, pointing his fingers towards the door. Damn, Veronica totally forgot about them. Veronica rushed towards them.
“Dad, this is Edwin, my boyfriend. He is Edwin’s brother, Eli, and this is Jason, his friend,” Veronica introduced them.
“You’ve got a boyfriend?” Hendrik asked her incredulously. Veronica nodded. “Put your hand down at this instant and come stand beside me,” Henderik ordered her, pointing towards Edwin and her entangled arms. Veronica removed her hand reluctantly and stood beside him with a sigh.
“Dad, you can ask them to come inside, you know,” Veronica told her dad, rubbing the back of her neck.
“Why should I? And did I give my approval to your relationship?” Hendrik asked her, and she shook her head in response.
“Come on, Hendrik. Don’t be such a mean person,” Livia stated, turning her head to the entrance. “You guys, come inside,” she asked them softly, dragging Hendrik to the living room.
“Sorry about that. My dad’s kind of possessive,” Veronica whispered, walking beside Edwin.
“I figured it out,” Edwin chuckled.
“Hey, didn’t I tell you to stay two feet away from him?” Hendrik shrieked, noticing them together again.
“Hendrik!” Livia hissed at him.
“I didn’t give them my approval,” Hendrik complained again, like a child.
“You don’t need to,” Livia muttered.
“She is my daughter,” Hendrik argued.
“And an adult,” Livia retorted.
“Why are you making so much noise?” Veronica’s sister, Lily, said, coming out of her room. Lily’s eyes widened as her eyes fell on Veronica. “You…! What are you doing here? Don’t tell me your so-called parents abandoned you once again,” Lily snickered.
“Lily, shut up!” Hendrik yelled at her.
“Why should I? Your little daughter here went to find her real parents. Then why the hell did she come back?” Lily shouted once again.
“Lily, stop it,” Livia scolded her this time.
“Yeah, you always tell me to shut up. Fine! I am leaving. Stay with your beloved daughter.” Lily strode out of the house. Jason followed Lily behind.
“Jace, where are you going?” Edwin asked him in a whisper only audible to the supernatural.
“I have some business. I will be back,” Jason left, whispering back.

Lily had been sitting on a bench under a big tree since she left her house. No one in this damn world understands her—not one, not even her parents. She was staring at the large field in front of her when she heard someone. She looked up to see the person. And she was mesmerized by the stunning man in front of her, who had blue hair, dark eyes, and a radiant smile.
He took a seat beside her and repeated his question again, “Why do you hate Vicky so much?” The mention of her sister made her angry again.
“Who are you?” Lily barked the question at him.
“Oh, sorry. I didn’t introduce myself. I am Jason… Jason Ward,” Jason said, stretching out his hand for her to shake. And she elegantly ignored him.
“I didn’t ask your name. I asked, Who the hell are you to ask me about that b***h?” She snapped at him. Jason sighed at his newly found super-feisty mate.
“Well, I am your sister’s boyfriend’s best friend. So tell me why you hate her. She isn’t so bad. Do you even hate her?” Jason asked, trying to annoy his already annoyed mate. Lily scoffed.
“Another admirer of hers,” she muttered.
“I only want a reason,” Jason shrugged.
“You want a reason. Then listen. She is stupid. My own biological parents love that stupid girl more than me,” she ranted. Her face was all red with anger. “She is the apple of everyone’s eye. Everyone loves her despite all her stupidity and stubbornness. THAT DAMN GIRL RAN AWAY FROM HOME WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE AND WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OR THE DANGER. And when she came back, my mom and dad just forgave her without scolding her,” Lily roared.
“So, you were worried about her,” Jason commented.
“Who… me?” Lily scoffed, pointing her fingers towards her, “...for that dumb b***h? No way.”
Jason didn’t comment on that and only asked whether she was up for a drink. Lily was feeling down; she needed a drink. So when a stranger offered, she didn’t refuse. At least she could take her mind off things, even if it was only for a moment.
*******
All of them were sitting on the couch in the living room. Veronica was sitting between Edwin and Eli, across from her mom and dad, much to her dad’s disapproval.
“So, have you found your parents?” Livia asked Veronica.
“Kind of,” Veronica shrugged. She was nervous as hell. She didn’t know how to tell her parents. She can’t just tell them that ‘Mom, Dad, whom you raised for years, isn’t a human. She is a freaking Lycan-Fairy hybrid,’ and expects them not to freak out. “Mom-Dad, I need to tell you something. Well, I don’t know how to say it. It’s something I found out about myself. I think I will just show you. But before that, I want you to know that I am still the Veronica you knew; I am still your daughter,” Veronica said in one breath. Hendrik and Livia were staring at her with a confused gaze.
Veronica stood up and walked a safe distance. She knew she couldn’t shift into her Lycan form; it would freak them out. Well, shifting into either form will freak them out, but Liana can be scarier. Better start off with Freya. She closed her eyes, and soon two golden wings came out of her back. She snapped her golden eyes open as soon as Livia’s scream reached her ears.
