I am a Vampire

Edwin POV Warmth is what I felt when she hid her face in my chest. She is the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen. And she is mine. “Eddy?” her soft voice broke my trance. Our eyes met as I lowered my gaze and gave her a genuine smile. “Don’t hide anything from me from now on,” she said sternly, and I stiffened. I don’t want to hide anything from her, but how will I tell her my identity? As if sensing my uneasiness, she sat up, and I did the same, facing her. “Is there anything you want to tell me?” her voice hardened with each word she uttered. “Little fairy. I… I…” I tried to talk, but nothing came out. I have never felt this nervous in my entire life. If she doesn’t want anything to do with me after knowing my identity? Should I ask for a bit of time from her? But knowing her, she might leave again… she might stop talking to me again. And it’s enough torture for once in a lifetime, which I have already received. “Fine! Don’t say,” she was about to get out of bed when I grabbed her wrist and blurt out, inhaling deeply. “I am a vampire,” she gave me a look as if telling me, ‘Are you f*****g kidding’ before she could say that out loud, I spoke up, “And no. I am not kidding.” “Prove it,” she stated. Her voice was devoid of any emotion. No…no…no. I can’t; what if she is afraid of me? I can’t look at her scared face. I can’t bear the fact that she is afraid of me. For the first time, I wished I were a normal human, not a blood-sucking monster. “Prove. It,” she uttered when she didn’t get any response. Sighing, I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, I was sure they were glowing red. My fangs extended, my nails grew longer. I showed her… I showed her the monstrous creature within me, and now she will hate me. I closed my eyes to retreat back to normal. I expected her to be afraid of me, but no, she wasn’t. She was there, sitting beside me, unfazed. I stared at her wanting to see her reaction, but I got nothing. Her eyes were blank, just like her mind. Sighing, I started telling her, “Vampires are gifted with a fated mate by the BloodGoddess. But it’s so rare to find one. So, over the centuries, they started to choose their mate, ignoring the concept of a fated mate. I felt I would find mine, so I waited for centuries, but my father didn’t like the fact. He gave me 100 years. If I didn’t find my true mate, I had to choose and mate with another female. I had only one year left when I finally found her. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever met,” I said dreamingly and glanced at her, and this time her eyes weren’t blank. It was full of anger. Is she angry at me? I raised my hand to touch her face. “And I am glad it’s you,” I said with a smile. Her anger turned into shock. She blinked a few times to comprehend my words. “Me?” she softly whispered, and I nodded, giving her a small smile and caressing her face. Her eyes softened. “You. My soulmate. Now it’s your decision if you want to accept me or reject me,” my guts tightened, thinking about the pain of losing her. “How… how did you guys do that?” she asked, unsure what she was asking. “How to accept or reject a mate?” she nodded. I explained to her the process. “What will happen if I reject you?” my cold-blooded heart seemed to stop at her question. On second thought, she deserves more than me. She will have a normal, carefree life like any other ordinary person without worrying about anything. “Nothing. You will have a wonderful life with someone who will love you more than himself,” I answered her with a smile. “And what about you?” I shrugged. “Don’t worry about me. I am lucky that I met you; that the Blood Goddess allowed me to hold you, cherish you, and adore you. I am satisfied that the last gift she gave me is so wonderful,” I stared at her with a longing gaze. Maybe it was the last time I was able to see her, hold her, adore her. But it’s her decision, and I will accept it with all my will. “Me, Veronica Smith, daughter of Hendrik Smith…” my heart squeezed tightly. I lowered my head, closing my eyes, trying to reduce rejection’s pain a bit, if possible. “…accept you, Edwin William Roberts, son of Emanuel Roberts, as my mate,” as she finished, I snapped my head up hearing the word accept. “Y…you acc… accept m… me?” I uttered, tears streaming down my face. She wept my tears softly. “Why?” my voice came out in a whisper. “Why not?” she raised her brow at me with her heart-warming smile. I can’t believe she accepts me… she accepts me as her soulmate. I couldn’t help but pull her into a bone-cracking hug. But she didn’t complain; instead, she wrapped her small hand around me. It seemed like hours passed when she spoke up. “Eddy.” I hummed. “Why did you say ‘last gift’? What would have happened if I had rejected you?” she asked. Her eyes filled with concern. I lowered my gaze, not wanting to answer her, but she was adamant, so I gave in. “I would have died,” her eyes widened at my confession. She shook her head and mouthed, ‘No, you are kidding.’ I gave her a small smile. “It’s a perk of being a royal.” “Royal?” I nodded. “My father, Emmanuel Roberts, is the king of the vampire kingdom, former master of the greatest blood-throne coven. He is royalty, and as his son, so am I,” she blinked her eyes several times to comprehend my words. She looked cute when she was confused or shocked. Caressing her face, I continued, “When a royal Vampire finds his mate and falls in love with her, but if his mate doesn’t have any feelings for him and she rejects him, it would break his heart. And the ache of the heartbreak is so severe that it would eventually cause him death. And I fell in love with my mate. So, I might…” I paused when I saw her eyes were filled with unshed tears. “Why didn’t you tell me? Cause you are afraid that I will reject you?” she asked. I shook my head. “I didn’t want you to feel pressured, and I just wanted to spend a little more time with you,” I shrugged, giving her a small smile. She slapped my arm. “What if I had said something stupid? What if you…” her tears started to fall. Damn it! It hurts more when she cries. I pulled her into my chest and caressed her head. “Shush, don’t cry, little one. Look, I am still alive. And I might not have died,” I tried to console her. “You said it yourself,” she argued. “I said if you hadn’t any feelings for me, but you do have feelings for me, haven’t you?” I reasoned. “Who said I have!” she shouted at me. I tried so hard to control my laughing. “Ok, ok. I trust you on that,” I surrendered, smiling ear to ear. She sniffed, and I pecked on her lips when she pouted. “Did you… did you mean it?” I crooked my brows in confusion. “When you said you fell in love with your mate?” I smiled. “Yes. I mean it. I fell in love with you the first time I met you. I have started to love you more with every passing moment. I love your dark brown eyes. I love your red nose when you cry or you are angry. I love the pout forming on your pink lips when you are mad. The only thing I hate about you is your tears. I would rather die than see you crying,” I kissed her tears away, which started to fall again. I kissed her nose, her cheek, her jawline and nuzzled her neck. “Should we start from where we stopped before?” I suggested, as she moaned. “You are such a tease!” she muttered under her breath. I grabbed her waist, laid her down on the bed, and hovered on top of her, pinning her hand over her head. I kissed her senselessly. I lowered my head on her neck and started licking and sucking the spot I would mark her one day. Damn! I am losing control. The sound of her moaning and the scent of her intoxicating blood overpowered my self-control. I can feel her veins. Fresh blood was running through the arteries of her neck. My lips dried; I was thirsty… for her blood. I need her blood right now. My fangs extended, and it was about to sink into her neck when the doorbell broke my trance. “f**k!” I cursed under my breath. I could have hurt her. I took a few deep breaths, and my fangs retracted. I raised my head from her neck. She looked at me confusingly. I gave her a small smile. “Let me check on the door,” giving her a peck on her forehead, I went outside. From my enhanced sense, I know who is outside the door—my idiotic best friend who saved my ass today. The bell started to ring continuously. I sighed; This fucker won’t behave ever! When I opened the door, Sam and Isabella were standing there. Isabella was on the edge of crying. “Where is Vicky?” she asked as soon as I came into her sight. “Unnie!” Veronica’s soft voice came behind me before I could answer. Isabella ran inside and hugged Veronica. “How are you? You know I have been calling you since yesterday. Why didn’t you answer my calls? Are you hurt?” Isabella fired her questions at Veronica. I let them be and turned to my stupid best friend, who was grinning all the time. Bastard! “Did you enjoy the night? I can still smell her arousal for you,” Sam commented with a smirk. I elbowed him. “Ouch,” he groaned, holding his stomach. “It hurts you, bastard!” he cursed under his breath. “You deserve it, fucker,” I left Sam and went to my sweet mate, who was busy convincing Isabella that she was completely fine. Sam came inside and stood beside me. “See, Bella, your sister is absolutely alright. Didn’t I tell you Edd would protect her with his life,” he assured her smilingly. “Wait a second. Who gave you the right to call me Bella!!” Isabella shouted at him. “Didn’t I call you that since yesterday? And I gave myself the right,” he said, as if proud of himself. “Who the hell are you? Well, I didn’t notice it as I was concerned about her. So you aren’t allowed to call me anything other than my name,” she warned him, standing up from the couch and going to him. “Well, I am allowed to call you anything, whatever I like. And it’s my birthright,” my stupid best friend smugly retorted—bloody i***t. I went to Veronica, who was staring at them with wide eyes. “Don’t you think we should stop them?” she asked, pointing in their direction. “Nah. We shouldn’t step between mate’s personal matters,” I replied with a grin. Her jaw nearly dropped on the floor. “Are they...” she stopped at the middle sentence and saw their bickering. And looked at me again. I nodded. She looks cute when she is shocked or surprised. “Did Unnie...” I cut her off with a peck. And the peck became another mouth-watering kiss. She tasted so delicious that I couldn’t stop myself from devouring her.
