Buisness?Love? Or Both ?

ALEC I'm Alec Corvette. I own the biggest chain of hotels, restaurants, resorts and clubs in all of East Coast in USA .I've worked by ass off to get where I am now I'm 29 by the way in case you're wondering . My grandfather owns the Corvette group of industries. I have no interest in taking over his company . I will gladly leave that my sister .I have my own company in an area I am actually good at . My grandfather as you can guess was against it at first .but my sister showed him that she'll be a way better CEO for the company than me . so he agreed to it . I am currently on my way to see my Lawyer .his associate called this morning to say that there's something important he wants to talk to me about . I'll have to make it quick as my best friend is gonna propose to my sister and he wants me and his sister to come over afterwards.His sister ..Kate ..I haven't seen her since eight years ago the night everything went to s**t for her and i wasn't there . I've tried to talk to her since but she's always avoided me and then and if she can't she's always neen distant . everything changed and i really wanted it to go back to way it was . "sir we're here "my driver Charlie says . "thanks Charlie be neat by I'll call you as soon as I'm done " "Yes sir " i nod and get and head in . as soon as I get off the elevator i see Donna .the firm's COO " hey sweetheart miss me ?" i ask "yes I've been dyning to see you " "you're serious far too early " "because you should be " "why ?" "tor grandfather is here " "why ?" "don't know but don't keep him waiting " i nod and start to walk away but then turn around and ask " and you were waiting here to tell me not to piss my grandfather off " "no sweetheart. I was waiting for the elevator and you came in so I figured might as well save of your ass " she winks at me and gets on the elevator .i sigh of course and head to Harvey -my Lawyer 's office "hi grandpa what are you doing here ?" " i called you here to tell you something " "I'm all ears "I say sitting down "as you very well know you're turning 30 in ten weeks " "yes " i reply not really getting where this was going " when you started the your company you signed a contract .it says if you're not married by your 30 th birthday all of your hotels and clubs revert back to your grandfather. " Harvey says "what ?! why didn't you tell me before ?" I yell at him "it was there in the agreement -"he starts but is cut off of by my grandfather "because I thought you'd be married by now but since you aren't i am invoking the clause " I start to say something when he talks "you can't do anything about it you signed it " "so you expect me to get married within ten weeks ?!" i ask "yes " he says just as my phone rings and I am shocked to see Kate's name flash on it "i have to take this " i day and go out " hello ? " " where are you ?" she half yells into the phone "Kate I think yo-" "I know i haven't called you in a long time but I really need you here " " what happened ?" "Amy and Liam had a fight it's bad he was gonna propose and now he might not you need to help me " she says the last time she needed my help i wasn't there and i promised myself I won't let it happen again "I'll be there " I say and hang up i I tell my grandfather I have to leave and and get to their apartment as soon as possible and find her out side talking to someone on the phone . "I know Adriana " she snaps and hags up when she sees me " Everything alright ?" "Just work " she says " so what do we do ?" i ask "I knock some sense into my i***t of a brother and you do the same to your sister " she says " i don't think she'll appreciate being called an i***t " she glares at me and I raise my arms in mock surrender "let's go " she says and we walk in and the sight we see shocks me Firstly because I didn't expect to seey sister kissing my best friend Secondly they are supposed to be fighting I clear my throat to get their attention but fail to do so . Kate looks at me and rolls her eyes and takes a champagne flute from the nearby shelf and throws it at the wall behind them . they break apart instantly and she looks at me and grins and says "that's how you do it " and for the he second time today I felt as things we were still the same we were 8 years ago . "good to know "i reply "ohh it worked they're here " Amy says "what worked ?" both Kate and I asked at the same time "our plan " Liam replies "What plan ?" I ask "oh you know the plan where we pretend to be broken up so my sister would put aside her gigantic ego and call you and you would finally get over yourself and come here together " "gigantic ego ? I'm not the one who's avoiding the people i grew up with its the other way around " Kate says "I'm not -" i start but am cut off my sister "yes you are, you two are idiots who fight and then make up it's been like that since you were kids . look i don't know what happened this but this has gone on long enough " " you're right " Kate says surprising all of us " What ?" i say turning to look at her " well she's right I'm sorry for letting be an asshole " " letting me be a asshole " I ask "Yeah " " fine then I'm sorry for being an asshole " I say and she grins at me " well you can't change who you are right i mean you were an asshole from birth -" but I don't let her finish instead I hug her and say " sorry ,love you " at first she's frozen before she wraps her arms around my waist and says" love you too i***t " we stay like that for a while .and just having her here like this is bringing back all the feelings i had for her . I think they were never really gone . " okay not that I am not happy about you two and want to celebrate you two getting off your high horses but we something big to celebrate like oh i don't know my engagement " my sister says and we Break apart with a laugh " finally I was getting angry on my brother for waiting so long " Kate says hugs Amy . I walk over to Liam and hug him too . I pat his back and say " congratulations bro I'm happy for you " KATE I'm Katharine Cox .though I prefer Kate I'm 26 years old .well 27 in two weeks .My father is the owner of the Cox industries .I personally have no interest in the buisness.my father and brother Liam are more than fine taking care of it . some would say well actually everyone would say that I'm the only one in the family who has a creative soul in the family.I take after my grandmother . maternal of course .she was a fashion designer.she even started her own company .Greene Fashions .she built it all on her own she ran it till the day she died .I still remember the day she died vividly .two days before my 18 th birthday .she was designing my birthday dress .we were gonna have this hude party . one second she was showing me the dress she made and she asked me to get her the ribbon from the other room and the next she was lying on the floor ...dead ... Anyway guess what happened after she died yepp my dad and mom had a court battle on who owns her company . yeah you got it right of course my dad won .the rich white guy always wins .he doesn't care about it though he just did to hurt my mom .And he succeeded because she just disappeared with the occasional postcards and letters about how her boyfriends are way better than dad ..just ..ugh .. after she died I worked very hard graduated fashion school a bought a publishing house because of a fiasco with the press . But devoloped it it's now the best in New York . the company also owned a clothing line which I also developed but now it's not doing that well .but never fear i have a plan . I heard my father's looking for a new ceo for grandma's company I'm gonna propose myself as the best candidate and when he hands over the company to my I'll combine it with my existing brand with Greene Fashions and expand overseas in year or two .And because I was busy with all of this my brother and his fiancee pulled one over me . anyway it was nice seeing him again .after all these years .and now we're sitting on the couch having wine and just having fun like old times .my brother gets up and says "I have an early morning I'm going to bed " "me too " says Amy and they're gone "Isn't it supposed to be the other way around ? " Alec says once they're gone "yeah they're not very subtle" he clears his throat " Katie I -" "look Alec my grandmother died my mother disappeared everything went to s**t so I probably didn't make the best decisions okay? but whatever it's in the past " he looks at with an unreadable expression and then nods .His phone buzzes and he rejects the call . Twice . " Everything okay ?" " yeah " "Alec we may have not spoken for 8 years but I still know you , what's wrong ?" " my grandfather " " what now ? " " Well when I started my company apparently I signed a contract that says if I'm not married by the time I'm 30 i lose everything to him " " What ?! " "yeah " " That was not what I expected " " Neither did I " he says " Well talk your lawyer there's gotta be a way around it and if there isn't then there's always a judge you can bribe " I joke " Ah! The great American justice system " he says with a laugh " It's good to see you smile " that just slipped out . I don't know why . ughh! maybe it's the wine . It's the wine . " you look great when you smile too " he says and I'm aware that I'm super blushing..he reaches over and tucks a strand of my hair behind my ear and leans in so close to me that I can feel his breath on my face . It's sweet but also kinda minty . It's oddly calming. he leans even closer and and I do too .Our lips touch the slightest bit and my phone rings and we both snap out of the trance we were in. I clear my throat and look at the caller ID of f*****g course .I'd been calling my dad all day and calls me now ,of all times ! " It's my dad " I say softly " you should probably answer ." he says softly . " yeah " i say and answer it . it's just him calling to say sorry for not answering all day .and would want to meet tomorrow . I tell him I'll come Meet him tomorrow and go back in to find Alec still in the same place . " I should get going " I say " yeah me too " he says. I say goodbye and turn to leave when I hear him whisper my name . " Katie...." It was barely audible .I don't know how I heard it .But I did . "yeah ?" " would you... uhmm " was he blushing . No! its the wine has to be right ? " Just spit it out Alec " " Would you like to go out with me like for dinner or drinks " " yeah sure I'll call you tomorrow " " yeah " he says I go over and hug him and say good night and go home .
