CHAPTER FIVE: SOMETHING PRECIOUS YET UNKNOWN

LUCIEN POV
It was always her hair,her luscious long wavy hair that cascaded down her back I saw as she held onto my right hand, dragging me deeper into the garden,her smile.I had heard it a thousand times by now,it wasn't new but it had a distinct yet nostalgic way it made me feel, like it was too good to be true,her back was always turned to me,but I could tell she was beautiful,I stopped suddenly unable to help myself as she also stopped too,I had to see her face this time,maybe if I reached further,just a little further, she would turn to face me.
LUCIEN !!! a sharp voice called.
No,I couldn't let go now,not when I was so close to seeing her face… I needed to know who she was.
Lucien,Lucien,wake up. I jolted awake to see Logan by my side, giving me the same sorry look he always has on his face.I should be used to it but for some reason I get pissed off by his pity.
“How long have you been here?” I asked, my voice colder than I intended it to be,but Logan doesn't mind,he is in fact used to my attitude which is why he is the only person I believe to be my friend.
“Not too long,I just arrived”. We had a moment of silence before the dreaded question arrived “ still the same dream”.
By now he knew my silence meant yes,I got up from the bed and proceeded to wear my jacket while Logan leaned back into the chair, watching me as I did so.
“What” I asked,unable to bear his gaze on me.
“You know what” Logan replied.
“Is this about the girl again,I told you once before,as soon as she is treated and back on her feet,I want her gone,we have no space for rogues here and you know it,besides the council members would be against it so why bother,I don't want to look weak before any of those old fuckers”.
Logan scratched his hair,a behavior I have recently come to realize as a habit whenever Logan is confused “ You should meet her,just once and if you still feel this way afterward then she is gone,no arguments,I would agree to whatever you say”.
“Nothing she says or does would change my mind,I cannot afford to make any mistakes” I said as I left my room heading towards the council room while Logan followed me
“Just meet her first then you can decide on the rest,okay”
I sighed, raising my hands up in defeat “Alright,where is she”
“In the clinic getting treated,I would tell the council members you would be a bit late while you go and meet her”.
I went straight to the clinic,this wasn't the first time we found Rogues by the riverside but the was the first one that ever survived,there have been more attacks on rogues recently than normal, something about the Hollow moon alpha trying to avenge his father's death but it has been causing a lot of hassle for me cause we end up finding the bodies of the rogues and I have certainly had enough of that.
I walked into the Clinic to see Katerina in her usual lab coat making some arrangements inside her upper cabinet without noticing me.
“Hhhhmmmmm”I coughed aloud,alerting her of my presence,which startled her as a bit of blush crept on her cheeks,which I have found to be normal whenever I am in a room with a lady.
“Al.. Alpha Lucien,you are here” She looked a bit nervous but quickly masked it with a smile.
“Of course you are here,how may I be of help to you”. Her voice came out a bit shaky than I am sure she intended it to be.
I didn't have the time for small talk or the energy to play nice,not now when I was supposed to be at the council meeting ten minutes ago and those old men knew how to manipulate any situation to their advantage,I didn't want to give them that satisfaction. “ The girl,where is she?”.
“Oh,she is in the private room next to”. I walked off without hearing the rest.
I opened the door and was met with the most beautiful red hair I had ever seen,granted she was asleep but it was obvious that she was a beauty, could she be the one? The lady I always longed to see in my dream or was this all a game to the moon goddess. Damn it!!! this was what Logan meant when he said I should check her out,I couldn't resist the urge to touch her cheeks lightly which stirred her up a bit but not enough to wake her,now I was even more confused on what to do,she cannot get entangled with the likes of a messed up person like me.
Her captivating red hair made me even more wary,I could smell her and so could my wolf,that feeling,I knew instantly that she was my mat…,No I couldn't afford to get distracted by some rogue only to get caught up in some sick twisted plans the moon goddess had for me.
I turned back to leave only to stumble on the chair next to her.I tried to avoid falling flat by using the nightstand next to her for support which ended up waking her up.
She looked at around nervously for some few seconds till it registered that she was in a safe place I repositioned myself so I was standing in front of her, we both stared at each other in silence for some seconds
“You are the Alpha of this pack right?”.
I looked at the bold young woman in front of me,there was no blush on her cheeks or any sign of intimidation on her face,just her plain serious face with a desire for knowledge.
“Yes,I am the alpha of this pack which you would be leaving as soon as you recover from your injuries,it would be unfair to make any false promises to you and I do not intend to house a rogue”. Simple,concise and easy.
“I have a way we can be of mutual help to one another”. She blurted out quickly, stopping me midway. This had me intrigued,what could this young rogue possibly have that I needed,I felt the urge to laugh but held it back before facing her.
“Well, let's hear it,how can you be of use to me,I am intrigued as to what you could possibly have that I need”.
“I would become your Luna”
For a moment I was dumbfounded,did she really just say she would become my Luna like she was doing me a favor.
“And,why would you think for a second I want the likes of you as my Luna,you have no wealth,power or authority,you can barely even stand on your own right now,I don't need a weak girl who cannot defend herself as a luna so No!!! I reject your offer”.
“But you need someone who wouldn't get attached right,you want someone who could care less about feeling but knows her priorities and her roles to play as a Luna,I am well versed with that and as for defending myself,you wouldn't need to do that I am stronger than you think,just give me a chance to prove my worth”.
She was right,I didn't need some woman with a romance filled notion of love who expects love from me,I needed someone smart which she was but still the people would never accept a rogue as their Luna.
“My council members would disapprove”
“You are the Alpha,you would make it work” she replied boldly.
“Being married to an Alpha isn't the love story you have in your head,the reality of being married to the likes of me is torture,you need to know what you are getting yourself into”.
“It cannot be worse than what I have been through and do not be afraid I would fall for you,that would never happen”.
“Fine,if you so badly want to be a Luna,you have got yourself the position of a Luna. Welcome to the shadow Crescent pack”. I stared at her realizing I didn't even know her name but before I
could ask I heard her voice.
“Davina,my name is Davina,and you are?”.
“Lucien”.
