CHAPTER FOUR : THE WILL TO SURVIVE

DAVINA'S POV
I woke up to the sound of the door getting shut, my eyes wandered around,it was clear that I was in a room getting treated by someone, but who? I had no idea where this was,we had no rooms like this at our pack, everywhere seemed more luxurious compared to the Hollow moon pack where I was from.I knew immediately I was in another territory,I was about to stand up when I saw my hands were attached to a blood bag, but for some reason it felt hard to stand.
“ Finally, you are awake” a voice said, startling me.I looked forward to seeing the stranger by the door heading towards me. He had soft blond curly hair with brown eyes that had a nice contrast.If we had met under different circumstances,I would have introduced him to Eloise,he was more of her type. My mind went to Eloise and Asher and what they must be doing right now, probably laughing over my funeral.
A wave of hand pulled me from my thoughts,I turned to face the handsome blond who had a small smile on his face “ You were out for a minute,I thought you had a stroke”.
“I am sorry,I am just confused. Where am I ?”
“My bad,I should have led with that, you are in the shadow Crescent pack and my name is Logan”. He said, stretching his hand forward.
I shook his hands which were surprisingly soft for a guy's hand “ My name is Davina”.
“So you do remember something,the doctor said you hit your head on a rock so you might have a hard time remembering who you are but it is good to see your memory is still intact,is that all you remember,your name?”. He looked at me with a face full of curiosity.
I couldn't tell the handsome stranger that I was once a Luna or what had happened to me in my pack so I opted for the second option,I lied.
“ I have been a rogue all my life”.
“That would definitely explain a lot about the state I found you”.
“How did you find me?”
“By the river, face down,I thought you were dead but you had a strong will to survive”.
“Thank you, for not giving up on me” I said, holding his hand tightly in assurance as he smiled and patted my hands “ You are welcome,I should let you rest now,it seems you still need that a lot”.
He stood up and was about to leave when I suddenly remembered an important question “Are you the alpha of this pack ?”
“Oh,that,No I am not,the Alpha is nothing like me”he leaned towards my ears and whispered “He is a total asshole” and smiled before raising his head back “ He is probably getting grilled by the council about his inability to get a wife.”
“Do not tell him I said that”.
“Said what?”
“That he is an ……..” he got the joke and smirked as I gave him a little smile back in return. “ It would be our little secret,” he said,winking at me before turning to leave.
I laid back down on the bed and drifted back to sleep. The next time I was awake,I saw a woman in a lab coat injecting a serum into my veins.By now the blood bag had been replaced with an IV which she adjusted. She looked up to see I was awake and gave me a simple warm smile.
“It is good to see you are finally awake,I just gave you something for your back” I looked at her confused,I didn't feel any pain in my back,she must have read my face because she gave me a small smile then looked directly at me.
“You look confused. The bullet almost grazed your spine, but luckily. we were able to get it out before doing any severe damage, however it did hit a rib but we have been having you treated for that,you may feel nothing lying down but if you try to stand you would feel an intense level of pain so for now I advise resting as much as possible and when you have regained your strength,your body may be able to handle movement and other normal activities,and I am sorry about the baby”.
“What” I asked the doctor, “what baby”.
She had a guilty look on her face “You had no idea,you were pregnant,four months pregnant,how couldn't you have noticed”.
“I had no idea” I said shakily, placing my hands on my belly, it was another thing I had to lose because of Eloise,I hadn't even been aware of my baby because I was trying not to get killed.I doubt it would have made any difference if Asher knew,his mind was made up to have me killed,a baby wouldn't have changed that.
I looked at the doctor who had an unreadable expression on her face and asked “What gender was it”.
“It was too early to determine the fetus' gender.I am really sorry about that,it was better left unsaid but I thought you knew”.
“No,I want to know,thank you for telling me.I have just been in such a bad place in my life,I had no idea a baby was growing in me”.
“Do you want to talk about it?”.
“It makes no difference.Saying anything now,it won't change the past”.
“Well you are safe here, although our Alpha might be a bit of a” she paused, probably looking for the right word to use to explain him.
“A douche” I said, finishing her sentence, which made her laugh.
“What I was going to say was hardass, but between you and me,yeah a douche,but he would never treat any member of his pack with disdain,so you are safe”.
“Thanks for being so nice to me, everyone I have met so far has been so nice,it makes me want to stay”.
She took my IV hand to check for proper flow then replied “ I absolutely would love that too,you seem like a nice person that needs a fresh start and It would be nice if it were just up to our Alpha to make these decisions but those old, cunniving assholes also known as the council members who have refused to give up their position just because they feel they have some authority would be against it,they always have something against anyone wanting to join their pack”.
My face fell which she noticed and said “ Do not give them the satisfaction of seeing you fall,make sure you have a legitimate reason for wanting to stay and maybe,just maybe our Alpha would fight for you.”
“Do you really think it can work in my favor?”
“Yes,I do,I would tell the Alpha's best friend you asked for a meeting with Alpha and leave the rest to you,okay?”.
“Thank you,that is all I need.I never got your name”.
“Katerina, I am an omega in the shadow crescent pack and a doctor obviously” she said with a shy smile “and yours?”
“Davina. Thank you so much Katerina”
“Do not mention Davina,now get some rest,it might be a while before the Alpha request to meet you so do not fret”.
I nod my head in response while she smiled and tapped my shoulder before leaving.
As soon as she left, a lot of thought invaded my head.I had a baby I knew nothing about. He or she must have suffered,that brought tears to my eyes and I cried.I cried for so long I had no idea when I fell asleep from being too tired but one thing i remembered and kept repeating in my head was my promise to exact my revenge on Eloise and Asher.
