Hey Mali Pixels
Meagan's POV
Clinchy! The shutter sound of my DSLR camera alerts everyone that I just took another photo. I was at a beach-like place along the mighty Victoria Falls in Livingstone, Zambia. The skies were perfect for a photoshoot. The clouds were in a pattern that put a smile on every outdoor photographer's face. Slightly thick clouds covered us and softened the rays of sunlight... It felt like nature was helping me capture the moment.
I peek through my camera's viewfinder to take an intuitive shot, "Wow, they look beautiful together" I whispered to myself admiring the couple I am capturing at a wedding. I couldn't take my eyes off the camera, it felt like I was watching Romeo and Juliet in Virtual Reality glasses.
I have captured quiet a number of weddings and I have been invited to a lot of weddings but this one just feels different, it feels so inspiring, I don't know what is really giving it that inspirational feeling.
The Bride is in her mid 20s and the bridegroom is in his late 20s, they look young beautiful and confident in marriage just like most weddings nowadays.
I was going to say, this wedding feels inspiring cause of the couple's age, but still their age range is actually the recommended age for couples to get married nowadays.
"I love you with more than my eyes, I can't see who I can cheat on you with. I fell for your heart and I'll still love you even when your face gets wrinkled in old age. Your luminous smile always brightens my day, piecing through my eclipse of worries. I ....." Royd said his vows with romantic gestures accompanying them.
I should say I love how they are saying their wedding vows, they sound so real and passionate. I switch my camera to live mode so I can see them through the screen and enjoy every moment.
Each time I see such moments, it only encourages me to love my Oscar more. I always start thinking of the day I'll be this happy with my family and friends enjoying the moment. Oscar and I exchanging our wedding vows. Just the thought of getting married got me smiling and feeling a bit nervous like am at the altar.
I snap out of my fantasies as I lower my camera to get a better view of the whole scene before I change my position. I see a good spot, its close to the bride's family the Jere's. I quickly get to the spot in no time. In a short while I took three good photos, "this position has a good view of the couple" I said to myself after previewing the photos I took in it.
I press the shutter button as the priest declares them Mr and Mrs Chisenga, the picture is perfect, the precious moment is captured and the crowd goes wild celebrating the declaration as the bridegroom kissed the bride.
Everyone was on their feet, clapping their hands, blowing whistles while others shouting joyfully, nearly all the youths were dancing, and the couple's parents were still struggling with their bodies, bones, and age to dance like the youths were dancing but I could tell their inner beings were rocking the dance.
Just a few minutes after the marriage blessing was declared the people were shortly dismissed to go prepare for the wedding celebration. I keep tailing the couple as it leaves, I am capturing every single moment. Shortly we are at the couple's car doing some quick reminders on the orientation of the wedding celebration.
I leave the couple's car to go get my stuff and have a short talk with my assistants before leaving. Shortly I was done talking to my assistants, am about to leave the wedding site on my way going to the exit then I heard something like someone is calling my name. I ignore it waiting for the second call to confirm the call.
"Hey Mali pixels"
I heard a male voice calling me again, this time he called by my high school nickname, which made me stop to see who is calling me, its been years since someone called me by that name even my Oscar never uses it.
As I turn to see who it is, my mind tried to think of the people that could call me by that name. I couldn't believe my eyes, my first love is standing in front of me looking all tall, muscular and handsome just like I wanted him to be when we were young.
He smiles back happy to see me again after such a long time. He wraps me in his arms like a lonely man hugging a pillow in the middle of a cold night. I was still lost in my thoughts feeling a little bit nauseous failing to digest the emotions flowing inside me. Am sure he could hear my heart racing as I heard him whisper to my ears
"I missed you so much Mali".
I closed my eyes hugged him tighter to take it all in, just when it felt so warm and comfy. He ends the hug after hearing a clearing throat behind him, leaving me longing for more.
Still I couldn't help it putting on a big smile. I wore the smile until I noticed the jealous look on from the beautiful lady besides Mike. I instantly sensed it, she must be Mike's partner.
He confirms it as he introduced us to each other. "Nice to meet you, Mercy" I stretched out my hand for a shake.
"Nice to finally meet you Meagan, Mike has told me a lot about you" Mercy replied shaking my hand.
"Awwr, that's so sweet of him" I say while giving a silly expression trying to make it sound trivial though am still curious what Mike said about me.
"So what were you doing here Mike?" I just had to ask, it has to be a huge coincidence that my ex decided to show his face at the weirdly inspiring wedding where I happen to be the one capturing.
"I came to support my cousin Royd, I was among the bridegroom's family. Didn't you see me when capturing the Chisenga family?"
"Mmm nah am not sure, I was so focused on the couple and I often let my assistance capture the couple's families, besides that's what they're here for." I let out a sigh in my mind as I was speaking.
At least he had a good reason for being here I was about to start thinking maybe his my fated mate, you know how it happens in the werewolf tales.
"I hope your assistants did a good job, cause if they make me look funny, you'll be owing me a free photoshoot, just you and I" he says with a serious facial expression while getting close to me.
Which got me nervous a bit especially the hard stare from Mercy that made me swallow some saliva before saying a word. "That's not a problem you'll have your session, on that condition" I replied trying to be as professional as I can.
Mercy fixes the awkward moment by changing the topic
"So Meagan, where are you going from here?"
"Oh yeah am going home to move these pics on the computer to make some space for the wedding celebration" I reply while giving an I have to get going gesture.
Mike offers me a lift, I tried to protest but he insists, after a short while we were in his car on our way to my apartment.
Mike drops me by the front yard of my apartment. "Thanks for the ride, and see you at the celebration" I say while waving to Mike as he starts the car.
"Oh and thanks for the groceries as well" I shout when the car was a couple of meters away accelerating, I know he probably won't hear me but at least I said thanks, so you don't say I am ungrateful. I carry the groceries walking to my apartment door. Neighbors staring at me with mixed expressions of suspicion and jealousy.
