I had the same nightmare again. I was running and I knew who I was running from but I couldn't see his face. I was sweating and my heart was beating so fast. I woke up and wanted to scream but I looked over to see Christian still asleep. I swept his curls back and kissed his forehead.
"Don't disappoint me, my love, I can't take that a second time," I whispered. I tried to fall back to sleep. It was pointless so I decided to take a walk. I was standing in front of the motel and staring at the night sky. I didn't know if it was because I was a creature of the night but the moon and the stars always made me feel at peace. I suddenly felt a presence watching me.
"I know your there," I said.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't want to disturb you, you looked so innocent watching the stars," Lincoln said.
"What do you want," I said.
"YOU," he said.
"If you're looking for a fight, you will lose," I said.
"No doubt, but I don't want to fight. I need you, your unique and powerful," he said.
"You sound just like your spawn," I said.
"Jessica, yes she was one-sided in her rise to power but I have a much bigger picture in my sight," he said.
"You do this to get revenge and become the master of the very creatures that took everything from you," I said.
"Shut up, you know nothing. I do this because I deserve it and I am more powerful than vampires ever gave me credit for," he said.
"No vampire took you in because they knew you were dead weight and you lied to a stupid she-wolf and told her you were powerful so she would help you on your quest for revenge," I said. He stepped closer to me and told me to shut up again. I could see I was making him angry but that was the plan.
"You have no idea how to use the powers of a lycan properly and the energy you consumed will only destroy you in the long run," I said.
"Your wrong, I am strong, I can handle it," he said.
"Prove it," I said. I lunged at him and tried to attack him. He just moved back unwilling to strike me.
"Are you scared?" I said. He didn't answer but was getting angrier. Lighting sparks were coming out of his hands but he couldn't control it enough to make a full energy ball. I kicked him in the stomach and he landed on his ass. He quickly got up and ran towards me but by now everyone heard us and Christian stopped him with one hand.
"Not today buddy," Christian said. He punched Lincoln in the face but it barely caused any damage.
"You're going to pay for that," Lincoln said. Christian quickly shifted and Lincoln ran away. Christian chased after him but it was no use. Christian came back and shifted back. He went to go get dressed and quickly received a phone call from Liam.
"Any word from Cole," Christian said.
"No, but alpha, we need you to come quickly. We are under attack," he said. Christian quickly shifted and ran home while I drove my car back to his territory. Once we got there I noticed some of his men died at the border. I drove to the packhouse and it was on fire. Most of his men were trying to stop the fire but it was too late. I ran to Karin and comforted her.
"Are you okay," I asked.
"Why," is all she said.
"Don't worry," I told her. I held her in my arms until the fire went out. Most of the other homes on the land were burnt down as well. Fifteen of Christian's men had died tonight. Christian hardly spoke as he began to bury his men. I helped and so did everyone else that lived that night. He walked off on his own once we were done. I stayed behind to make sure everyone was okay. Thirty minutes had gone by and he still hadn't returned so I went to go look for him. I finally found him near a small garden. I noticed two gravestones in the center.
"My parents," he said softly.
"I'm sorry," I said.
"Everything I did, this is all my fault," he said.
"No, it's not, I said back. "You made some wrong choices but this is not your fault and we will avenge your fallen men."
"I don't know where all this went wrong but I didn't mean for it to go this far," he said.
"I know, I know, don't blame yourself," I told him. "Please, let's go back, your men need you." I grabbed his hand and led him back to the group.
"I wish you could have met them," he said.
"I know, I wish you could have met my father too, he was very wise," I said. Christian smiled just a bit and as soon as we reached his pack you could see the pain in their eyes.
"Hope is not lost, we will find Lincoln and stop him. We will rebuild and avenge those who fought bravely tonight. We will remain strong and fight," I said. Christian looked surprised but pleased at my little speech.
"They needed that," Christian whispered to me. "Their luna," I told Christian we could take them to Henry's place for now. There wasn't that much room there but still, it was better than staying outside. I know they could just shift and sleep outside but they were tired and drained mentally. I told Henry to stay with Marius and his coven. That would make the pack feel better. The last thing they needed was a vampire to place all their hatred towards. I don't think anyone really slept that night.
The next morning, everyone seemed to still be in mourning. I know it was to be expected but I need warriors and for them to be prepared to hunt down Lincoln. I called Henry and told him what happened. I told him to prepare the covens and we would hunt down Lincoln tonight. Lizzie reached out and got the last known sighting of a few of his followers. As soon as the sun went down we headed out. We were ready to fight and end this tonight. We met up with Marius's coven and Darien's coven, Henry, and the wolves. We found a few of Lincoln's men exactly where Lizzie said we would.
"Where is he?" I asked the pair of vampires.
"Who?" they said jokingly.
"No matter, he will get the message," I said. We killed them easy enough and followed their scent to where they came from. The scent led us back to an abandoned building very far from town.
"So you came," Lincoln said. "Did you get my present."
"You're going to die for that," I said. His men rushed towards us and the covens charged to attack. The battle was brutal but most of our vampires were older and more skilled in combat. Lincoln stood there and watched with an amused look on his face. I grew angry and was ready to attack. Christian and his pack attacked him first but he used his energy blasts to push them all away.
"Christian!" I shouted. I knew he was still alive but that had to have wounded him badly. Darien looked over to me and I knew that Lincoln had been practicing and was getting strong with his new abilities. Darien decided to strike next. He used his energy balls to hit Lincoln but Lincoln was dodging every one. Darien then went to hand on hand combat. He was getting an upper hand on him until Lincoln used his energy blast to hurt Darien.
"Bastard," I said. Lincoln ran to me and grabbed me by the throat. I tried to wiggle out but he was much stronger than before.
"Impressed?" he asked.
"Hardly, your nothing more than a monster," I said. "And I will stop you."
"You can try," he said. He began to squeeze hard and then suddenly Jessica and Cole appeared.
"Darling," she said.
"Well, if it isn't my favorite fool," Lincoln said.
"Oh, don't worry I brought something for you," she said and that's when I saw him. Just like I remembered. His eyes are still as cold as Ice. He was still devilishly handsome and had that wicked arrogant smile.
"Hello, Mina," he said.
"NO, NO IT CAN'T BE," I said desperately.
