CHAPTER FOUR

"Is it delicious?" I asked Aaron while he's busy digging his plate. For me my soup is very delicious, but I still need his feedback, since what may delicious to me might not be delicious for him. "It is," he answered. I blew a loud breathe as if I was releaf at his brief answer. I even fanned myself. I'm really relieved, ya know. "Does your head hurts?" he asked out a sudden. I halted from fanning myself. I put my hand on the top of the table, grabbed my utensils back, and then give him my full attention. "It's throbbing because of the wound, but I can bear with it. Anyway, I didn't know you know how to fish. You're rich, right?" I asked him with all the curiosity in me. Then I continued digging my plate. He wrinkled his forehead, as he halted himself from eating. "How can you say that I'm rich?" I put down my utensils and stared him for a moment, then shrugged my shoulder. "You look rich, Aaron. So I presume that you are. Besides, you hired a specialist for me last time, and that would cost some money. I know you're rich," I explained. But he shook his head. He's denying it? "It's my parents who's rich, not me." Oh… he's humble, eh? I nodded at him. Speaking of parents, Aaron haven't told me about my parents nor his parents. So I might try asking him now. He wouldn't get mad if I ask, right? Besides, it's about my family, and it's an important part of my life. It would —just maybe— a great help for me to regain my memories back. "Can you tell me about my family? Do they know that I'm alive? And how about your family, is it fine with them that you're here with me? I supposed that you have a job, yet you chose to be with me," I asked him continously. His lips pursed into a thin line as he arched his brows at me. From how he wrinkled his face, I could see that he's having trouble in answering my questions. He might be hiding something from me! I can sense it. "Your parents are both dead, it's only your grandma, Cecelia, who's taking the role as your guardian. Yes, I told her you're fine, so you do not have to worry…" I only stared him, hoping for him to continue the tale. I need to know. I'm not sure if he's telling me the truth about my family but I can see how the sincerity in his eyes glimmers. He might be telling the truth. "I took a leave from work." I stilled. What?! "Why?" He sighed. "To take care of you." I bit my lower lip at his response. Why is he so good? "Is it okay with your parents?" I asked. Of course, I should ask him that. Who knows that his parents are against to it or might as well does not have any idea where he is. A disturbing idea popped in the back of my mind. Elope. That's the word. We didn't elope, did we? I scratch that idea. He told me that Cecelia was aware about this and I be— Wait… don't believe at him, Maggy, we still do not know if he's telling the truth. Let's be vigilant. Yeah. Well, I have to remind myself with it from time to time! I gaze Aaron back, but he looked away from me before standing to gather our plates and put it in the wooden sink. I fell into silent, and so he is. But when he faced me again he started uttering words. "It's fine with them. They knew we're here. You have nothing to worry, really." I have nothing to worry? But why does it seems that his tone wanted me to worry? I am as curious as a cat. I wanted to ask more but I chose to swallowed some of my words. "What's your job?" The only question I dared to state. "I'm a Civil Engineer." "How… How did we met? You're six years older than me, right? So… How are we able to meet? How did we ended up being lovers?" Basically, I should ask him about this too. He introduce himself to me as fiance, so there must be a story —romantic story — behind that. I saw how his brows furrows from my questions. His eyes became dark, but after a second he heaves a sigh and gives me warm gaze. "You're a working student, Maggy. You work in our house as a maid. That's how we met. You always clean my room, at first I don't give a f**k, but later I found myself so fond of you that I always go home early just to see you, baby…" I was stunned for a moment. I wanted to speak but there's nothing that came out from my mouth. I almost heard my heart pumping so loud at his tale. He calls me baby… it's weird but I find it so warm. Like I want to give myself in, and just trust him because called me baby. Oh, Maggy, please get a hold of yourself. He might be a playboy and just playing with you —more likely just taking advance of your condition. I tilted my head to wave the inner thoughts away. Acting so cool like I wasn't move by the story he told me, I gaze him like he's a stranger. "You didn't really kidnapped me? You told me that it's dangerous and someone wants me dead, is that right? Aren't you just fabricating things so you could keep me here?" I accused. Oh, all the swallowed words from earlier are now coming out. I can't read what's running in his mind right now. But Aaron stared me. He didn't say a word. He just stared me with a clenched jaw. Is he…mad? "It's hard to explain, Maggy. Just trust me. I'll tell you everything soon. Just for now, make yourself busy on recuperating. I don't want you to be stress, baby." I smirked at him. I may not remember everything but I am no fool. There's only two reasons as to why he can't explain it to me, first is that it's literally hard to explain and it would take a lot of effort for me to understand, and lastly, he might be preventing me to know the truth —he might have keeping a secret from me. Whatever is it, if he's not going to tell me, I'm going to seek it for myself. "Okay…" I said before standing from the table. I left him inside the house, and even if the sun is a but harsh I still manage to walk my way to the house of Aling Madel. I'm not walking out nor mad at Aaron, I just need to go to Aling Madel's house since she told me she would cook some banana que, and she wants me to have a taste of it. She told me about it earlier, I only got to remember it this time. Hmm… I'm craving for it so might as well go and accept her offer. To be continued...
