7 - The Will

1507 Words
Kay groans as she wakes up. The bed underneath her is fluffy and soft. Like those in the werewolf castle. Kay stretches her body and her eyes pop open as she remembers what they were about to do. She sits up and looks at her right hand. It looks like her normal hand, the only difference is that she has nerve lines where it is connected to her arm. A blue-ish light neon circle in the palm of her hand, and fingertips. Her fingers move as she wants them to and she tilts her head. She touches the duvet lightly with her new fingers. She feels the textures and a smile spreads over her face. She is not sure if this will work, but it does look like it. She jumps out of bed and runs to the door. Open it with her new hand and rush down the stairs. "Look!!" she holds her hand up to them all and opens it, closes it, and opens it again. She has a huge smile on her face while doing this. Jake tries to hide his joy for her. He doesn't want to give others happiness. Doc looks at her, observing her actions and behaviors. "Coffee" the wolf-dog girls hold a cup at Kay. Kay takes it with her right arm out of habit and thanks to her. She has only lost an arm for two days. So having one again is like she never lost her arm in the first place. "I can't believe how well the arms and body are connected and adapt," Doc gives his opinion on it. Aden looks proud of this. "Will it last?" Aden asks and Doc gets a little sad. "She will outlast most of us. She is immortal according to my tests," Doc informs him with the news. Aden looks at Kay amazed. Immortals only exist in storybooks with unrealistic endings. Suddenly, a sad thought pops up in his mind. Kay will see all those she knows and loves die and she will never meet them in the afterlife. Aden tries to suppress his tears by just breathing in air through his mouth, forcing his mouth to only do one function at a time. Kay giggles again and Doc gets seriousness on his face. "Let's go test the shifting ability of that hand. Let's see if it adapts well enough," Doc stands up. Kay's ears perked up and her tail started to move with excitement. Jake just rolls his eyes at Kay for acting like a dog getting a treat from its master. Kay follows Doc outside with Aden and Fare is waiting outside already. "Oh, hello Fare," Doc greets him with a friendly smile and attitude. "You like horses, Doc?" Jake had to follow them too. He is curious if the hand will make a full shift. Kay takes a deep breath in and her shift begins and just like always, she shifts flawlessly. Doc is still amazed at how beautiful Kay is even in this form. Doc moves towards her and looks at the front right paw. The shift is 100%. There is no mistake in it. "Can it be that your body is also accepting the foreign object as its own for it knows that it can only do it well?" Doc asks and Kay looks at her paw. "Or it could be that I am a rainbow born," Kay answers Doc in his head. This made Doc eye her, glaring at her. Her voice was in his head making it sound like it was his voice too. "Jake can't do what you just did. Why not?" Doc asks curiously at this. Jake frowns knowing that Kay just spoke in Doc's mind. "She is the Alpha Queen in my timeline," Jake remains again as if it was not important at all to have mentioned it earlier. "So, can the alpha queen speak in anyone's mind if she wanted?" Aden asks concerned about it. Jake looks at his master. "She can take control of everyone if she wants. She is just being nice to us all," Jake does not like it when someone is hiding things. "Is that true?" Aden looks at Kay, a little hurt and confused. "Uhm, yes. That's true," Kay lowers her head in shame. Everyone present heard her voice inside their minds. "I can take control of your will, it does not matter which species. Human or nonhuman," Kay adds, sounding even more ashamed of this ability. "I do not use it on those who do no harm or are fair towards others. I hate bullying and injustice," Kay tries to make them all feel better, hoping that it would for her sake. She does not want them to get hurt or feel how she can take control within seconds. "So you only use it on bad people?" Fare asks, unsure if he should reveal he can understand them fluently. "And those that need to calm down or will hurt themselves. I try to help most of the time," Kay answers his question and he nods. "I have no problem with her," Fare smiles and Kay gives a little bow towards him, showing her respect. "I heard you allow people to ride with you, Kay. Can you pay me with a ride for your arm while you follow Fare to the mare in labor?" Doc gives a smile. Kay lets her black saddle appear and Doc climbs up. "See you later, Aden," Doc greets him farewell and Jake just stares at them for accepting the information he just gave them. "So, you can even control humans huh?" Doc asks relaxed as they run behind Fare. "Yes, although they don't like it much. Humans have a very high free will and power over themselves, so having no control makes most of them angry," Kay explains of how she has always seen humans. "You have a good point there," Doc smiles as he knows that Kay is smart. Centaurs make way for Fare to lead the doctor towards the mare. They are surprised to see that the doctor is riding a wolf that is the color of the snow and rainbow and is also just a little bigger than Fare himself. Wolfes is known not to grow this big. "She is from a royal bloodline," Fare assures them as they take his word for it. Fare is the only one that speaks to the humans here for he was born here. He knows the humans on this territory won't hurt them. Many of them are rescued from abusive masters. Kay transforms into her beastly humanoid form and smiles at the Centaurs. Her tail is wagging very fast, she can't hide her excitement at meeting them. "Wow," Kay stops in front of the biggest and tallest Centaur in the pack. Kay looks up at him, she feels really small against him. Kay's eyes are big and filled with amazement. She is admiring the Centaur now. His horse's body is 7 feet 2 from the ground to his shoulders. And adding his human body to it makes him in total about 10 feet tall. The coat with the fur around the hooves is pitch black and very beautiful. Kay can't help but admire his beauty. Suddenly Kay's ears peak up and it is turning so that she can listen better. Her eyes move to the river that can be seen from where they are all standing. "We have intruders," Kay alerts them all and Doc looks up at her as he is doing his doctorly things on the mare. "What do you mean by intruders?" Doc asked a little confused and at the same time concerned. They have alarms all over the land, so they would have known something by now. " Jake, we need your team," Kay calls him, her voice making it clear that they are in trouble. "We're on our way," Jake responded immediately and Aden just looked at his warrior team as they all started to run in the direction of the Centaurs. Kay gives the warning growl as a wolf does and the enemy shows itself. They are poachers. Kay's eyes go feral and her energy becomes dangerous, but the Centaurs don't feel threatened by her energy. They feel safe, to be honest. Kay makes them feel safe. Kay takes a step forward, ignition the fight to start. The men on the other side do their gun checks and have evil grins on their faces. There is no soul in their eyes. Kay can see nothing but darkness in them. She narrows her eyes at them. Disgusted with what she sees and feels from them. They have no empathy for life other than their own. This feeling she has towards the poachers radiates from her, causing the centaurs to feel it too. Hegan did not expect to feel her feelings so strong toward a common enemy. "The Wolf is mine!" One dares to shout. The gunshot goes off towards Kay without a second thought.
