1 - A World Unknown
Kay sits up, startled and in great squeezes of pain, but she can block that out for the time being. She looks around, it is dark and cold, the dark doesn't bother her so much. It looks like an abandoned building she is in, or the room is not maintained at all. The paint has chipped off the wall and the remaining paint has dirt on them. She is a little concerned that she can feel the cold. She looks at her body. She is on a concrete floor, there is nothing but concrete, obviously covered in her blood. She feels a little dizzy and sleepy due to the blood she lost. Luckily she knows that her body will recover quickly, well, she hopes it does. She never had an injury this severe. She makes a tear in her shorts and rips a piece off. This is a little difficult with just one arm, but she manages. Next, she uses it with the help of her mouth to tie it around her bleeding stump. It scares her to think what the white coats are capable of. No one should have that much power. Kay gets to her feet slowly. She does not want to pass out and is unaware of what is going on around her. Especially when this place is strange to her. She feels out of place. She knows she does not belong here. She takes a deep breath slowly. She takes the scents in, getting familiar with her immediate surroundings. She can smell the dust in the room and beyond than more dusty rooms. The smell of dampness is also in the air, making it a little difficult for her to breathe. But she will manage to breathe somehow. She moves to the doorframe in the room. There isn't even a window in the room. What kind of place is this? She doesn't feel anyone here or near her. This building has been abandoned for many years, that much she can tell by how the dust is smalling and how long it was laying in the same place. There is not even a small draft blow in this place. She pops her head out from the door and frowns at what she is seeing. There are more rooms like the one she just came out of lined up until it corners, which seems to not stop with this kind of room. Kay looks to the other side and there are also rooms. She feels a sudden draft in the air and looks in the direction of it. She decided to go in that direction. Some rooms have little vertical slots in them with a material plate connected to them from the other side. The doors seem heavy and heavy under lock too. Is this like those prisons Ajikis talked about? This would make a lot of sense if it was. Kay reaches the stairs and looks up. The top looks like a metal gate. A few pillars in the gate are missing, the spaces are big enough for a person to fit through. Old bloodstain splatters can be seen against the walls leading her to the gate. Some people died here or were at least injured. This place has seen a lot. Kay ascends the stairs and squeezes through the openings, making sure not to bump her wounded arm. The person she felt early on was not here anymore. He or she was probably the one who then created the draft she felt when she was peaking out of the room she found herself in. Next to the door, she sees a tiny room with a desk in it. It looks like a computer on the desk, but clearly, the computer has not been working for years. The dust on the table and computer is as thick as the dust in the rooms and part of the hallway. Kay sees a camera on the ceilings, close to the walls, they are pointing at the gate and all the other hallways. This must have been a security checkpoint or something. The smell at this point is different than that of the room she was in. One is a fresh humanoid. Kay decided to follow up. The smell of humans is unique, each one also has its scent but one scent sticks to them all. The smell of blood. Their blood scent is very strong and thus, easy for prey to spot them. Well, humanoid supernatural prey, of course. She finds herself surrounded by bar-like rooms. Each room has three concrete walls and the one wall facing her of each room has metal bars. She is now convinced that this building was a prison, the scene looks exactly like Ajikis has explained to her over and over again. Now she understands them completely. Ajikis wanted to show her when they came across something like this, but they never did come across something like this. She makes a mental note to herself to discuss this with Ajikis when she sees him again in her timeline back home. She stops at the cell where the human scent is very strong and inside she sees a bed. The scent is unique, smells like it is mixed with some kind of metal. The mattress is on the floor, covered in bedding, and next to the bed is a little wooden box with a few candles on them. At the far end of the cell are a toilet and basin. And in the front, against the wall near the gate, is a little stove that needs wood at the border. A person is living here and is taking care of himself nicely. Kay does not want to disturb his peace and she moves on. She reaches for another metal door with bars missing. She is not surprised anymore. Blood is also here. Something went down that was not good. Kay moved through the hallways, all of them had cameras and offices here and there within them as she passed by them, peaking in and seeing desks with computers and chairs. She reached a double door, metal of course, but not bared. It is a solid door. Kay pushes against it with her left arm and it opens with no effort. The fresh air invades her lungs and she can breathe normally. She is grateful she made it outside. Underneath her and around her the ground starts to get live. Green grass is starting to grow. The area around has made her gasp. All the buildings are still standing. No paint, of course, none of them have glass inside their windows and the earth is just dirt, no grass or flowers. There isn't even a single tree standing. Kay takes a step forward and notices that about 30 cm around each of her feet is now grass. She was not aware of this ability of hers to heal the earth. She tilts her head at this. This is something new to her. Kay frowns and wonders how she will get this to stop for now, but it is clear to her that this power is passive. It does not take her energy and it can not be stopped. She tries to control it, but it does not want to listen to her. She sighs and bites her lip, she has no idea what to do. Kay shifts into her natural form and strangely enough her missing arm does not bother her in this form either. Kay still has the arm tied off until she can fully heal it for the piece of cloth to be taken off.
