        I winced as pain pierced my index finger and looked down at the drop of blood that formed where I had bitten my nail too deep. I had resorted back to that old annoying habit without realizing it after spending the entire night sitting at the edge of the bed and staring outside. The clouds had receded around early morning, letting the moon show its face before the sun peeked over the edge of the trees and chased it away.         The sounds outside had started even before dawn, and I could distantly hear countless conversations and people rushing up and down the street.
