"Why me? Why does our Goddess hate me so much?" I fake cried, folding my arms and slamming my head into them...
"Why can't I just be normal?" I tilted my head, staring at Alex who was looking at me with a 'so done' face.
"You've been hiding in here for long enough, Luca." Alex said, as she forcefully pulled me off my chair, and dragged me to... "Where are you taking me?" I asked looking at her with big round eyes. The shining evidence of having too much to drink.
"Home" Alex said, as a matter of fact, leaving no room for protesting.
My name is Luca. I'm 24 years old and already I feel too old for this world. like, I've lived and survived the trial, but I'm done now... can I have my crayons back, PLEASE.
I promise to never again wish that I'm older...
I'm 5.7ft which is not short, it's a fun size.
I have a small physique, slightly muscular but with curves in all the right places... well so I've been told.
I have shoulder length light brown hair, and my attitude makes up for all the height I'm missing. i have light green eyes with a soft glow when I'm in the sun. I'm fun and easy going, but I can be stubborn and lethal... "Don't mistake my kindness for weakness." well that is my motto since I left home at 16.
*Luca's POV*
"ughh... what have I done?" I asked myself as I struggled to sit up. My head is pounding and the light is too much for my eyes.
"Drinking is only fun while doing it." I said, already regretting it.
I looked around the room and I don't even remember coming home.
"you're up?" I heard Alex's voice and winced.
"Tone it down, will you?" I asked, slightly hissing at her.
"Well, Mr... I'm not the one that made you drink, am I?" Alex asked with her head tilted to the side, and her hands resting on her hips.
"I need more sleep" I said, falling back on the bed pulling the covers over my head.
"Nope... I don't think so..." Alex said pulling the blanket off me. "I have pain killers, and breakfast. and you my dear friend have a job interview in less than 2 hours... Go shower and get ready" Alex said and I froze... I had completely forgotten about the interview. I jumped out of bed at lightning speed, ignoring the throbbing pain in my head and ran to the bathroom... "why didn't you wake me sooner?" I yelled, but all I heard was a snicker and the door closing...
Why am I a mess? why can't I just act like an adult? 'you've never been this age before' yahh.. that is my excuse from now on.
I showered in record time, and found something professional, yet comfortable to wear. I styled my hair in half a ponytail... like usual.
I don't wear make-up, but I had to hide the dark circles under my eyes... 'that's it, I'm done drinking...' I said to myself looking into the mirror.
I gave a bitter laugh as soon as I said those words. Alcohol was my go to whenever my head got too loud, or I was stressed. It was safer than picking fights like I used to do...
*One day you will pick a fight with the wrong person and you'll end up badly hurt, or dead*
The words of my Omega kept replaying in my head like a mantra.
I sighed, grabbing my messenger bag from beside the door.
"I know," I whispered. "That's why I stopped."
*You stopped fighting with your fists.* My Omega said.
"...Progress is progress."
My Omega huffed but didn't argue.
Alex leaned against the kitchen counter, watching me lace up my shoes. I straightened and looked at her. "How do I look?" I asked nervously, watching as she scanned me over.
"You look good. You've got this." Alex said.
"I really don't."
"You do."
"I have a hangover."
"You also have rent to pay."
"...You're ruining my pity party."
She laughed, handing me a travel mug filled with coffee.
"I know." Alex said, with humor in her eyes.
I smiled despite myself.
"Thanks, Mom." I snickered.
"I'm older than you by six months."
"Exactly. Ancient." I chuckled playfully.
Alex rolled her eyes and shoved me toward the door.
"Go before you're late."
The interview was at a company called Swift-Route Logistics. The company was nothing fancy. No marble floors. No crystal chandeliers.
Just a modest office tucked between a bakery and a pharmacy. One would miss it, if you didn't look for it specifically.
"I liked it already." I said to myself, as I slowly pushed forward towards the reception desk.
A woman behind the desk looked up with a small welcoming smile."You must be Luca." She said before I could even state my name.
"Hopefully." I said, and she chuckled. I'm nervous, and scared at the same time... because this is how it always goes. Everyone is so friendly and polite, until they find out I'm a male omega... A tale of legend that shouldn't be existing.
"I'm Mia. The manager will be with you shortly." Mia said, and motioned for me to take a seat. i expected to wait longer, but ten minutes later, I was sitting across from a middle-aged Beta named Mr. Carter. I watched him carefully as he scanned through my resume.
"You've worked a lot of jobs."
"I get bored."
He raised an eyebrow.
"I mean..." I coughed. "...I like learning new things."
"Hm."
He flipped another page.
"No driving violations."
"No criminal record."
"Excellent references."
"I bribed them."
Mr. Carter just stared at me. and for a second i saw something flicker in his eyes that looked a lot like amusement.
I scratched the back of my neck. "I get nervous."
"So I can see." Mr. Carter said, making brief eye contact. To my surprise, he smiled.
"I like honest people." He said, still smiling.
The interview lasted another twenty minutes.
By the time I stood to leave, Mr. Carter extended his hand. i looked at his hand and then at him. confusion must've been evident on my face because his next words were not what i had expected to hear...
"When can you start?" I blinked.
"...Excuse me?"
"The job is yours if you want it."
"Seriously?" I asked, surprised.
"We're always looking for reliable couriers."
"I—I got it?"
"You got it."
A grin stretched across my face.
I practically skipped out of the office, pulling my phone from my pocket before I'd even reached the sidewalk. Alex would be so proud of me... we'll I won't tell her everything just the good news.
I dialed her number and she answered on the second ring.
"So?"
"I GOT THE JOB!" I yelled, not caring about the weird glances I was receiving...
Her excited squeal nearly burst my eardrum. But my smile didn't falter.
"I knew you would!"
"I start on Monday!"
"See? I told you."
"I owe you dinner!"
"You owe me a lot more than dinner." I said, with a soft chuckle. We ended the call and i just stood there. I can't remember the last time I've felt so happy and relieved...
I laughed as I looked up at the cloudy sky. For once my Biology didn't matter... For once I wasn't judged, I was accepted...
Maybe...
Just maybe...
