An Alpha carries expectations.
Not ones he chooses for himself, but those forced upon him by the world.
He must be cold.
Calculating.
Ruthless.
A leader who commands not only the corporate world but the underworld as well—a place where crime is currency and murder is discussed over breakfast.
Zaiden's life is anything but simple.
Every move is carefully calculated. Every decision is made with discipline. One mistake is enough to bring down everything he has built.
In the rain-soaked city, an Alpha watches in silence.
Standing before the floor-to-ceiling windows of his billion-dollar headquarters, deep brown eyes follow each raindrop as it races down the glass.
Everything is under control.
Everything is according to plan.
Until a loud, obnoxiously friendly Omega walks into his building carrying two takeout bags.
"Hi! I'm here with a delivery," the Omega says cheerfully, lifting the bags with a smile bright enough to rival the sun.
The receptionist smiles warmly as she accepts them.
"I'll make sure they get to the right office."
"Awesome! Thanks!"
Just as Luca turns to leave, the elevator chimes.
'Ding'
Out steps the most breathtaking man he has ever seen.
Time stops.
His mind goes completely blank.
"Sir," the receptionist says respectfully, "Lina asked me to remind you that your meeting starts in twenty minutes."
The man responds with nothing more than a single nod.
"...Wow," Luca breathes.
He doesn't realize he said it out loud until those cold brown eyes meet his.
A chill crawls down his spine.
Not the pleasant kind.
The dangerous kind.
"I-I should get going. Thank you!"
Without waiting for a response, Luca practically skips out of the building, passing the Alpha whose scent reminds him of strong coffee... and danger.
Two things that should never be mixed.
Some things were never meant to be held.
A star cannot be caged.
Darkness and light cannot exist together without one changing the other.
And a silent Alpha...
...and an impossibly loud Omega...
could never cross paths without their worlds falling apart.
A decision was made.
A single step was taken.
And someone was left utterly devastated.
