Episode 8— Second mate. ROWENA’S pov “Well, glad to see that you both finally met” Ryker smiled then turned to me, the hardness in his eyes softened as we held gaze. “Rowena, this is Elly, the former Luna of my pack and soon-to-be former mate” he introduced and I smiled. I wasn’t a bi**h but I guess I have learned the hard way. “Hi, I’m Rowena, the soon-to-be Luna of the Blue moon pack, nice to meet you” I smirked. If anything, I was glad with satisfaction when the smile she initially had on her face came off faster than I could say, Jack Robinson. “Ryker, look… I shouldn’t have—” Ryker raised his hands halting her from speaking. “Spare me the pity me essay, I should have you thrown into the dungeon but I won’t instead, you will walk out of here quietly and peacefully” he warned. The way he spoke quietly and calmly if I didn’t know better, then I would have thought he wasn’t mad. “Fine. I will, But don’t think I’ve given up” She glared at me and with one final pleading look at Ryker who didn’t seem to care, she turned to leave. “And, Elly one more thing” Ryker called out. “I, Ryker DuPont, Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, denounce you Elly Woods as my mate and the Luna of the Blue moon Pack” The moment he said those words, I watched him struggle to breathe as he gritted his teeth. “Ryker, I—” light tears flowed out of Elly’s eyes. If I hadn’t found Ryker injected with silver, with slashes on his chest, I would have actually taken a pity on her. But I knew better and those tears are crocodile tears. “Ryker, please don’t do this” she cried but instead Ryker walked up to her and held her tight. “You need to accept the rejection, Elly” he whispered into her ears but thanks to my Alpha bloodline and enhanced hearing I could hear them. “What I did… I did it out of—” “—f**k it! Elly accept the f*****g rejection!” Ryker’s eyes turned red, I couldn’t recognize him anymore as I watched him clench his fingers deep into her skin making her whimper. As if controlled by unforeseeable powers, I dragged myself towards them as I held Ryker's arm. “Ryker, you need to stop. You’re hurting her” I whispered, trying to pull his hands away from her but it was useless. I placed my hand at the back of his neck and I felt him stiffened. “Ryker, please calm down” I whispered. I watched him struggle to control himself, fighting with his wolf, and at last, he won. “Accept the rejection and get out of here before I do something to you” he growled and Elly trembled. “Fine,” I watched her wipe off her tears dejectedly and swallowed. “I, Elly Woods accept your rejection and denouncement as your mate and Luna of the Blue Moon Pack” she whispered. “Now get out! Be lost!” Ryker gritted and she ran faster than anyone I’ve ever seen. I don’t think it’s even possible to not touch the floor but I guess it was for Elly. She looked like a frightened chicken that had just had its first fall in the stream. I almost chuckled then I remembered the severity of the situation at hand. Gosh! I’m so evil. I watched her leave and when she was out of sight, I turned to Ryker who was staring at me like I got something on my cheek, or was he mad that I interfered? “Um. Are you okay?” I asked cautiously, I wasn’t sure what he was feeling at the moment and I had to tread on thin ice right now especially since I am with an Alpha who just rejected his mate. “Um, Ryker, hello?” I called as he kept on staring at me or staring through me might be the appropriate words. “RYKER!” I screamed. “Right,” he cleared his throat pulling out of his daze. “Sorry, I need to go,” he said quickly not even having eye contact with me. Well, that wasn’t weird at all. *** Ryker’s Pov Shit! s**t! s**t! Triple s**t! This is not happening right now. I pulled my hair as I kept on letting strings of curses out of my mouth. When I was breaking off the mate bond with Elly, the last thing I was expecting was to find my second mate immediately. Not to talk about the fact that we’ve been living under the same roof for a week now. “Are you okay?” I jumped at the sudden intrusion and quickly regained my composure. “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. You didn’t startle me at all” I grumbled. Normally, I would have heard someone approaching but I was too deep in thoughts that I never noticed. “I’m sorry I startled you, but I’ve been calling you for some minutes now and I couldn’t get to you” he apologized. “Oh, I didn’t realize” I replied. “Is this because of Elly? I felt the bond break and—” “No, no, I’m fine, and Elly is in the past ,” I quickly cut in. “Being on that bed with silver injected into my system, while I was struggling for my life, I thought of everything and I realized, maybe the moon goddess had paired us together but Elly and I wouldn’t have worked out, despite how it came to an end” as I spoke, it felt like a heavy weight was lifted off my shoulder. I had worshipped Elly for so long that I didn’t realize how unmatched we both were for each other. How I deserved better than her. “But I’m pretty sure that isn’t what’s bothering you?” Bradford noted and I sighed. “True,” I confirmed. He was my best friend and Beta, there was no use hiding anything from him anyway. “I just found my mate!” I blurted out. “Well, yeah, Elly returned but didn’t you just broke things off?” Bradford asked confused. “No, I mean my second mate. I just found her.” I corrected. “You’ve found your second mate!” A voice called out from the door and we both turned simultaneously towards the direction.
