Chapter One - Dylan
I pulled myself from the ground, my hair a mess and my clothes hanging loosely from my body as I dragged myself to the door feeling my blood rush around in anger. I wiped the remaining tears, smudging them over my cheek with the back of my hand, before swinging the door open and rushing out.
My sight suddenly blurred once again as those green eyes came into view and I felt my heart sink a little lower, my legs shake, and my breath suddenly clogs in my throat as she walked over with worry masking her features.
“Dylan what’s-” her voice came to an end as I brought my palm up and down on her cheek watching her face turn sharply to the right and her dark brown hair cover the red mark before her hand pressed tightly onto the sting of my finger marks. “Why the hell did you do that for?!”
“Because you made me feel things…things that I shouldn’t! You made me turn against everything I knew…y-you made me different! You took everything and you made it so perfect, so wonderful and then you threw it back and you left me alone to deal with it all…you didn’t care…you made me…you made me love you and you didn’t even care!” I took a step back feeling the tears rush down from my eyes all over again and my body turning weak with the urge to collapse and scream sobbing, but I didn’t have the chance too.
Her pale face had suddenly turned to hurt, her eyes showing shock as her hand fell to her side and her lips wavered slightly.
“I never left you alone Dylan…”
__________
“Are you ready yet?!” My sister yelled from the bottom of the stairs while I zipped up my black jeans and pulled a loose shoulder cut-off grey shirt on covering the belly piercing that I had got done a year ago. I ran into my trainers and grabbed the black hoody from the floor then ran straight from my room and down the stairs slipping into it and throwing the small blue rucksack on the floor over my shoulder.
“Yeah, I’m ready,” I said out of breath standing in front of her as her dark brown eyes looked me up and down.
“I still can’t believe I’m actually related to someone like you.” She muttered rolling her eyes.
You see, we’re completely different.
1. She’s 17, I’m 16.
2. She’s got straight blond hair, I’ve got messy brown.
3. She wears fitting tight clothes, I, however, don’t.
4. She’s popular and I’m the tomboy out of my group.
5. And finally…she’s friends with top, bitchest group of girls of them all, while I’m friends with the normal slightly s*x-crazed girls.
“Whatever,” I whispered back before throwing my hand into my hair and throwing it over my right eye in a messy manner. “Just cause I don’t dress slutty like you.”
“You know, even though you’re my annoying, little younger sister…I somehow still manage to love you.” She laughed throwing her arm around my shoulders as we walked out towards her car. I smiled back wrapping my arm around her waist until my eyes landed on Flo leaning again the car door.
“Ugh, if you loved me…you wouldn’t be friends with her.” I muttered.
“You know, if you would just try and be nice to the girl, you might actually just like her.”
“Yeah right, she’s a stuck up know it all,” I said snorting before pulling away once we reached the car. “Hey, whore.”
Flo's smile left her lips and suddenly she was frowning along with my sister.
“Hi freak.” She greeted back smirking sarcastically which I returned before my sister sighed, rolling her eyes again.
“Ok, can you at least wait until I’m gone before you two have your little b***h fight?! I need to get to school on time and so do you two.” Flo agreed and made her way into the front seat as I took my place at the back whispering rude remarks while texting.
The whole car ride, Flo blabbed on and on about our history assignment and how she pretty much spent her whole weekend preparing for it in which I had no choice but to remark how she had no life. And of course, from there on, hell broke loose.
“Dylan!” I turned around after slamming the car door shut and smiled to see Gina and Chess run over to me. Gina had her short blond hair tied up in a bun and her blue eyes heavily eye-lined with dark purple eyeliner. Chess had her hazel brown eyes covered with her half-moon shaped glasses and her black hair loose around her tanned shoulders.
“Hey, guys.” I greeted them both with a hug before stepping back and shooting Flo a death glare.
“Oh, don’t forget to give Mr. Nickel that little lap dance, you know, your parents would be pretty damn disappointed if you didn’t get that A like always.” I fake smiled sweetly and saw Flo’s mouth fall wide open with shock before I walked away in laughter.
“You’re actually really mean!” Gina complained with a hint of a smile as she wrapped her arm around mine.
“Yeah, I know, but she deserves it! I mean she spilled juice all over my work three years ago which ended with me in detention AND a U grade so yeah…I can hate her.”
“Dude, this has been going on for like…what oh yeah, THREE years now. Give it a break.”
“Did you give Jeremy a break?” I asked shooting Chess a look that caused her to cringe.
“No…but that’s different!”
“Sure,” I muttered before making our way into form.
~~
“Did you hear?” Chess whispered as I took my seat next to her desk throwing my bag down on the ground.
“Hear about what?” I asked confused trying to get my breathing back under control.
“You know…Mr. Nickel decided to assign us partners for the History assignment. You think he paired us together?” Chess smiled widely clapping her hands together almost jumping from her seat.
“I doubt it, he hates us.” I shot back leaning back against my desk and lifting my foot up onto my chair with one arm leaning against the armrest and the other plopped on my knee and my arm simply crossed over.
“True.”
I was about to reach for the test paper which had been left on my desk when something caught my eyes. I looked up to see Flo walking in, her face a bright red as she tried tugging down her skirt down and suddenly my eyes had widened.
She wasn’t wearing the same skirt…no way! Now she was wearing a mini green skirt and her red flats were damp while her white and purple shirt was now replaced with a baggy overgrown hoody. But that wasn’t what caught my eyes…it was her long lean legs.
Clearing my throat and shaking my head I looked away slightly red and flushed from the thought.
What the hell?! What is wrong with me!?
“Aw looks like you went with that lap dance after all, gosh does that A really mean the world to you Flo?” I asked chuckling and for a second, I thought I saw her eyes water over but the laughter that broke out around me defiantly made it obvious.
“Nah she just had a little…trip…” And suddenly the class was in laughter as Flo ran off from the room in tears, leaving me sitting there rather shocked. She’d never cried before let alone ditched a subject. Frowning, I looked back at the front as Mr. Nickel walked in and carried on the lesion.
“Now without further ado, here are your partners for this assignment.
Tori and James
Rachael and Michelle
Frank and Lewis
Chess and Harry
Mary and Laura
Rocky and Vincent
Dylan and Flo
Harmony-”
Suddenly, I wasn’t frowning anymore, instead, I was sitting up straight, my leg on the floor with my hands bashing down on my desk,
“WHAT THE f**k?!” And yes, the chatters around me boomed only making it worse as Mr. Nickels face grew red with rage.
“Miss Knight leave this classroom at once! You will be partnered with who I tell you too and if this assignment isn’t complete, consider yourself failied in History!” He kept his finger pointed at the door, his eyes narrowed as I stood grabbing my bag with a huff and making my way out.
I mentally kicked myself, not only did I just make my situation in class worse…but now…I’m literally FORCED to pass with…HER!
Why me?!
