An Early Morning Conversation With The Lady

826 Words
Working in the pack house, made Brawn understand why the omegas had never complained about their position. He unenthusiastically took a burning torch and headed out to the well to start his day's chore. He wondered how the day would go for him. When he got to the well, he saw the omega that knocked at his door earlier, lifting a big heavy basin of water with ease. There were other big basins beside the well filled with water. "You can pick anyone you can carry. Don't worry, We will soon be done here," the omega said as he left with the big basin filled with water. Brawn placed the burning torch he held somewhere close to the well and scanned the basins on the ground. He said to himself, "If Rex were to be here, he would be able to do this even without a wolf. You can do this, Brawn." He tried to lift one but found it difficult. He tried again and swaggered. He shook his head and he concluded that he was of all werewolves, most miserable. Sparkle came with a big basin to fetch some water and saw Brawn struggling with the basins of water. He was trying different basins to see the one he could comfortably carry. He lifted some a little bit above the ground and dropped them immediately, panting. The scene made her chuckle and it drew Brawn's attention. He turned quickly and saw Sparkle behind him covering her mouth and trying hard to suppress her laughter. Embarrassed, he let out an awkward smile and stood erect scratching his head. He did not know how to react to the situation. "You need some help lifting that?" She asked with a smile on her face. "Uhm . . . I – the – some," He struggled to find the right words and finally said in a low voice, scratching his left eyebrow, "Yes, I do." Sparkle dropped her basin on the floor and walked to the filled basin beside Brawn. Still having her smile on her face, she lifted it and did not hand it over to Brawn. Instead, she asked, "It is to be taken to the pup's bathrooms, right?" "Yes but . . ." Brawn replied but stopped talking when she started heading to the Alpha's pup's bathroom in the pack building carrying the heavy basin of water . Brawn followed her as she walked. He wanted to tell her to give it to him but did not say anything because he knew he could not carry it. The male omega who carried the first basin in earlier, met them as he was returning to the well. He had this look of astonishment on his face. He was surprised to see Sparkle helping Brawn carry the basin of water. Brawn on the other hand was very embarrassed that a lady could carry what he could not carry. He tried to hide his face as he walked behind her. After dropping it in the bathroom, she came out of the pack building and Brawn followed her sheepishly. "Thank you very much, ma'am. I really appreciate it," he said in a low voice. "Drop the ma'am thing. You know I am an omega so just call me Sparkle," she said smiling. "Okay . . . Sparkle, thank you," he said. He chuckled and added in a clear voice, "It was a bit embarrassing though but it was helpful." She chuckled too and said, "You don't need to be ashamed of anything. Your wolf has not emerged yet, everyone knows that. I could lift it because mine has emerged . . . So there is nothing to be embarrassed about at all." Brawn felt comfort in what she said. All the shame he felt for letting her help him, vanished. He looked at her and nodded his head in agreement. "So you are?" she asked with her palms opened and pushed forward. "I am the least ranking werewolf in the pack for now. I serve with the omegas," He said with not feeling ashamed at all. "Ha Ha Ha" she burst into laughter and said, "You are funny." Brawn wondered what was funny in what he said. He simply answered her question and she started laughing. "I was asking of your name, not your rank," she said amidst her laugh. "Oh!" Brawn said and they both laughed. "I am sorry, my name is Raw . . . Raw Riol." He finally said stretching his right hand out for a handshake. She took the handshake and said, "I am Sparkle . . . Sparkle Dew." Brawn smiled and said, "Nice meeting you, Sparkle . . . again." She smiled and said, "It is a pleasure meeting you too . . . again." The omega who passed earlier passed them again with another basin of water. He looked at Brawn as he passed. Brawn suddenly remembered that he had work to do.
