"There was –" Sparkle wanted to report the werewolf she met in the room to Au but changed her mind.
"There was what?" asked Au. She was getting more impatient.
"Nothing serious, ma'am," she said as she bowed her head.
"The Luna and my sister have already gone to the ceremony. We should get going," Au said as she headed to the stairs.
By the time Brawn was out, there was a group of werewolves at the centre of the compound performing some cultural dances to entertain the werewolves in attendance and also to grace the event.
Brawn returned to where he left his hospital brothers but could not find them. The compound was already filled with werewolves who came to cheer the pups who were shifting that night in the sub pack. Some were parents of the pups shifting, some were siblings, some were friends and others were well-wishers.
There was a big space left at the centre of the sub-pack house as a stage for entertainers to perform and also where the pups would undergo their first shift. This space was surrounded by burning torches. This was to lighten and decorate the centre. It also served as a barricade to contain the wolves of the pups that would be shifting that night, at the centre as some might act feral at the first emergence.
Alpha Veer and his Luna, Beta Sinew and his Beta female were already in their seated positions enjoying the entertainers displaying at the centre of the sub-pack house.
Brawn turned his head around to see if he could locate his hospital brothers but it was to no avail. He felt someone tap him on his shoulder and he turned. It was one of the salutaries.
"Raw! Where have you been?!" the salutary boomed, "The boys have gone to change to their uniforms. Go to the building at the right corner of the pack house. Every male pup who is going to be shifting tonight is in the third room by the left. Hurry!" he said pointing him in the direction he should go.
Brawn quickly headed in the direction he was pointed to. As he was hurrying down, he bumped into a young lady who came out of the sub-pack house with three other ladies, escorted by a few gammas and she fell to the floor. She looked like a dignitary and Brawn wondered why he had been moving from one trouble to another.
He hurriedly bent down to help her get back on her feet and kept apologizing. As he helped her up, he noticed how beautiful she was. As she rose her head up, he recognized her to be the lady he had met upstairs.
"I am sorry, ma'am. I didn't see you coming." Brawn apologized when she was finally up.
"It is fine," she said as she was dusting herself up.
"I hope I didn't get you bruised, ma'am?" Brawn said as he used his eyes to examine her hands.
"I am fine, thank you," She looked at him and recognized him. She had been paying attention earlier to the dress Au gave her to be sure it did not rip apart or dent and had not looked at him.
"Oh, it is –" She was about to say something but was interrupted when Brawn was pushed aside violently from behind.
"Hey! Don't you have eyes to watch where you are going?!" a voice snapped from the direction the push came from.
Brawn turned and saw Au standing beside him with her face distorted in anger.
He quickly gave her a bow and apologized, "I am sorry, ma'am. I was in a hurry I didn't see her coming."
Au went straight to Sparkle and examined her. Brawn noticed that as Au came closer to Sparkle, Sparkle bowed her head in an omega-like manner. Brawn became confused. He had thought she was a dignitary.
"Are you okay?" Au asked Sparkle.
"Yes, ma'am."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Do you feel any pain or something?"
"No, ma'am."
Au turned to Brawn and said, "You are lucky she is not hurt. If she had hurt a strand of her hair, I would have pulled out all of yours."
She snarled at him and headed to the ceremony with the ladies and her gammas following her.
Brawn stood erect and stared at them as they got where the Alpha was sitting. Au took her seat beside the Beta female and Sparkle stood with the other omegas.
He had mixed feelings of surprise and confusion in him. He was surprised that the lady dressed in an elegant dress was an omega. He was also surprised at the manner the Alpha's sister protected the lady omega and wondered why she was so angry with him for what was clearly an accident.
While Brawn was still trying to wrap his head around what happened, he felt a strong tap from his side on his shoulder. It was Rex. He was dressed up in a very big and loose garment which was the shifting attire. The garment gave a lot of room for shifting to occur without the cloth ripping apart. There was a line of the guys who were to be shifting that night approaching from behind. They were all dressed in the shifting attire and were moving to the centre of the sub-pack house compound. There was also a similar file of the ladies to be shifting approaching from the other side of the sub-pack house.
"Where the f**k have you been?!. We have looked all over for you!" Rex said in a tone that showed that he was doing his best to refrain from shouting.
