What Are The Odds?

"What the f**k?! Remain in this f*****g place? Hell No! . . . Never! Not me!" Alex was irritated with the thought. He was no longer comfortable with seeing injured werewolves and sick pups every day. "Luke can be The Guardian Angel but as for me, I would rather be a hunter or a sentinel or a warrior . . . anything but a Salutary or a Guardian. I can't imagine myself dealing with injured werewolves for the rest of my life." Alex perished the thought immediately. "As for me," Rex dropped his bowl of food and stood upright, "I was born a f*****g warrior. I was born to kick some ass and I will kick them till the day I die." he boasted, concluding by beating his chest three times. Rex was tall but not very tall. He was the same height as Kite while Brawn was taller than them both. He had a broad chest, thick arms and tighs which made him appear huge. He fought a lot on the street and won the most. This gave him the impression that his wolf would be no lesser than his human form. "Hey Raw, what about you?" Luke turned the attention to Brawn who had been eating quietly the whole time. Brawn went by the name "Raw Roil" to hide his identity after he was found by a hunter in the woods and delivered to Beta Sinew. Beta Sinew had handed him over to Salutary Hale. "Raw would fit for a scout. His recklessness and innocent face are pass marks for a spy. No one would suspect him." Alex teased Brawn looking directly at him. "A Hunter, you mean? Alex, have this asshole fought you for food before? Try to take a piece of meat from his meal and you would see his veins all out like you were asking for his birthright or something." Rex took the tease further. "It is clear he must have come from a generation of hunters." Brawn only responded with a smile. Kite took some sips of water and said, "It seems Raw is lost in the thoughts of Beta Felicity's sister. That is why he is smiling quietly." "Now, what are the odds?" Luke asked laughing. Alex gulped down the potato he was chewing and advised, "Hey Raw, we have told you earlier. Wake up from your fantasy. She can never be mated to your sorry ass." Brawn raised his head, smiled and said, " I suggest you all should be worried about yourselves. I can not help but wonder who will be so unlucky to be mated to your ugly ass faces." "Are you shitting me? My mate would be more than grateful I am mated to her. I mean, look at this beauty. . ." Kite said as he moved his palm from his forehead to his chin. He saw himself as the most handsome of them all. ". . .and not to beat the dead horse, I am the one ladies admire the most. You all hear the ladies giggle when I pass by." He was feeling smug after he ended with that statement. "Asshole, You can not be sure that it was you that made them giggle." Brawn countered. "Anytime I hear ladies giggle, we are f*****g together. So they might probably be giggling because of any of us . . . and besides, we the real handsome ones don't need to display our PRIDE, we keep our LIONS inside." Brawn finished with two of his fingers (his forefinger and middle finger) raised to his face giving Kite the peace sign. Kite responded with a middle finger and Brawn laughed. "You know, sometimes I wonder what my mate is doing currently . . . like right now," Luke said dropping his empty bowl beside him and looking up at the rest. He was done with eating. "She could be with another guy hoping they turn out to be mates, you know?" The Assistant Salutary said as he walked in through the door. He had a smile on his face. He did not mind joining in the conversation. "I am speaking from experience." "Good afternoon sir." Everyone chorused. "Having some chit-chat?" He asked as he walked with both hands at his back. He sat on Luke's bed to rest his legs. The boys nodded with confused smiles hanging on their faces. They were not sure if he was expecting a reply or if the question was rhetorical. "We will be moving the herbal mixtures prepared for the ceremony, to the sub-pack house soon. The omegas have arrived with the cart. I'll need you, boys, to come and help out in the loading." He instructed as he looked around at the boys to be sure they understood the task. The boys chorused, "Okay sir." He stood up and walked to the door. As he was about to leave the room, he turned and said, "Oh! I almost forgot. You all leave with the omegas. Okay?" "Yes sir." They chorused once again. As the Assistant Salutary left, those that were not done with eating, rounded off with their food. When they were done, they picked up a few things and left to help the omegas.
