Gael told my brother to tell me he was waiting downstairs for me. It was already ten o clock but I wasn’t even sure what I wanted to wear. I have a white sunflower print dress that reaches just two inches below my knee, a light brown floral sandals and a brown straw hat with a yellow bow. Outfit number two is a pink plaid print drop shoulder shirt, blue jeans pants and a pink and white canvas contrast shoe. After a little back and forth and then a phone call to my mom she told me to wear the dress. I had to walk down the stairs because they were doing a little work on the lift. As I reach the top of the stairs to go to the ground floor, my brother, matt and the Luna caught sight of me while Gael stood with his back to me on the phone. Nervousness is eating me up as I descend the stairs. trying to get down quickly before Gael turns around but also trying not to fall. That hope didn’t last long as Gael finished his phone call and turned around. The gasp that left him made me halt, we locked eyes for just a moment before Matt’s whistle broke it. A blush crept up on my face as I shot matt a playful glare. I held on to the hand rail and tried to get down quickly and Gael is already there to receive me. “ Awwe, who knew you could be such a gentleman Gael?.” Matt playfully asked. “ ohh, they say a man will do any and everything for the right woman.” He answers his own question with a big grin on his face. “ that’s not how the saying go.” Luna Stella frowned. “ well. Tomato tomato.” He shrugged. We left both Luna and Matt inside still arguing about how the saying goes. Andel came outside to bid us goodbye like we’re not coming back. Telling Gael not to do anything reckless and not to stay away long and check in with him every hour so that he knows we’re safe. “ I’m serious bro, don’t try anything with my sister. Yolan you’ll tell me if he tries anything right?.” He held on to the door before Gael could shut it. Gael laughed. “ chill out, we’re coming back, you can ask her about how it went then, now let go.” “Okay so let me come then?.” He asked and immediately I told him. “ NO.” “ but why?.” “Because I said so.” I shot him a sarcastic smile and he starts begging me with his eyes . I roll my eyes at his antics. “ we’re already late Andel. he’s doing this on purpose to make us not go.” “ I’ll let go if you promise to check in with me every half an hour.” “ you are unbelievable. first you say one hour now you say half an hour” I told him as I remember last night. I’m sure he can see the mischievous glint in my eyes now. “ whatever we do is none of your business. Gael, let’s go.” I said as I gave him a mocking look. I threw my head back as I laughed at the panic that sets in his face. His hand slumped from the door as he took two step back and look at me. “ you heard the lady.” Gael shrugged closing the door and flashed him a grin then walked around the driver seat. As the jeep turned to go out the gate I looked at him through the window .“ bye delly” I said in a soft mischievous tone but loud enough so that he can hear me. I put my hand out wiggling my fingers. As if he’s now coming to realization he shouted. “ I’m telling mom.” I can see his hands clenching at his side. So to provoke him further I pushed my head through the window. “That’s the softie brother I know.” I laughed as he stormed back inside. “ is he always like that.” Gael asked curiously. “ hmm, well yes and no. yes because we’ve been together, literally our whole life. And no because you’re the first guy to take me out.” I blushed before continuing. “ I don’t know how to put it but I think he’s scared that I’d get close to you or anyone for that matter.” “ Awwe, so he sees me as a threat.” Gael joked looking over at me for a brief moment before focusing back on the road. “ well I wouldn’t say that. It’s not you, it’s me. He probably thinks I’ll rather hang out with you than him if we get closer.” “ so if I play my cards right we’ll get closer?.” He looks over again with the biggest grin on his face that I’ve ever seen. “Maybe.. maybe not. you never know.” “ is that a challenge?.” “ would you like to take it as one?.” I questioned. “ of course, if you allow me to..why not.” He smiled looking at me again.oh my gosh. why does my heart starts beating so fast along with the feeling of butterflies in my stomach whenever he looks at me. And I can’t even hide the stupid blush that keep creeping on my face every time. It took us almost an hour to get to our destination. As we got to the special place according to Gael. There was a cabin like two minutes in from the Main road. He parked the jeep at the side of it that gave us a view of the blue water lake and the lush green grass that are neatly trimmed. I’d say the yard around the cabin is at least six acres and from there are trees that keeps the cabin hidden. “ this is beautiful.” I said as I got out of the jeep holding my face to the sun with my arms open, inhaling the scent of the pine tree. Gael laughs. “ yea, wait till you see where I’m taking you.” I looked at him confused. “ where can you possibly take me that is more beautiful than this piece of art place.” He chuckled and said. “ you’ll see.” He went to the back of the jeep took out a picnic basket, here I am again blushing. “ come on, let’s go.” He came and held my hand, my heart leapt as he intertwined our fingers. Walking off towards a stone walk way that’s made with big peach coloured flagstones and purple-ish, grey and peach gravel. We walked through a path with trees towering over merging to create a tunnel like scenery. As we came to a clearing, I gasped at the many different colour and type of flowers. three cherry blossom trees the closest one being maybe ten feet from where we stood. I was so stuck in the beauty of nature that I didn’t feel when Gael started pulling me towards the tree. Walking through the flowers I opened my free hand brushing it against them as I passed. The soft fragrance of the flowers, the gentle breeze and the little chirping of one or two birds occasionally made me feel so relaxed. At peace. I didn’t realize under the tree were free of flowers until I saw Gael smiling at me while taking out something from the picnic basket. “ I can help you know.” I said still looking around. “ it’s alright princess, I got it. ” He grinned “ I want to help.” I pouted looking at him. For a second or so he held my gaze before agreeing with a soft smile. He opens what seemed to be a vacuum bag and pulled out a thick soft blanket. “ grab the other end then.” “ how did this big thing fit in that little bag.” I murmured as I helped him unfold the blanket to get the other end of it. I didn’t notice he had stopped until he spoke. “ your gonna have to choose your words carefully.” He chuckled as I came to realize what I had said. “I-I didn’t realize.” holding the blanket to cover the blush on my face. “ uh huh” he laughed We spread the blanket close enough so we could rest our back on the tree trunk then set out some fruits that he had prepared. Though they weren’t skillfully cut, it was the thought that count. We sat side by side. So close that our shoulders were touching. I sat with my legs crossed while he sat with one of his legs bent and his hand rest on it. “ I heard you’re the beta’s son. Why haven’t I seen him or the alpha?.” I questioned trying to make conversation. His eyes are fixed on me eating the kiwi that were crookedly cut without a care in the world. “ it’s okay if you’re not comfortable or just don’t want to answer I wouldn’t feel offended by it.” I rushed out not wanting to pressure him. “ and I’m not using reverse psychology to get you to answer me. Also me saying that doesn’t mean I’m double reverse psychology-ing you. If you know what I mean.” I sighed feeling so stupid that I’m blabbing this much while he’s just staring at me smiling. “I’m sorry, let’s just change the topic.” “What’s your favourite colour.” I asked plopping another piece of kiwi in my mouth “ well, I used to like green when I was younger.” He trailed off looking down at my lips “ and now?.” “And now.. red. I think my favourite colour is red.” He whispered. I could hear both of our breathing I could clearly hear my heartbeat. Our eyes locked, darting down occasionally to one another’s lips before I broke the trance. Looking down at the bowl of fruits. “ what’s yours.” I heard him say after a while. “ brown.” I smiled and he nodded We were in comfortable silence for a while before he said. “I’ll be eighteen in some weeks, would you guys be here still.?” I shook my head before answering. “ I don’t know. my parents didn’t say anything about when we’re leaving or if we are. They just said we had to stay here for our safety because they couldn’t leave us in Saint Vincent alone. But we have to go back for our exams though.” I explained and He nodded. “ okay.. so when would you be eighteen?.” I laughed before looking at him. “I’d be eighteen on may tenth.” He smile but it didn’t last long as I told him. “Two years from now.” He visibly stiffened, shock took over his face. “ what, what’s that look for?.” “ nothing it’s just, you said you guys had to go back for exams and stuff so I assumed you were older.” “Oh. No.. school there is different. I went to preschool when I was two to maybe four years old, we skipped kindergarten because basically they teach the same thing just more of a classroom vibe than preschool, if you understand what I mean.” He nodded “ I know, I know. But that still doesn’t explain though.” “ well you get two years at preschool. Year one and year two and only one year of kindergarten in some cases like mine and Andel we skipped kindergarten. Then we go to grade one which we were five at the time up to grade six then do a big exam ‘CPEA’ that if you passed it you get to go to secondary school from form one to five then you’ll do another big exam again ‘CXC’. To go to college.” “ so.. that exam thing. If you failed you have to stay back at elementary school or whatever class.?” “ no, but it depends on how badly you fail.” I laughed “Okay but I don’t understand how you’re sixteen and going to do exams though.what next you’re gonna tell me you’re graduating before me too.” He joked. “ well, I don’t know how to explain it to you to make you understand. And yes I’ll be graduating after exams and hopefully going to college for the next term.” “ what!!.” He exclaimed. “You’re going to college at sixteen.?” “ only for two terms then I’d be seventeen.” “ but still I’d have to wait till next year to start college.” “ two different school systems Gael” I said as I took a banana peeled it and put it to his mouth and he bit it. With banana in his mouth he said. “ So what’s the legal age there. You know to drink and stuff.” I narrowed my eyes playfully at him and he laughed smacking my shoulder. “ what?. I just want to know.” “ eighteen. For everything, and yes you get an ID too.” “ ahh s**t. I’m gonna have to talk to my parents.” We both laughed “ so what would you like your mate to look like.” “ why would you ask me that like it’s easy as ordering food. Whoever it is.. if they accepts me there’s no doubt I’d accept him too.” I muttered looking down at my fingers “ he’d be a fool not to accept you.” He whispered using his thumb and index finger to turn my face to him. I bit my bottom lip not knowing what to feel as he continued. “ my mate, I’d love it if she’s short 5’1 or 5’2, petite, blushes when she’s in my presence, blue hazel green eyes and auburn hair.” He whispered. I can now hear my heartbeat in my ears as I realize he just described me. I blushed looking down at the bowl of fruits taking a bite of strawberry. Gently, he pulled my face back to him. We’re just there eyeing one another and I find it difficult to swallow the strawberry. “ Can I taste that!.” I nodded frantically taking a strawberry from the bowl giving it to him. “ here” I muttered barely audible. “ I meant the juice on your lips.” I blinked, staring at him hoping he’s not joking. “ okay” ******** We hadn’t realized the time had went fast. I was a little more comfortable with Gael but still a bit shy. We’re now packing up the stuff to hurry back to the jeep so that we can make it back before dark but I don’t think that’s possible as it is now minutes to seven. After Gael and I kissed that one time we ate apple pie and then had some lasagna which we had some non alcoholic whine with. After that we cuddled a little and talked about me going back home and all that. We even carved our initials on the tree in a heart with ‘4 Eva ’ underneath. The ride home was some what quietly nice, I even found myself smiling a lot. Getting out of the jeep Gael ran around to my side to open the door then took out the basket. “ I’ll walk you to your room.” “ okay.” “ is it okay if I hold your hand?.” “Yea.. but.” I looked around and as if he knows what I’m thinking about he said. “ it’s okay. I got you.” He winked opening the front door letting me walk in first. Standing in front of my bedroom door with the basket in hand Gael is staring at me smiling. “ what?.” He shakes his head still smiling. “ I enjoyed today. It was a different kind of feeling. Good different though.” I blushed before saying “ I enjoyed today as well.” “ I know. Good night princess.” He said before pecking me on my cheeks. “See you tomorrow?.” He asked and I nodded. I don’t want him to leave but he has to. Biting my lips to suppress these newfound emotions. Water blurred my eyes so I turned to blink them away so that Gael wouldn’t see but I guess he did. He turned me back around hugging me. “ why are you crying?.” “ I don’t know.” I answered honestly as I hug him back. He dropped the basket without caring that it was loud. He stroked my back softly reciting things that made me laugh today to me maybe to cheer me up, and it worked. I turned my head to look up at him and he’s looking down at me. “ don’t cry. I’ll make sure we meet tomorrow okay.” I nodded after he wiped a stray tear from my face. But seriously why am I crying. I giggled as he whispered. “ and I have your number,I can talk you to sleep.” He held my face with both of his hands caressing my cheeks while I was still hugging his waist. As we were going for a peck, a loud familiar voice startled me making me drop my hands from Gael’s waist trying to push him away from me but he still held my face not wanting to let go. After a few seconds he sighed before letting me go and picking up the basket.
