Chapter 11

After leaving the pack house we went back to her place, well her mom’s. I don’t care for inheriting my position as alpha, I feel a bit sad because I didn’t even enjoy my teen years as a teenager more like a worrier and sometimes the acting alpha. I guess it made me who I am. I took a deep breath taking in the surroundings , this is my home now at least for now. I want Lenora and I to have our own home, things to call our own.

The money that I transferred to Lenora’s account are from what ever pack business i did plus the forthright allowance mom gave me since I was like thirteen. It was too big, so when I turned sixteen I’d sneak to go on patrol duty on evenings after school to take over one of the border patrol shifts. That way I felt like I worked for it, and whoever shift I took over got some free cash.

It’s not a lot but it’s more than enough to start over. My phone rang breaking me out of my trance.

“Hello” I cautiously answered.

“Man, it’s me. What is it I’m hearing that you told your dad to give Liam the alpha title because you’re not worthy to be in that position.” my best friend tony exclaimed.

My eyebrows automatically raised from what he said.

“ what, who said that.”

“ I’m not sure man. But is it true, did you really gave Liam your position that easily” I scoffed at his stupid question.

“ really, tony. You really think I would bear all that my father pushed me through for years only to hand it to Liam” I scoffed again before continuing.

“ I might as well did what Liam did then. Maybe he would’ve had a hard time picking which one of us he wants to be his heir.”

“Well, that’s true. But what really happened though.”

I sighed. I told him everything that happened from when we got back to the pack house up till now.

“ that fu**k*ng as***le. It must be him who spread that s**t then to force your dad to give him the position and not say anything that he did.” He gritted. I can hear him breathing heavily.

“ yea.. well , there’s nothing I can really do now so..”

“ you do realize if his dirty laundry is out, business deals may be canceled and alliances can end right” he scoffed

“ of course I know tony,I can’t do anything now, can I.” I murmured

“ what do you mean, man you could’ve fought for your position, that’s your birth right.” He yelled and I had to move the phone away from my ear. Putting the phone back to my ear I said.

“ a birthright that my father could’ve also decide he’s giving to Liam or his beta’s son. Are you forgetting that Liam is not the reason.” I explain calmly.

“ oh right, your mate. How is she though what is she like” I nodded my head smiling as I thought of what to tell him. There are so many things about her. We spoke for another ten minutes before hanging up.

I went out to the living room to see Lenora’s bloodshot puffy eyes cuddle under a comforter watching her show. I lifted it and settled under it pulling her onto me and she rest her head on my shoulder.

Maybe like a minute or two I felt my chest getting wet, is she dribbling on me. I held both of her shoulders pulling her away from my body.

She’s crying and it hurts me to see her cry this much.

“Baby, why are you crying. what’s wrong.” I asked caressing her cheeks. My own eyes watering.

“ w..we’ve only b..been mates for barely t.. two weeks and look at how it’s going.” She balled louder resting her face in her hands.

“ all relationships has their ups and downs.” I furrowed my brows trying to get her to look at me.

“ this is not an up and down situation Wyatt. This could’ve ended with one decision. I would’ve understand if you had cho..”

“ I chose you. I chose you Lenora and I do not regret choosing you if I had a chance again I’d still choose you. No position in the world is as valuable as my soulmate. I would never trade you for anything. I will die for you if I have to. I would’ve fought my father for you if I had to..”

“ goddess no Wyatt, no.” She shook her head looking up before continuing. “ I wouldn’t have let you. You’re too good for that.” She looks at me and it’s like she’s looking through my soul.

“ so you would’ve rather rejected me, than have me fight for our chance to be together?.”I asked feeling the lump in my throat.

“ no, that’s not what I meant” she murmured softly looking down at her hands before putting her head back on my shoulder. I rubbed her back with one hand with the other on her waist. I wanted to tell her it’s basically what she was implying but I don’t want her to get me wrong then we end up arguing.

Lenora fell asleep shortly so I went to put her down and cover her up while I made lunch. I made enough so that we have leftovers. Her mom came and ate and went back to work surprisingly she didn’t ask anything. I packed away the rest of the food and finished cleaning up the kitchen and went to the bedroom to see Lenora still sleeping.

I walked back to the living room to do some thinking, what can I do to earn money I’m sure my father wouldn’t approve of me working as a border patrol out of spite. I can ask my mother get it but I don’t want to come between her and father more than she already put a rift between them.

I throw my head back exhaling when an idea popped into my head, it wouldn’t be a lot but at least it would be an income. I got up wrote a note for Lenora telling her where the food is and that I’m out job hunting. I put my shoe on took my key and went out.

Arriving back at the house Lenora is seated at the dining table eating. I went gave her a kiss on the cheeks and she let out a little giggle, I smiled in content before kissing her on the lips.

“that’s the girl I miss.”

she smiled and said. “I’m sorry”

“ it’s okay baby sometimes we all need a good cry to bounce back”

“And sleep” she laughs. I nod in agreement.

“ so any luck”

“ uhhh.. not really I had to settle for some things” I picked up the plastic bag with different vegetable seeds showing it to her.

“ what is that”

“ seeds. I decided to do gardening and sell to local markets I bought some that are already in pots though that way while we’re waiting on these we have those, they’re outside I can’t transplant them now it’s still too hot.” She nodded poking the last piece of chicken in her mouth.

“ also I got a few people to let me bring back their flower garden to life. So tomorrow I’m going to try and do as much as possible so that I can look elsewhere for more.”

So you’re just rebooting their garden and that’s it”

“ well, no three of four people wants me long term two of which will pay me by the week and the other by the month, so you won’t have to worry okay. And this is only until I get a stable job to support us, bare with me a little while.” I scrunched my nose tilting my head to the side.

“ Hmm.. only if you let me help.”

“Help to do what?.”

“ work, I want to help.”

“ babe you don’t..”

“ I know I don’t have to. But I want to, we’ll get the job done faster with both of us doing it then the more we can go look to find more, especially long term.” She beamed turning around after drying the plate.

I contemplate on how to make her not do this but her mind is already made up so I just nodded.
