As the room settled into silence, Ethan made quick eye contact with Rebecca, who was sitting across from him and to his father’s left. Behind him, he could feel Marcus taking his customary position as his personal guard, while Andre did the same with Stephan. Next too Rebecca was seated Marcus’s father, Gunther, with the light of the chandelier reflecting of his dark skin.  All eyes immediately focused on the only newcomer of the group, and at a nod from Stephan, Douglas rose to his feet.
