Georgina was in a bad mood because their company was in a dire situation. They needed to find an investor to inject five million dollars to survive the threat of bankruptcy. An urgent shareholders meeting was called, and as the general manager, she had to attend. However, when she woke up this morning, she remembered Blaire borrowed her car. So she had no choice but to ask Nicholas for help, but it only doubled her annoyance. "Drive faster! If I'm late today, I won't let you see the end of it!" Georgina impatiently said, but soon regretted it. She almost fell off when Nicholas picked up speed and couldn't help hugging his waist. Nicholas shivered from her touch. This was their first intimate contact in three years, and feeling Georgina's heat on his back was riling him up. Nicholas drove even faster because of that. Georgina breathed a sigh of relief when they finally arrived at the company, and just as she got off the scooter, a blasting engine roared on her left. An Audi Q-5 parked next to them, and a dashing man stepped out of the car. He confidently shut the door and handsomely fixed his suit, then walked to Georgina with a blinding smile. "Mr. Croft," she greeted. "Didn't I tell you to call me Daniel?" He smirked and then pointed his gaze at Nicholas. "Gina, who is this person?" he asked. "Him?" Georgina briefly glanced at Nicholas and smiled back at him. "He's Nicholas," she answered softly. Their wedding shook the entire Warlington, and no one in town didn't know that the sweet and beautiful Georgina had married a loser. "Oh, it's him." Daniel snorted and treated Nicholas like air. He took off his coat and handed it to Georgina, saying, "It must have been freezing on the way here. Put these on quickly." "Thanks." "By the way, I got you a little something." He swung open the door at the passenger's side and brought out a fancy box. Inside was a pair of crystal high heels that looked super posh and classy. For sure, any woman who'd get to wear those shoes would look sexy and alluring. Back in the day, the Godfrey family had their own clothing business, and Nicholas knew a bunch of famous designers. If memory serves him right, these shoes were designed by some top-secret country designer named Marissa, and they're called Crystal Love. It was a limited edition; only ninety-nine pairs were made, and they sold out like hotcakes when they hit the market. Most of the people who snagged these shoes were from high-class families, and to buy a pair, they had to be more than just loaded. However, the shoes Daniel held, while looking like a decent knockoff, were shoddy in craftsmanship, making it obvious they were fake. "Gina, I know you've always wanted these shoes. It's my bad luck for not finding an original anywhere," he handed over the shoes. "But, I spent a fortune to get you a fake pair. Give me a month, and I'll get you the real deal." "You don't have to," Georgina casually replied as she received the gift. "It's impossible to buy the real ones anyway. Even if any were available, the price would be through the roof. Last year, a pair of Crystal Lovers fetched a crazy thirty million at an auction. So, stop wasting time. I think the fake ones are already pretty nice." "Well..." Daniel gulped. She was right. His net worth was only around thirty million, so spending it all on shoes would be a bit much. He could only manage an awkward smile. But at that moment, Nicholas suddenly inserted himself into their conversation, snatched the shoes, and threw them on the ground! "Honey, we don't want other people's stuff. If you like them, hubby will buy them for you," Nicholas said as he grabbed her hand and led her toward her office. "Nicholas, what are you talking about?" Georgina whispered through gritted teeth. They were loitering in front of the company, and she didn't want any drama as the general manager. She instinctively tried to pull her hand back, but Nicholas held on tightly. "Hey, you! Stop right there!" Daniel suddenly got anxious. 'Damn it!' The thought of the money he spent on those shoes shattered to waste had lost him. "What's your problem?" Daniel marched over and pointed at Nicholas. "Don't you get how much those shoes were? Fake or not, even if you sell one of your kidneys, you still won't be able to pay for it. You know that?!" Nicholas stood unfazed before him. "First, Georgina is my wife. Keep your distance from her. Second, if my wife is cold, she can wear my clothes." With that, Nicholas threw Daniel's coat on the ground too. "Third, I'll give my wife whatever she likes. She's so beautiful that fakes don't suit her. Tonight, I'll give her real Crystal Love shoes." "You're acting like a damn i***t! It was hard enough to buy an imitation for three hundred thousand dollars, and you're riding a goddamn busted scooter! You think you can afford an original Crystal love?!!" Daniel was furious. As the heir of the Croft family, it had been ages since anyone spoke to him like that. What infuriated Daniel more was that Nicholas ignored him and pulled Georgina into the company. "Son of a b***h! This guy is a total moron!" Daniel kicked Nicholas's scooter so hard that it toppled over. But, doing it once was not enough to quell his anger, so he thrashed it until he had had enough.
